he design installation Eco Focal transforms Fort Lane, an inner-city service lane in downtown Auckland, as a cinematic scene. Typically a cinematic scene is experienced visually but not haptically, this design intervention aims to achieve both, and in doing so creates an immersive embodied engagement for the viewer. The cinematic experience is refigured as a cinematic micro-climate environment drawing out the cinematic processes of lights, camera, and action. ‘Lights’ draws on the organic Voronoi pattern and casts light and shadow onto the laneway. ‘Camera’ is referenced as a series of apertures in the structure which enhance the cinematic techniques of focus and blur. ‘Action’ is a microclimatic sequence featuring a rain shower, wet ground, and surface reflection. The make-believe world of cinema achieved through visual effects is experienced in this work as a felt experience, while at the same time exposing the cinematic apparatus which is normally kept out of view

02 Eco Focal - Fortlane My interest in viewing the capricious weather of Auckland from a different perspective led me to explore microclimates. Microclimates are local set atmospheres which differ from the reality of the surrounding atmosphere.

T

his proposed structure is a parametric shape known as Voronoi. It is a very organic pattern, also it can be seen in cells of leaves, dragonfly wings, and beehives, etc. The choice of this specific shape is because I required a structure that could remote water in various positions. The structure collects stormwater and then creates thin streams of showers which enhances the body of a raindrop. The multicolored feature that is installed in between the empty space of the

installation is a 3M Dichroic Blzae film on perspex. This feature has various sizes of void spaces in them. The dichroic help’s warp the surrounding with its distorted reflection and sets the focus on what’s in the center. This is where you can see the effect of focus and blur. This design aims to provide a new outlook on the constant change in the weather. Eco Focal displays a new way to experience rainy weather and gives a sense of intimacy between the people and the climate.

he Whole purpose behind the plan is to make the space progressively intuitive in connection to the theater. This intervention is heavily inspired by my two artist models Mark Rothko and Quentin Tarantino. The suspended panels influenced by Rothko’s procedure of his artwork .The adjustment in levels of the boards increment the measure of intimacy with the individual . The hues pursue Rothko’s mixing equation the inclination from red to yellow makes a feeling of space between two hues . The component of the lenses was motivated by Tarantino causes the individual to describe there possess crude viewpoint towards the stage. he absence of bolder research on the Waitakere

Ranges causes a decrease of interest and leaves guests confused. The exposure of light in dark spaces could change the whole mood and the profundity inside those spaces will be sufficiently fascinating to clarify the history behind the Waitakere Ranges. This Intervention of light guides the guests to the outdoors so they can connect with nature and the rich history of Waitakere and the narrative of Rangi and Papa.
