What is the TREM program?

Shelterhouse offers numerous TREM support groups to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault who are seeking to heal from the impacts of their trauma. These support groups help survivors to process their experiences and develop skills to become resilient in the face of future obstacles.

Learning healthy coping skills

Increasing self-esteem

Establishing physical and emotional boundaries

Identifying negative emotions and learning to regulate them

Cultivating safe and healthy relationships

Each group typically runs for six months and follows the official Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Model curriculum. Shelterhouse offers several options, including an upcoming TREM group specifically designed for BiPOC, or people of color, who have experienced domestic or sexual violence.
