At Sheffield Theatres, we’re proud to welcome so many extraordinary actors and artists to perform on our stages. So far, the 40th anniversary season has seen Dominic West, Clarke Peters, Francesca Annis and Deborah Findlay take to the Crucible stage and, this spring, we’re thrilled to welcome back Henry Goodman and Barbara Flynn (in our Michael Frayn Season) and John Simm (in Pinter’s masterpiece Betrayal).

Tue 1 - Sat 5 May Starring Connie Fisher, Wonderful Town is a multi award-winning comedy set in the bright lights of 1930s New York.

In the Lyceum, a packed programme of musicals, drama, children’s shows and comedy brings a host of familiar faces including Connie Fisher in Bernstein’s Wonderful Town, Rhydian Roberts in the uplifting Grease and Gareth Gates in the exuberant Hair.

Over the summer, the Theatres and Tudor Square will be bursting with spectacular events including The International Student Drama Festival, Sheffield Sizzler and a variety of Olympic celebrations. There are also plenty of opportunities for people to experience the arts in new ways including a host of workshops, Behind the Curtains - a promenade performance for schools and families - and the return of our Summer School in July.

Mon 18 - Sat 23 June Pop Idol’s Gareth Gates and Zoe Birkett star in the ultimate rock musical. Featuring classics including Aquarius, Let the Sun Shine In and the infectious title track Hair.

Gilbert and Sullivan make merry at the expense of Victorian melodrama in this, one of their most imaginative creations.

Sir Despard Murgatroyd is a man under pressure. He has inherited a witch’s curse forcing him to commit a crime a day or die in agony. So it’s a huge relief when shy Robin Oakapple is revealed as his long-lost elder brother – the true inheritor of the curse.

This revelation scuppers Robin’s chances with the prim Rose Maybud, but his troubles really start when his feeble crimes drag his exasperated ancestors back from the dead.

The lady in the van is Miss Shepherd. Alan knows very little about her. She used to drive ambulances in the war, might have been a nun, sells pencils and pamphlets and has an unexplained aversion to piano music. But somehow she lives in the playwright’s garden and has done for years.

Birds of a Feather ran on the BBC for nearly ten years throughout the 1990s, becoming one of the UK’s most-loved shows.

Now the three stars of the TV series are reunited on stage to recreate their adored characters; sisters Sharon Theodopolopoudos and Tracy Stubbs, and their sex‐mad neighbour, Dorien Green.
