Senior Prep Welcome to Year 6

Sherfield School
Sherfield on Loddon, Hook, HANTS, RG27 oHU

et Mrs Hall Teacher in Class 6.1

I’m so excited to be joining Sherfield School and even more thrilled to be your teacher this year. I’ve recently moved from London, where I lived and taught for 8 years. Sherfield already feels like home, and I can’t wait to get started with our class.
I’ve taught across a range of age groups and subjects, but I’m especially passionate about Art – I specialised in art education at university and love seeing how creative your young minds can be. I also care deeply about the world around us. In my last school, I led the Eco Schools programme, teaching children about sustainability and how we can help protect our planet.
Outside of the classroom, I love running, hiking, and camping – especially in the beautiful Welsh countryside. I’m also a keen traveller and have explored incredible places like Vietnam, Myanmar and Thailand. My family are Dutch, so I often visit the Netherlands too.
I know this year is a big one, and I’m here to support you every step of the way. We’re going to have a fantastic time together – I can’t wait to meet you all!

Mrs Mooney s Teacher in Class 6.2

Hello everyone! I'm Gerry Mooney and I’m absolutely thrilled to be starting my second year as a Year 6 teacher here at Sherfield.
I’ve been teaching for more years than I care to admit, and during that time, I’ve had the privilege of working in all sorts of exciting roles Head of Year, Deputy Head, and even Headteacher. My teaching journey has taken me all over the world, including 10 amazing years in Malaysia, as well as time in Scotland, Cheltenham, and Dorset. Each place has given me new ideas, great stories, and a lot of inspiration (some of which you might just hear in class!).
When I’m not at school, you’ll probably find me at the gym lifting weights, cooking up something delicious, pottering in the garden, or heading off on adventures in our camper van or on our Harley. I love discovering new places and meeting interesting people.
At home, I have three grown-up children who keep me on my toes: ✈ Sam is an officer in the army, Caoimhe is finishing her Masters in London, and Lorcan is currently in Thailand, training in Muay Thai after completing university.
I’m truly passionate about teaching and believe that every single one of you can achieve amazing things. This year, we’ll work hard, support each other, and most importantly have a lot of fun along the way.
I can’t wait to get started and see everything we’ll learn and do together!
I hope this booklet will help you to get to know Year 6. If you have any questions you can email me on g.mooney@sherfieldschool.co.uk
