FOUNDER'S LETTER The global pandemic that swept through the U. S. in 2020 has been a distinct reminder of the economic fragility so many millions of Americans struggle with on a daily basis. Through the obvious difficulties of the past year, I have found renewed enthusiasm and motivation for Shelters to Shutters and its ability to create increasingly meaningful impact. In fact, I am drawn to the need to expand our mission to not just those suffering from situational homelessness but to all those at risk in marginalized communities throughout our nation. Shelters to Shutters changes lives. We provide a path to a new career and a future of hope and prosperity. In spite of the challenging environment this past year, Shelters to Shutters found success through the support of our five City Advisory Boards put in place in 2019 in our primary markets of Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Nashville and Washington, DC. The boards’ ability to rally around our mission, build local support, and position us to engage further locally was critical. This local engagement is the foundation of our future growth. Spearheading our renewed growth and commitment is David Williams who has joined as President and CEO to build off of the efforts of his predecessor Andy Helmer. David brings extraordinary experience from some of the most well-respected non-profit organizations including serving as CEO of Genesys Works, Make-A-Wish America, and COO of Habitat for Humanity International. His track record for scaling and building organizations directly translates to our goals at S2S. I thank you for your continued support, and l look forward to working together to scale our impact and change the lives of many more individuals and families throughout our country. Best regards,

Chris Finlay Founder & Chairman

PRESIDENT'S LETTER When I first met Chris Finlay and learned about the unique model Shelters to Shutters deploys to solve situational homelessness, something inside me lit up. I knew that I wanted to be a part of it! Little did I know that two years after our initial meeting, the timing would be right for me to be here today to lead the organization into its next phase of growth. In my nearly 40 years of leading nonprofit organizations, I have witnessed over and over again the strength of the human spirit to overcome and the generosity of individuals looking to help others. For those S2S serves, a population already on the edge, the pandemic threatened further financial, physical and mental crises. The reality of how quickly life can go off course suddenly felt more relatable than ever before. Through S2S, we have the privilege to offer a hand-up to deserving individuals and families before their hope for a better future becomes further and further out of reach. Shelters to Shutters has made some significant achievements to date, and it is my privilege to steward the good work that has been started while advancing the organization further. As a first step, I will work directly with the City Advisory Boards in Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Nashville and Washington, D. C. on hiring the first S2S Executive Directors for each of these markets. These hires will be key to growing our program at the local level. We will also focus and invest in training and workforce development as we seek to be the go-to referral source for our multifamily industry partners. We move forward this year with a greater awareness of our need for finding creative ways to connect with others, conduct business and care for our communities. I believe S2S is ready and well positioned for the challenge ahead. And, I look forward to partnering with you and sharing the results of our work. With appreciation,

David Williams President & CEO

MISSION & VISION

OUR MISSION Shelters to Shutters is a national 501(c)3 organization that transitions individuals and families out of homelessness into economic selfsufficiency by educating and engaging the real estate industry to provide employment and housing opportunities. OUR VISION We seek to change the trajectory of those experiencing homelessness in our country by providing two critical components – housing and employment. We Believe: The private sector must engage to address social issues in our communities and provide solutions to assist the most vulnerable. Providing a hand up rather than a hand out results in greater opportunity for stability and long-term success. A holistic approach must be taken to address the issue of homelessness. Employment and housing are both critical pillars for self-sufficiency.

O RA ILNA TLEESI T S UU ST AB MPACT NUMBERS Most non-profit organizations serving at-risk individuals and families must choose which to prioritize for their clients, housing or employment. S2S offers both simultaneously. By providing employment with a competitive wage, benefits and housing, as well as access to career training and case management, we put individuals in an environment to be successful. We empower our participants to change the trajectory of their lives and the lives of their loved ones, providing a sustainable pathway to long term self-sufficiency. And we are proud to share these proven results.

I was a homeless Veteran looking for a new start. I was referred to Shelters to Shutters’ program and the very first event I attended I received numerous offers and landed a maintenance tech position. I want to thank the staff for guiding me through a tough time. Thank all of you so much. Giving back is what's in my heart to do to help others that way your blessings will continue. Everyone has a story in life to tell. Mine is just one of many. – Jonathan W. S2S Participant, Graduate and Program Donor

Jonathan, a S2S program graduate, made a $250 donation to give back to support our work and left us with his message above to share. Jonathan is just one example of the powerful impact providing a career with housing can have on a person. In less than two years, Jonathan was in a position to pay it forward to others who need a hand up like he once did.
