HUMANITIES

This year has been a remarkable one, seeing how the girls have adapted and progressed within humanities, for many of them it was their first time exploring the world of humanities. Throughout the year they continued to develop key skills and critical analysis skills. Despite the numerous challenges the girls faced they showed resilience and continued excellence for both geography and history

In history the year seven girls explored a variety of topics that has allowed them to develop a number of essential deep thinking and creativity skills. They reenacted parts of the Battle of Hastings and completed many presentations to help build their confidence. It has been amazing to see how they have developed and progressed. In geography the girls learned what it means to be a geographer. They learned key aspects of the earth spheres and made a large globe to show the earths core.

Year eight pupils completed some exciting tasks in geography. During stem week they had the opportunity to design a product that would help to combat against polluted water or erosion. All the ideas which the girls created where simply outstanding. They learned key independent research skills which they utilized in both subjects. In history the girls completed a range of research tasks and presentations. By doing these they developed communication and presentation skills.

In geography the year nine girls focused on forms of development and population before moving onto how Asia was developing and how urbanisation is a major impact throughout this continent. For history the girls learned key skills of how to successfully interpret and analyse source questions and iGCSE style questions. This has enabled them to use specific terminology to enhance there answers with clear understanding.

The KS4 girls have worked extremely hard this year throughout the many challenges they have faced, all while studying for their IGCSE’s. They have persevered through covering two major topic this year: Superpower relations and Germany.

It is evident that the girls have worked extremely hard in both history and geography. They have been challenged, and encouraged to strive to achieve their best. I am proud at the passion that the girls have developed throughout the school year. Their work ethic and love for learning has shown through. I look forward to seeing what next year will hold for our historians and geographers as they continue to grow.
