ON A BEAUTIFUL MISSION LAYAL BOULOS

In the glamorous world of international pageantry, Layal Boulos shines as a beacon of strength and resilience. Born in the United States, this half-American, half-Lebanese beauty has chosen to proudly represent her ancestral homeland, Lebanon, in the esteemed Miss Europe Continental pageant set to take place in Italy this coming November.

Layal completed a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She has worked and taught kids with learning disabilities in Lebanon and abroad for three years and is currently the executive assistant of the Bahamas Ambassador to the state of Qatar and UAE also for three years.

She has always been fond of how organized these countries are and has so much respect for their leaders. In her role, she plans meetings, events, travel arrangements and finds being able to speak English and Arabic fluently and French is a great asset.

Layal's deep connection to Lebanon and her unwavering spirit make her the perfect ambassador for a nation that has triumphed over adversity time and time again. With a love for Lebanon, she has always been attached to her Lebanese roots. Despite having the option to represent the United States, her heart led her to choose Lebanon as her country of representation.

For her, Lebanon is more than just a birthright; it embodies a vibrant rich culture, warm hospitality, and a fun way of life that she holds dear.

Layal's passion for her heritage is deeply rooted in the generosity and love of the Lebanese people, as well as their rich culinary traditions and natural beauty. She admires the resilience her people have in the face of adversity. Lebanon has faced numerous challenges,

both economically and socially, in recent years. The devastating Beirut port explosion, one of the largest explosions in history, wreaked havoc on the nation and its people.

Layal recognizes and appreciates the strength of the Lebanese people, who have time and again risen from the ashes of adversity.

Inspired by the strong resilience of her Lebanese countrymen and their unwavering spirit, she sees herself as a symbol of hope and renewal, ready to showcase Lebanon's true potential to the world.

By representing Lebanon's unique and rustic charm, Layal gets great pleasure as she prepares to compete in the Miss Europe Continental pageant. She carries with her the pride of representing Lebanon—a true piece of heaven on Earth.

Her goal is to inspire others, just as the Lebanese people have inspired her, by showing that even in the face of adversity, dreams can be realized, and hope can prevail. Layal is clearly an extraordinary young woman and is very excited to represent Lebanon

among more than fifty other nationalities in the International highly anticipated beauty pageant that will be live on TV worldwide.

Layal’s hobbies include traveling, discovering new cultures and food and she has always been fond of fashion and fine dining. She enjoys riding horses, cooking and going on walks. Her mother and father are her role models.

Driven by her love for her ancestral homeland and the resilient spirit of the Lebanese people, Layal aspires to promote a positive image of Lebanon, showcasing the country's cultural wealth, natural beauty, and the indomitable spirit of its citizens.

In her personal life, Layal aims to be stronger in the modeling industry and have a family, but she is generally happy and satisfied with whatever comes from God. At the end of the day, she works for her dreams but realizes that no one can control their destiny.

As the first ever Female Technician at Arabian Automobiles & Co (AAC), Syeda Aisha, a graduate of HerriotWatt university is turning her love and passion for cars into a career and in the process, is becoming a role model for a new generation of female car lovers. Her appointment is timely as AAC moves towards embracing diversity and inclusion at the workplace, especially in the technical field.

A mechanical engineer by education, Aisha is a Junior Technician with the maintenance team at AAC’s Deira Aftersales Facility.

Her aim is to encourage and train other women to come forward and join the automotive Industry which is transforming with opportunities.

Shereen Shabnam meets with Aisha at her workplace and finds out more about how she realized her dream to be part of a leading automotive company in UAE.

TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF AND HOW YOU DEVELOPED YOUR PASSION FOR CARS.

I am a mechanical engineer by profession, specializing in the automotive industry since 2018. As soon as I graduated, I joined a small customization garage but not in a technical role. With my passion for cars, it was a good starting point.

My love for cars developed over the years of my dad taking me and my mom to motor shows and this sparked my passion for beautiful machines.

In school, I started learning about the physics and technology behind cars and started meeting professionals in the industry who introduced me to the local car scene, meetups and events.

HOW HAS AAC HELPED YOU IN TERMS OF WORK DEVELOPMENT AND GROWTH?

It has been actually a very good place for me to grow and I have had a lot of support from all my colleagues at every level in the company. And I see that I can grow a lot more here, move up the ladder in the technical field while also pursuing my passion at the same time.

AS THE FIRST FEMALE TECHNICIAN IN THE COMPANY, HAVE YOU THOUGHT OF MENTORING AS WELL?

My end goal involves teaching, especially encouraging young males and females to gain more knowledge and exposure in a proper, organized, professional way.

I definitely want more females to come into the industry to pursue their passion, despite what everyone keeps saying and gatekeeping because a car is there for everybody, and nothing should stop anyone from pursuing a career in this field.

HOW HAS THE REACTION BEEN IN TERMS OF YOUR MALE COUNTERPARTS?

AAC is a good place to comfortably work, and my male colleagues actually have confidence in my previous experience and are extremely supportive. They are always guiding me, giving me tips, fun facts. They are casual like friends, and this makes the workplace enjoyable.

WHAT'S THE FAVORITE PART OF THE JOB?

I love the cool environment as everybody here actually enjoys what they are doing. You can see it by their body language, their work ethic, that they are passionate about cars and like to work with their hands. I like it as it motivates me more seeing everyone genuinely enjoying their work.

AND DO YOU HAVE ANY ROLE MODELS TO LOOK UP TO?

I have been surrounded by a lot of people who have inspired me, but especially my best friend in the automotive industry who has done a lot of groundbreaking things. In general, I feel more inspired by people staying grounded and being open with information.

IS THERE A PARTICULAR INNOVATION OR TECHNOLOGY

IN THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS THAT EXCITES YOU?

Despite not being extremely enthusiastic about EVs, some of the technology they carry like the autopilot, the security features and the 360 cameras that have come in recently are impressive.

I also like how the gasoline powered engines are evolving and the fact that you can shift drives between manual and automatic modes while driving.

WHAT ELSE EXCITES YOU?

Mostly it's just cars, but other than that

I like pursuing art. I have two cats at home, so I am mostly busy with them. I like to do some tinkering and love the Lego technique detail sets, which have functional gearboxes and engines that involve using the mind and the hands.

WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE YOURSELF IN THE NEXT FEW YEARS?

I love working here but my ultimate aim would be to have my own space, with my own shop, my own workshop where I could be working alongside people on cars while at the same time teaching them and young enthusiasts about cars.

Luxury companies are in continuous search of excellence in terms of quality, style, creativity, and innovation to serve the needs and desires of the customers of today and tomorrow while retaining their patronage through loyalty.

The brand reputation and image are strongly linked with intangible assets, sociological and psychological factors while anticipating and managing the financial and economic factors. Furthermore, competition is fierce; continuous development of global brand players and distribution networks are adjusting their needs for global integration through instant responsiveness. In order to manage the above as best as possible, luxury enterprises naturally need qualified talent, train, develop and retain them in this competitive environment.

Luxury brands need to attract and develop talents with the highest level of attitude, creativity, retail, and commercial mind. It is inevitable that the generations which have been leading the luxury products and business development will always be close to retirement for any reason in decades ahead.

Therefore, the luxury industry finds new talent to replace them. Creative, innovative, and driven talent is the person who knows that new and thoughtfully designed products and services to cater the desires and needs of a variety of customers will make sensation, sell, and make difference in marketplace. Their design thinking focusses on long lasting memory as per the customers’ recent experiences and concerns.

The luxury environment demands from them a great deal of obsession over customer experience and perfection regarding products and services. Talent must have flair for style, strong attention to detail and pragmatic business sense to make their efforts a commercial success. She or he travels extensively; visits fairs, exhibitions and luxury venues and places continuously to be inspired; see and experience enormous number of products and services, follows the trends and

new developments to develop his/ her global brand vision and allow to interpret the brands’ aesthetics heritage. It is obviously and certainly impossible to expect everyone in the group or team to have such admirable qualities; it is many times sufficient to have one person to inspire and motivate the whole team or group through these qualities: they are the luxury leaders.

The foundation of quality is its durability! The luxury products are generally made to remain a long time and might even be transferred to the next generations. In luxury companies where the vision and the heritage of the brand of the owning institution are carefully and uncompromisingly followed and managed.

In most cases these institutions are families and the key elements and philosophies must be passed on from generation to generation to foster the brand DNA. This effort must be made to build strong relationships with people who are in-charge of the historic and fundamental knowledge and experience that they have learnt from their peers and mentors along the years.

To build a pleasant and productive place to work that inspires passion and trust in those that have to foster, grow and revitalize the brand DNA, luxury brands have to face the major issue of attracting the talent who are able to create and innovate new products and services that are expected by the customers.

New products that must be both distinctive and in-line with the expectations of today’s experienced, educated and sophisticated customers and discerning travelers. The leadership should be continuously trained and developed in the areas of corporate culture and ever-evolving luxury business insights that enable them to be professional and behave as the brand representative.

It is extremely important to retain the key competencies, particularly those who have grown-up with the brand in the areas of production, service, and sales. Providing a wide range of services that build strong and personalized relationships with the customers is extremely crucial; delivering the highest level of service and telling memorable experiences while pioneering the new horizons with the brand keep customers loyal all the time.

Luxury brands are all about creativity and innovation, business, overall customer satisfaction and loyalty. It is the customer who will eventually decide which brands meet their needs, expectations, and unlimited desires.

Luxury brands therefore need talent that has competencies which are specific to the industry. Brands must ensure to hire, develop, and retain the talent who has the essence of luxury industry, embrace the business flair and heritage of the company, and eventually pass onto next generations to grow them within the company and business.

Companies all around the world are striving to be at the forefront of the sustainability movement, and for good reason. Government policies require organizations to reduce carbon emissions, which in a way is encouraging business owners and investors to focus on sustainable practices and renewable energy such as wind, solar, thermal among others.

The building and property industry is one of the largest users of global resources and contributors of pollution. It, therefore, has a huge responsibility to aid sustainability. Undertaking a successful sustainable transformation drives competitive advantage and benefits for all stakeholders, particularly the building and property sector. A study by Forrester Research Inc. reports that organizations in the building and property sector have availed several benefits with the use of sustainable solutions.

Some of the key benefits include decreased costs (e.g., cost of energy production and/or energy consumption) (82%), improved regulatory compliance (82%), improved employee recruitment and/or retention (82%), and improved customer acquisition and/ or loyalty (75%).

In line with the benefits achieved, several building and property players have rapidly embraced the concept of net-zero buildings and accelerated their transition to ecofriendly construction with the use of innovative technologies, particularly OpenBlue Technology by Johnson Controls.

TIPS TO KEEP STRESS FROM HURTING YOUR HEART | 18 | Global Trend

Everyone reacts to stress differently, and how you react can impact the chance of developing serious health issues, including heart disease.

Your body's response to stress may include muscle aches and headaches, back strain, stomach pains, and other physical symptoms. Stress also can make you tired, disturb normal sleep patterns, and leave you irritable, forgetful and out of control. When stress is constant, your body remains in high gear for days or weeks, which can lead to more significant health problems.

Periods of excessive and pervasive stress can result in direct effects on health, such as high blood pressure and higher cholesterol levels. Indirect impacts, such as increasing behaviors and habits that worsen physical health and functioning, include smoking, overeating or engaging in less physical activity.

Managing stress levels always is a good idea when it comes to your overall health. Studies are underway looking more closely into how managing stress reduces risk for heart disease given the direct effects of stress on health. Patients who have experienced a heart attack or stroke and feel depressed, anxious or overwhelmed by stress should contact their health care team for additional help. Reducing stress can take many forms.

Understanding your triggers and identifying your stress symptoms can start the stress management process. Then you'll be able to recognize and modify triggers of heightened stress levels. The first step in altering your stress response is to identify stressors and ask yourself, "What can I stop doing, and what can I let go of?"

After you have removed or modified external stressors, it's time to build specific management skills and techniques. Many things can be done to manage stress and build resources. As a psychologist, I typically ask people to adopt things from each of these categories: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

A FEW IDEAS TO ADOPT INCLUDE:

• Harness your strengths. Reflect: "I feel most energetic, fulfilled and full of life when I am doing …"

• Take part in social activities. Chat with a colleague or loved one, or catch up with an old friend virtually.

• Give to others. Try volunteering or performing a random act of kindness.

• Start something. Be creative, and try it for five minutes to begin with.

• Begin to journal. Be mindful of your daily life.

THERE ARE SEVERAL THINGS YOU CAN DO TO RELIEVE STRESS IN YOUR LIFE, INCLUDING:

• Exercise regularly.

• Challenge negative and catastrophic thoughts.

• Avoid smoking and caffeine.

• Eat foods with high nutritional value.

• Maintain a healthy weight. In some situations, medicine can help.

However, when it comes to stress, medication often is used as a last resort. Instead, look to manage the stress you are experiencing using relaxation or other learned stress reduction techniques. Also, make sure you're not confusing stress for an anxiety disorder, which is a separate condition you should discuss with your health care team.

Yes, stress can be good for you. "Good" stress can come from weddings, a job you love or your children. Many of the things you love also can be some of the most significant challenges at times.

Everyone needs a little stress for motivation to meet the daily challenges and ultimately promote optimal functioning in daily life. Stress that's managed can enhance focus and concentration, move you to connect more with others and provide you with a sense of mastery, which promotes better health.

PROJECT BEACON

Nutanix (NASDAQ: NTNX), a leader in hybrid multicloud computing, announced Project Beacon, a multiyear effort to deliver a portfolio of data-centric Platform as a Service (PaaS) level services available natively anywhere – including on Nutanix or on native public cloud. With a vision of decoupling the application and its data from the underlying infrastructure, Project Beacon aims to enable developers to build applications once and run them anywhere.

According to the Enterprise Cloud Index, 75% of IT teams expect to leverage more than one IT infrastructure - including onpremises, in public cloud or at the edge - in the next one to three years.

Moving applications to a different environment is currently possible at the infrastructure layer. However, the PaaS services that many organizations use to help developers build and ship applications faster cause lock-in as they are tied to specific public clouds. This leads to high switching costs when looking to move applications to an environment that is more suitable, whether it’s due to cost, compliance, latency or other factors. Project Beacon aims to change that.

“Project Beacon is our vision for enabling developers to write applications once and run them anywhere by delivering data-centric PaaS level services that are no longer tied to a single infrastructure

provider,” said Rajiv Ramaswami, President & CEO at Nutanix. “We hope to enable enterprises to fully embrace the benefits of hybrid multicloud, not only at the infrastructure layer but also at the application data layer.”

As part of Project Beacon, Nutanix aims to deliver the platform services that many organizations rely on, with a single API and console, integrated with Kubernetes® container orchestration, and consistent management across environments. This suite of datacentric platform services would be characterized by a consistent and simplified management experience, automated mobility, portable licensing, developer self-service, with built-in security and governance for

Nutanix is starting with database services, the foundation of all apps. As part of this effort, the company aims to extend the customer benefits of the Nutanix Database Service™ (NDB) solution as a managed service

in the public cloud. This will build on the NDB database automation and management experience already available on Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI), as a managed service on native public cloud infrastructure.

Nutanix would then expand from there to the most popular datacentric platform services, such as streaming, caching, and search. The goal of this effort is to deliver all key elements needed to build modern applications so that developers would not have to rely on solutions that will lock them into a single infrastructure.

World’s Largest Lesson Gives Voices to Students in One of The Largest Global Education Surveys Ever

The World’s Largest Lesson – an initiative led by Project Everyone and UNICEF – and NetApp a cloud-led, data-centric software company, today announce the findings from one of the largest global surveys of education ever which garnered 37k responses from young people in 150+ countries, many sharing their views for the first time.

The gamified survey revealed an overwhelming call for a modernization of curricula to mirror more closely the realities, skill sets and demands of today’s society and the future.

THE REALITY

When students were asked what they

believe the purpose of school should be 48% of responses related to gaining practical skills for the real world. However, the reality of their education does not reflect this.

“We’re in the middle of a global learning crisis, " says Alison Bellwood, Executive Director of World’s Largest Lesson. “Students are imagining a future that is very different from the one their current curriculums were developed for. They want to be ready to thrive in new, green economies and to help build a sustainable world. Children have spoken. It’s the responsibility of education policy makers to listen to them.”

The good news is that 77% of students are happy to be back at school after COVID-19, and they’ve shared thousands of ideas about what they want to see changed in education.

THE FUTURE OF THE EDUCATION IS PRACTICAL SKILLS

When asked whether they were learning enough about a range of topics, 61% of students worldwide said they feel they are learning not enough or not at all about digital skills like programming and coding. A close second with almost 59% calling for financial literacy or how to make a budget with 55% wanting to understand how to analyse and use data.

“In today’s world, it has never been more critical for data literacy skills to be taught in classrooms,” Michelle Mann, Director, Social Impact at NetApp. “Data is, increasingly, the foundation for informed decision making around so many important social, technological, and environmental issues—including a child’s own education.

NetApp is committed to helping empower student voices and ensure leaders make room for them in educational discussions so they can share data-informed insights on how they would like to learn.”

To address the need for data science learning experiences, NetApp created a global social impact program call Data Explorers. It's a hands-on afterschool program focusing on reaching underrepresented students in under-resourced communities.

UNDERSTANDING MENTAL HEALTH, OTHER CULTURES AND THE ENVIRONMENT

While being prepared for jobs and the future were top, a further 44% wanted to learn more about how to look after their mental health and wellbeing, with 33% reporting they feel anxious to be back at school after COVID-19. 42% of students reported wanting to understand different cultures, and a further 42% wanted to learn more about how to protect the planet.

Tanishi, 14, a member of the World’s Largest Lesson Student Advisory Panel based in India, said “Asking what young people want from their education is the first step of change.

It is similar to what the marketing division of a business does when they research what their customers want… If the customers here are students, to

make their education more efficient and helpful, asking students about what they want from education is essential.”

GLOBAL VOICES, SHARED NEEDS

When asked for ideas on how to change education, the most common global theme was practical skills attainment, at 33% and a further 21% mentioned being more informed on key issues. As one student put it “It is important to study the past, I know, but now we are living in the present and I want to know how to live in this world”.

Nearly 20% talked about changing how they learn, for example reducing pressure to succeed in exams or allowing students more individual choice. One student said “This egg-carton model impedes professional growth and change”. Another said “I would reinvent the relationship with my teachers: today they act as they were ’superior’ while they should act as our mentor.”

CALL TO ACTION

While we’ve heard calls to modernize education before, this survey has allowed children themselves to speak up and add their voices, many for the first time. Together they’ve shared more than 25 thousand ideas of their own to transform education, from “allow students to choose the subjects they want to study”

and “study in nature” to “being able to experiment” and experience “life learning lessons”.

Could this be the tipping point to a bold redirection of education? If so, the report argues that governments must consult and include children in their decisionmaking, so that education reflects those that it serves. As Matilda, 12, World’s Largest Lesson Student Advisory Panel member in Greece put it, “We are the future, and we need to decide what we want the future of the world to look like”.

TIPS FOR CISO TO ENABLE BETTER BUSINESS EXPERIENCES AND OUTCOMES IN 2023

The role of a CISO now consists of much more than just risk management and compliance. CISOs are now routinely consulted on business issues because digitized business processes are critical to any enterprise’s success, so cybersecurity is therefore a board-level concern. Indeed, cybersecurity is at the heart of most enterprise businesses because of e-commerce and the digital marketplace.

For example, e-commerce, whether business-to-business or business-toconsumer transactions all depend on consistently good user experiences to deliver business outcomes. And this requires consistently good networking, security, and computing performance. Many organizations’ leadership teams recognize the business value of cybersecurity that comes from its ability

to enable trusted communications and better user experiences. It’s now clear that enabling responsive computing operations is key to ensuring consistently good user experiences.

In short, today’s CISO’s role is no longer just about protecting the organization from cyber threats. The CISO is now a key business enabler and leader, tasked with managing risk and delivering business value. Below are suggestions for how CISOs can help generate better business outcomes for their organizations.

TIP 1: CONSOLIDATE TO DRIVE RESPONSIVE OPERATIONS

There’s widespread agreement that more tools from more vendors is not a viable approach to addressing today’s broad array of cyber risks. Indeed, in most cases, multiple vendor relationships

with the associated multiple training requirements, license management issues, consumption models, management consoles, and integration requirements, only add greater complexity and costs. Today, most CISOs are rationalizing their legacy investments from several dozen vendors, down to six to eight platforms around which their teams will build the automation for identification, protection, prevention, detection, response, and recovery. Vendor consolidation drives more consistent and responsive networking, security, and computing performance creating better user experiences.

TIP 2: DIGITAL EXPERIENCE MONITORING FOR BETTER PERFORMANCE

can enable the business is by creating exceptional user experiences. A digital experience monitoring (DEM) solution provides IT teams with end-to-end network and application performance monitoring that helps improve digital experiences.

Because of the increase in remote work and the migration of applications to the cloud, many organizations are struggling to identify the root cause of application performance issues and traditional monitoring tools simply aren't up to the task.

This is where a DEM tool can add significant value as it unifies data and helps teams to better understand networking, security, and cloud issues that may create latency in business processes, as well as see compute in terms of the cloud, figuring out CPU usage, and comprehending storage capabilities. DEM product usage is something that is happening consistently today because there is now an understanding that user experiences determine business outcomes. DEM solutions provide CISOs with the ability to demonstrate tangible results by showing how performance improvements lead to more brand interactions, e-commerce transactions,

and new growth. You can really see this value over time after you've implemented solutions such as SD-WAN, zero-trust network access (ZTNA), and secure access service edge (SASE).

With these types of products, CISOs can demonstrate tangible ROI in the form of fewer failed logins for better help desk productivity, which can be readily monetized. In addition, proactive network management means fewer network disruptions, which means more e-commerce transactions and revenue.

Better user experiences can also be measured by better collaboration, or they can measure things over time like what's the meantime for DevOps, from code conception to launch. These are types of things that CISOs can do today to demonstrate the value of cybersecurity.

After meeting with many CISOs and IT teams early this year, I have found there is universal agreement that it's all about the user experience. Perhaps it’s best expressed by this popular industry axiom: “The quality of service equals the quality of experience, and the quality of experience equals business outcomes.”

This statement reflects the trend that began during the pandemic. Now,

everyone expects to be wowed with every interaction they have with a brand. People are demanding greater levels of customization and personalization, along with better security and privacy.

There is an expectation that the data consumers generate be collected, stored, and handled by enterprises in a responsible manner. Of course, the main reason organizations want to hold data responsibly is that they need it to continuously enhance user experiences.

FINAL THOUGHTS

CISOs should keep cybersecurity as a main area of concern. However, they should also be working to maintain the quality of experience, the quality of service, and the quality of business outcomes.

It's important to be compliant and have strong risk management, but that can be negated if CISOs don't deliver the outcomes. It's all about the results.

Today, for CISOs it's not just about the security threshold, managing risk, and being compliant with regulations. At the end of the day, CISOs have to enable the business as well.

UNCOVERING THE HIDDEN GEMS OF EMILIA-ROMAGNA

A Journey through Art, Cars, Food, and Scenic attractions

Emilia-Romagna is a region renowned for its rich culinary traditions, stunning landscapes, and its close association with luxury automobile manufacturers. During a recent visit, we checked out the Dallara Factory & Academy, the Maserati factory, Casa Maria Luigia where we tried a curated dinner with Chef Massimo Bottura, had multiple Ferrari experiences, and visited the Lamborghini Museum and the Pagani museum and factory.

We started the day with a visit to the Dallara Museum followed by the Dallara Factory and Academy, explored the world of motorsport engineering and witnessed the craftsmanship behind the creation of high-performance racing cars.

After a spot of lunch in the mountains, we headed to the nearby town of Modena for a guided tour of the Maserati factory and discovered the meticulous production process of their cars. We also spent some time interacting with the new CEO of Maserati and listening to his plans to elevate the brand further.

In the evening, we enjoyed a dinner curated by Casa Maria Luigia, the culinary project of renowned Chef Massimo Bottura. We enjoyed touring the one site cellars where Chef Massimo houses barrels of balsamic vinegar and indulged in a unique dining experience featuring the flavors of Emilia-Romagna.

The next day, we experienced the thrill of driving a Ferrari F488 at the

Modena Racing Track and enjoyed a high-speed driving session under the guidance of professional instructors. Following our driving experience, we savored a delicious lunch at the Cavallino Restaurant, known for its delectable local cuisine.

Soon after, we embarked on a guided tour of the Ferrari Factory in Maranello, getting insights into the manufacturing techniques and precision engineering that make these iconic cars. We continued our Ferrari journey with a visit to the Ferrari Museum, showcasing the rich history and evolution of the brand and admired a collection of classic and modern Ferrari models.

We spent most of our visit exploring the small towns and one afternoon,

checked out the Opera 02, which offers a unique and immersive experience centered around the world-famous balsamic vinegar. After a delightful lunch, we indulged in another captivating tasting journey that highlights the artistry and complexity of traditional balsamic vinegar production.

Similar to what we experienced with Chef Bottura earlier, we had a tasting experience at Opera 02 of balsamic vinegars, ranging from young and vibrant to aged and velvety. Each sample unveiled a symphony of flavors, from sweet and tangy notes to the delicate balance of acidity and richness.

Another highlight of the trip to this region was visiting the Lamborghini Museum. We explored in the world of Lamborghini, the legendary cars and their iconic designs. It was my second visit and this time around; I found the museum more developed and with more cars than before.

A highlight of our trip was a tour of the Pagani factory as although I have met and interviewed Mr. Pagani in the past, I had never visited the Pagani Museum and factory during my previous visits to

the region. The visit was insightful and we witnessed the meticulous craftsmanship that goes into creating the exclusive and luxurious Pagani models.

Before heading to Bologna, we spent an afternoon in Modena City to experience and view the Cavallino Classic Parade that showcases a stunning array of vintage and modern cars. We enjoyed the festive atmosphere and admired the beauty of these iconic vehicles.

After a well-rested night in Bologna city, we had a whole morning of

retail therapy before the flight. It was certainly difficult to say farewell to Emilia-Romagna and it is a city that will always have a special place in my heart.

From the UAE, it is easy to get to Bologna. Being an avid traveller, I prefer to combine a few destinations and Turkish Airlines has attractive offers regularly to European destinations with a stopover in Istanbul. The airline has daily flights to Istanbul from Dubai with easy connections to cities like Bologna.

DISCOVERING THE ENCHANTING BRESCIA REGION

Nestled in the heart of northern Italy, the Brescia region offers a captivating blend of ancient history, picturesque landscapes, and culinary delights.

My journey through this enchanting region revealed hidden gems with captivating sights from the moment I arrived at Bergamo Airport with Air Arabia.

A short drive away was L'Albereta, an exquisite resort tucked away amidst the rolling hills of Franciacorta. It was my home for two days and I felt enveloped in luxury and tranquility, surrounded by vineyards and lush greenery.

I was immersed in the serenity of the region topped by indulging in world-class cuisine, a massage in the spa, and savoring the stunning views of the countryside in the evening.

Venturing beyond the serene ambiance of L'Albereta, the Franciacorta Village was a shopper's paradise with a delightful selection of renowned Italian and international brands, from fashionable clothing to stylish accessories. Naturally I treated myself to some welldeserved retail therapy.

The highlight of the day was discovering the lesser-known gem of Lake Iseo. The peaceful ambiance and pristine beauty of this breathtaking lake made it a perfect retreat as we sailed across the crystal-clear waters, taking in the picturesque surroundings, and stopping at Monte Isola, the largest lake island in Europe, for a leisurely stroll.

Exploring Brixia, an archaeological Roman area, was next on the agenda. It offered a glimpse into the ancient world while wandering through the

well-preserved ruins, marveling at the intricate mosaics, and envisioning life in this once-bustling Roman city. The rich cultural heritage of Brixia is sure to leave you in awe.

Being a motoring enthusiast meant visiting the Mille Miglia Museum which pays tribute to automotive excellence. Here one can delve into the legendary history of the Mille Miglia, a thousand-mile race that captivated the world, admire the meticulously restored vintage cars and learn about the race's iconic moments.

While in Brescia, I also enjoyed a beekeeping demo at the Borgo il Mezzanino Country House, learned about the fascinating world of bees and the importance of their role in our ecosystem.

The resident chef also delighted our taste buds with the sweet rewards of the honey produced on-site and later a dinner in a magical setting, complete with natural plants, lights and wholesome food.

My last two days were spent in EALA, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the countryside and on Lake Garda. This charming hotel offers a warm welcome, comfortable rooms, and an amazing view.

Walking from EALA to Limone sul Garda and the Limonaia del Castèl was pure magic along the lake. The picturesque town of Limone sul Garda, situated on the shores of Lake Garda has quaint streets, lined with colorful houses and charming shops in a Mediterranean atmosphere.

A visit to Limonaia del Castèl, a historic lemon grove that showcases the region's agricultural heritage is a must.

The Brescia region, with its rich history, natural beauty, and culinary delights, offers a captivating journey for travelers seeking a truly unique experience. From the moment you arrive at Bergamo airport to your explorations of ancient ruins, tranquil lakeshores, and charming towns, Brescia will leave an indelible mark on your heart.

During a recent visit to Ancona, we learnt about the magnificent CRN M/Y RIO, which is the latest true-custom steel and aluminium superyacht by CRN, an entirely bespoke nautical work of art with an unmistakable pursuit which is to make on-board life uniquely pleasurable.

The taut, flowing hull lines and near-vertical bow bear striking testament to her remarkable elegance and dynamic, sporty personality. The new 62-metre beauty is the fullest expression of the Ancona yard’s artisanal skill, design expertise and fine construction quality.

RIO was designed and built by CRN in close collaboration with design and architecture studio Omega Architects, who created the exterior concept, while designers Pulina did the styling inside.

throughout the final stages of construction and onward through the operational management.

cars, drivers, and stories that shaped the race's history.

The Mille Miglia, also known as the "Thousand Miles," was an annual road race that took participants on a grueling journey through Italy's breathtaking landscapes. The race spanned over 1,000 miles, from Brescia to Rome and back, challenging drivers with treacherous terrain, tight corners, and unpredictable weather conditions. In its heyday, the Mille Miglia attracted renowned drivers and glamorous automobiles, becoming a symbol of

THE SCIENCE BEHIND PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE NEEDS OF TRAVELLERS TODAY

Insights from the Amadeus Traveller Tribes 2033 Research

As the increase in travel continues to accelerate, understanding our fastchanging world becomes imperative for those working in travel and tourism. With emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, a growing desire to live more sustainably, and ever-shifting personal priorities, there are a multitude of factors that will ultimately impact how people want to travel and what they expect from travel sellers and providers.

The Traveller Tribes 2033 research is the latest global study commissioned by travel technology leader Amadeus.

It endeavours to take a glimpse into the future and see how people will want to travel in ten years’ time.

The research identifies the future forces of change transforming travel, alongside emerging traveller traits, behaviours, and preferences, in order to understand

exactly what travelers might want a decade from now.

Northstar Research Partners, commissioned to lead the study, surveyed 10,345 travelers in 15 key markets - including the UAE, UK, USA, India, and China - asking a total of 248,323 questions to compile nearly six million data points in all.

This information formed the backbone of the research and was combined with input from 22 experts in various fields to create a robust foundation for the findings.

The research techniques and proven methodology were devised by the Institute for the Future, expert practitioners in the science of forecasting future trends.

These techniques included asking travelers about what they expect their

age, income and family status will be in 2033, together with written exercises to open their mind about what life could be like in a decade from now and priming them with a written description of what will impact travel in 2033.

Asking travelers how they think other people will behave in 2033, rather than how they will behave, was also important. Research from the Centre for Decision Research at the University of Chicago has shown this to be a more accurate way of understanding peoples’ behaviour.

All of this was aimed to get people in a future-facing mindset to think about travel in 10 years’ time. The results show that although travel continues to change, the way we understand the traveller is not keeping pace. It was therefore important to create a new way of segmenting travellers.

The research helps to take a longer-term view of how travelers may behave in the coming decade. While attitudes are transient over time, the behavioural attitudes which impact the way travelers think and take decisions can be longer-lasting, allowing for a more accurate understanding of the future.

Traveler Tribes 2033 identifies four Traveler Tribes that are emerging today and are set to shape traveller demands into the future. For instance, the ‘Travel Tech-fluencers’ have high expectations that travel should leverage technology for smoother and better-connected experiences, such as the use of biometrics to speed up boarding at airports. Not surprisingly, this traveller tribe includes business travelers.

‘Memory Makers’ on the other hand value travel for the memories they make and the places they visit above all else. They like to curate memorable vacation experiences and are open to using technology to help relive those experiences. The ‘Excited Experientialists’ have a “try it and see” approach to life, with mid- to high-income earners, few commitments and are well positioned to explore the world.

The last group in the Tribe, ‘Pioneering Pathfinders’, like to combine people and technology to plan travel for them. They are on above-average income, which lets them live a progressive, fast-paced life, always looking for their next big adventure. They also demonstrate a desire to travel more sustainably.

Going beyond simple, traditional classifications of age, gender, location and socioeconomic position, Traveler Tribes 2033, was able to identify individuals based on their psychological traits, their willingness to travel, explore and seek adventure and how such things will be impacted by new technologies as they emerge.

Equipped with this information, Amadeus is now well positioned to work with its partners to respond to the changing needs of travelers in the coming decade and create solutions that offer a better travel experience.

TURKISH AIRLINES REVEALS HIGHEST-EVER FIRST-QUARTER REVENUE

Turkish Airlines demonstrated its ability to navigate through a challenging operating environment during the first quarter of 2023, which was marked by devastating earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaras - one of the worst disasters in Türkiye’s history. Through its 90 years of experience and successful crisis management, Turkish Airlines recorded net profit for the seventh consecutive quarter despite the negative circumstances surrounding our industry since 2020 with the beginning of the pandemic.

In the first quarter, the airline achieved its highest-ever first-quarter revenue, reaching 4.4 billion USD with an increase of 43% year-over-year. Accounting for 84% of the total revenue, passenger revenues rose by 83% and recorded over 3.6 billion USD.

With one of the youngest and most modern fleets of 411 aircraft, Turkish Airlines increased its fleet size and workforce by 10% compared to the same period of last year. In the first quarter of 2023, the airline carried over 17 million passengers in total, with a domestic load factor of 80.1% and an international load factor of 81.4%. Despite the negative effects of global inflationary pressures on costs, EBITDAR (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, Amortization, and

Rent), which demonstrates the cash generation ability of the company, was approximately 770 million USD on the back of strong revenue growth.

While global international airline capacity in the first quarter of 2023 was 19% below that of 2019 according to data published by airline data provider OAG, Turkish Airlines was among one of the few airlines in the industry to exceed its 2019 international capacity, which it did by 26%.

As Europe’s leading network carrier in terms of daily number of flights operated for the last three years according to the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL), Turkish Airlines also achieved a notable growth on a global scale by becoming the network carrier offering more international frequency than any other. As a result of investments in our country's aviation infrastructure, Istanbul Airport became the busiest airport in Europe in the first quarter.

Turkish Airlines has been a major contributor to Türkiye’s economy and employment by growing significantly above the industry averages in terms of capacity, number of passengers and profitability over the last two decades. To maintain this trajectory, the national

flag carrier has announced its 2033 strategy for its centenary aiming to double the fleet and passenger numbers by setting targets for enhancing the passenger experience, digitalization, and sustainability efforts.

As Türkiye's flag carrier, Turkish Airlines responded swiftly to the devastating earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaras. In February and May, the airline evacuated 430 thousand citizens, transported 433 thousand people along with search&rescue teams, and sent over 29 thousand tons of aid materials to the disaster areas.

To contribute to the recovery efforts, the airline also donated 2 billion TL in cash aid to the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (AFAD). Additionally, Turkish Airlines pledged to provide support for building 1,000 houses and employ 1,000 personnel from 1,000 families impacted by the earthquakes.
