Welcome to Sheffield for our Homecoming event. Not only are the Giants coming home after their longest away trip of the season, but it’s also the first time this season that we’ve had the pleasure of sharing our home field with the U19 players. As part of our rebuild it’s especially important to me to bring the whole club together at all levels, and today gives us an excellent opportunity to come together with the Academy and put on a show as a club, spotlighting the very best of our future generation along the way.

Last time out at home we took a victory against a dogged Sandwell Team, winning 31-16 after knuckling down in the 4th quarter to keep hold of the lead, we had held all game, after Sandwell brought the game to within 8 points late on. That game proved that it is never easy and that we will always need to draw on our entire squad to get the job done. Whilst it would have been nice to ride into a 50-0 lead, that’s not how football works and we had to grind out the win. And grind we did though, because that’s what this Team is all about.
Today we face the Birmingham Bulls and are looking to avenge our rather bizarre defeat on the road. We lost that game 03-07 and I think we could have played the game 100 times over and scored at least one touchdown every time. But it’s the game that was played that counts, and that’s the one that will fuel us today. Now we’re looking forward to welcoming all our fans, family members, and alumni to Homecoming - we’re going to put on a great show and then hopefully you’ll all join us to celebrate a hard fought victory afterwards in Shakespeares.
