For parents/guardians whose children are joining our Summer Courses, Sherborne International offers a flexible Parent Programme that allows you to stay nearby, share in your child’s experience, and enjoy a fulfilling stay of your own.
While your son or daughter takes part in their busy academic and social schedule, you will have the freedom to relax, explore, learn, and meet other parents – all within the calm and welcoming environment of Sherborne.
Accommodation is provided in one of the beautifully refurbished boarding houses at Sherborne Girls, just a short walk from the school and the historic town centre. It’s a peaceful and comfortable setting, where every detail is taken care of so you can focus on enjoying your time here.

The Parent Programme is designed to offer the best of both worlds: proximity to your child and the space to enjoy your own interests.
You’ll be close enough to share in key moments – such as dinners, student performances and end-of-course celebrations – while still giving your child the independence to thrive within their own programme.

Enhance your stay with optional charged extras
During the day, when students are in lessons or on excursions, parents can opt to join our organised outings and/or attend English classes with our Academic Bolt On and/or Trips packages.
ACADEMIC BOLT ON:
• 15 hrs of English Classes a week per small group class
• Fee: £500 per person, per week
• English levels CEFR A1-C2
Small-group lessons designed for non-native speakers who would like to develop greater fluency and confidence in spoken English. Sessions focus on practical communication skills and enjoyable conversation in a relaxed environment.
TRIPS PACKAGE BOLT ON:
• 3 Guided Excursions per week, including one full day Sunday trip with students
• Fee £300 per person, per week
Three times a week, you’ll have the opportunity to join carefully chosen trips to some of the region’s most fascinating destinations, which may include:
• The elegant city of Bath, with its Roman Baths and Georgian architecture, home of Bridgerton
• The mysterious Stonehenge
• The cathedral city of Salisbury
• The coastal town of Lyme Regis and the Jurassic Coast for some fossil hunting
• Country houses, gardens, and villages around Dorset and Somerset
Each excursion offers a chance to experience the culture, heritage and natural beauty of the area, while enjoying the company of fellow parents and friendly Sherborne staff. On the Sunday excursion, you will be accompanying your child on their full day trip.

Q
Can I join all my child’s classes?
A
No. The programme offers scheduled joint experiences, but the emphasis is on giving your child independence. In most cases, parents may join in evening events, performances, and selected day outings. If you opt for the 15 hrs of English classes, you will be in an adult only class.

Can I choose which trip I attend with my child?
A
The basic accommodation package does not include parent & child trips. Parents can however see their child at other times. The Optional Trip package offers the opportunity for one Sunday trip with your child and two parents only.

Do I need to book the optional English classes or excursions in advance?
A
Yes — we recommend you select these at enrolment to ensure availability. Some may have limited capacity.
Q
I have a high level of English and would like to study literature and history. Would this be possible?
A
We aim to cater for all levels and interests however this very much depends on teacher availability and numbers.
Q
Can I use the facilities of the Sports Centre?
A
Your fee includes membership for the Sports Centre, which gives you access to all the facilities including: the gym, swimming pool, golf simulator, squash courts and classes.
Q Are there discounts if two parents stay, or arrive for multiple weeks?
A
No. The price is per individual, not couple.
Q Can extended families (grandparents etc.) join?
A
Yes, although space is limited to majority single rooms and must be arranged in advance.
Q
Can I enrol my child on a day course and have them stay with me?
A
No. The course is only available to parents who have children boarding in one of our boarding houses.
Q Can I pop into school and see my child?
A
No. We are a fully operational school with many students aged 8-17 therefore there are some restrictions on entering the school site unaccompanied. Our friendly staff can offer instructions on entering the school site and accompany parents at specific times.

Parent Programme Schedule
Practical Information
Minimum stay:
Two weeks (matching your child’s course duration)
Arrival and departure
Arrival and Departure days are Wednesdays
Airport coach transfers
Arrival and departure transfers from selected airports on designated arrival/departure days are included with your booking, for flights arriving or departing between 0800 and 1800 hours.
Sherborne International staff will greet you and your child at the airport.

(Wednesdays): 8, 22, 29 July and 5 August.
• DEPARTURE DAYS
(Wednesdays): 22, 29 July and 5, 19 August.
Transfers on different days/times/airports will need to be arranged and paid for directly by the parent/agent/guardian. Our team can provide assistance if you have any questions.

Cost
• Accommodation/meals only: £1,400 per person per week (includes room, meals, sports centre membership).
• Academic bolt on £500 per person per week (15 hours per week).
