A fine 19th century bronze group of two thoroughbred horses, titled Accolade, by Pierre-Jules Mêne (1810–1879). Signed to the base. The animals are modelled with exceptional naturalism, capturing both movement and anatomy in characteristic detail. LIMESTONE BUST OF CLEOPATRA, 18TH CENTURY OR EARLIER

A finely weathered hand-carved limestone bust depicting Cleopatra VII, the last active ruler of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt, rendered in the Neoclassical manner popular in the 18th century. Shown with idealised Greco-Roman features, her hair swept back in an elegant classical style, the queen is draped in flowing robes across the shoulders and wears the coiled form of an asp at her neck, symbolising her legendary death and enduring association with ancient Egypt. The sculpture’s calm yet enigmatic expression reflects the Enlightenment-era taste for antique portraiture, inspired by ancient marble originals. Decades of outdoor exposure have softened the details, lending a rich patina and traces of lichen growth to the porous limestone surface. Cleopatra here is presented as an enduring symbol of beauty, intelligence, and political power. 82 cm. high

LIMESTONE BUST OF JULIUS CAESAR, 18TH CENTURY OR EARLIER

A weathered 18th-century carved limestone bust of Gaius Julius Caesar, the celebrated Roman general, statesman, and dictator perpetuo, depicted in the Neoclassical style. The head is turned slightly, the hair close-cropped in the Roman manner, and the shoulders draped in a toga over layered Roman armour detailed across the chest. His features are idealised yet retain the commanding presence associated with his historical likenesses from antiquity. The surface bears the character of long outdoor display, with softened contours, pitting, and lichen growth enhancing its timeworn authenticity. This bust would have served as a classical counterpart to Cleopatra, recalling the historic and political connection between the two. 82 cm. high
