Some personnel changes in our Neighbourhood Policing Team
First, PC Frank Morgan has taken up the role of Neighbourhood Beat Manager here at Holsworthy, following PC Mandy Brown’s retirement. Second, we have a new Sergeant, PS Donna Gutteridge. PS Gutteridge joined us in January and is settling in very quickly. Last, it’s “Goodbye” from me as I will shortly be leaving for pastures new and this will be the last report I compile. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of the Parish Clerks, the Councillors themselves, and those of you responsible for including our information in Parish publications, for the support you have given me over the nine years that I have been serving in Holsworthy. Regrettably, the pandemic restrictions have meant that I haven’t seen as much of you all over the last couple of years as I would have liked, but I have always felt welcomed at meetings and events I have attended over the years and will very much miss being part of your communities. Fortunately a replacement for me has already been arranged and your new PCSO will be Jess McEldon.

STOP PRESS: Once again, mindless, petty vandals have been in our wood along the Mussel Brook. We are disappointed that young people who live in this lovely county of ours feel the need to damage or destroy what they don't understand. Unfortunately, we were unable to catch faces on trail cameras (they wore hoodies) but they were tracked leaving the roadside gate at the north end of the footpath and turning left towards the Shebbear road. We feel sure that someone knows this little gang. Parents, do you know where your children were on that day? If they would agree to meet me, I could show them round and explain what we're trying to do in the area: encourage wildlife, forestry, and silviculture, and help to reduce the effects of climate change by planting more trees. Maybe they'll see the light - here's hoping.
