Meryl Braun 2021 ClinicalKey Finalist

Current second-year student Meryl Braun is counted among the finalists in Elsevier's ClinicalKey Student Global Challenge 2021. Ms. Braun is among the 15 students chosen from a total of 7,500 medical students from over 100 countries who participated in this global challenge.

The challenge was launched in April 2021 and featured four rounds of weekly assessments containing 25 clinically relevant USMLE-style questions on ClinicalKey Student.

After completing all four rounds, participants were asked to submit a short video focusing on the theme of leadership and resilience during COVID. They were asked to assess a clinical scenario and provide guidance on what steps they would take to resolve a conflict, reflecting on their own feelings, those of the clinician involved, and the patient. The videos were reviewed by ClinicalKey experts and, along with their scores, participants were selected based on their answers. "AUA has provided the resources, environment, and nurturing faculty and staff that enabled me to excel as a student and future physician. AUA deserves to be recognized as a center of excellence and I am proud to represent AUA on a global scale. If I could say a few words to incoming students, I would congratulate them on their achievements, advise good sleep etiquette, self-care, and study discipline. There are no shortcuts! keep track of your weaknesses and make them your strengths. Keep in touch with the Education Enhancement Department, University Counseling Center, and Small Group Facilitators, and remember your “Why” .

When asked to say a few words about what it feels like to be a finalist in the global challenge, Ms. Braun credited AUA for her success. She explained that AUA has given her the opportunity to become a physician after 10 years in the clinical laboratory field.
