Legacy Giving or Planned Giving is about making a

As a child, Ann was raised to believe and fear God would send her to hell for her sins; a loving relationship with Him was unheard of.

Her mother instilled in her a crippling fear of God as her favorite phrase was “God is going to punish you.” There was no mention of repentance or forgiveness. Although Ann knew there had to be more to life than the brokenness she felt, she couldn’t find it and she lived as an atheist.

Ann grew up feeling worthless as she knew her mother had wanted her aborted, confirming she was unwanted.

As Ann grew up, A mom and her daughter she got into one are ready for school with a backpack bad relationship full of brand after another. She new supplies knew these men were using her, but she believed she wasn’t worth anything better. She got pregnant at 22 but the father stayed only a short time.

She then started dating a man she’d met at a club, and he quickly suggested they live together.

After she was saved, it seemed that the enemy had a bullseye on her head as she was attacked left and right.

People told her she couldn’t survive on her own and at one point she had only white rice to feed her daughters for an entire week.

That arrived, and she walked into the church and felt at home.

Ann’s parents were overjoyed, so she reluctantly moved in with him. He lost his job soon after and Ann was left to pay all the bills. Used again. Ann described their relationship saying, “He was an alcoholic that couldn’t keep a job and I had no self-esteem: perfect match! Then he proposed and I accepted…even better!” They married and got pregnant, but then he became abusive. After he nearly killed her, she kicked him out of the house and they were divorced six months later.

Yet again, she dated men who used her. However, she also began studying about a loving God. She realized her own bad decisions had led to where she was. She denounced atheism and began praying to God for help.

After moving, she drove by Calvary Chapel Plantation every day and felt drawn to attend but only repeated to herself, “one day I’ll go in.” She was then influenced by a Christian book about God’s faithfulness and she realized what she had been hungering for all her life: a relationship with God! That “one day” arrived, and she walked into the church and felt at home. She started attending regularly, learned of her worth in Christ, and became a follower of Jesus on December 12, 2012. Praise the Lord!

As Christmas approached, she knew she wouldn’t have presents for her kids. In the meantime, however, her church introduced her to Sheridan House. We invited her to the Single Moms Thanksgiving Blessings and the Christmas Toy Shoppe events where she cried like never before; she could not believe anyone would do all this for single moms. Afterward she explained that “never in my life had I seen people helping others the way they were: men carrying bags for the single moms and all the food!”

She sent pictures to her family and wept as she told them how amazing God is as He always supplies for our needs.

Ann shared her reflections about Sheridan House: “There are no words to express how much it meant to me and my children to have the Sheridan House family in our lives.

I am left speechless when I think back at all the ways I was blessed by Sheridan House. My children were able to eat when I had no money to buy food. My children had presents to open at Christmas when I didn’t have the money to buy them anything. I had clothes to wear that helped me to save money to pay the bills. I was fed the word when I so desperately needed to hear and see that I was not alone. This was all because so many chose to be Gods hands and feet.”

Last year the Lord blessed her with an incredible job and higher income. She now labors to be God’s hands and feet by blessing others as He has blessed her.
