To avoid confusion
Genomics, ASBVs & Data
We have a new name for the Parent stud:
Garnett SheepMaster™ Stud As SheepMaster Studs establish across Australia, we need to clarify the Parent Stud name: Garnett SheepMaster™ Stud links the founding breeder and breed name.
And
SheepMaster™ has a whole new look
Shedding Sheep Australia (SSA) Pty Ltd The Garnett SheepMaster breed has rapidly expanded through Queensland, Victoria, NSW, South Australia and New Zealand. Demand for our product, consulting and support services has also soared. It has become clear that we need to re-structure our existing service to support our clients in all aspects of the thriving shedding sheep industry. This includes marketing, private and online ram sales, data collection onto a central base using the Garnett Scoring System (GSS) and genomics plus ASBVs and data. We also advise on general husbandry and stud startups for all types of shedding sheep. Most importantly, Accredited SheepMaster Breeders (ASBs) will be appointed by invitation, thus accessing SheepMaster™ certi cation of stud and commercial animals. This innovative transparent system, based on the quality and type of each animal, replaces the traditional pedigree system. Our National Stud Breeders will be absorbed into this group of Accredited SheepMaster Breeders with a central data base.
SheepMaster ™ Stud Classer Andrew Hodgson, SheepMaster Marketing & Breeding Consultant, is now taking on the role of SheepMaster ™ Stud Classer. Along with Neil Garnett, Founding Breeder, he will travel (Covid permitting) east to visit breeders. Online assessments and communication when travel is not possible is proving to be very e ective. Along with free transport of sheep to a central hub interstate, Australia is not as big as it once was…..
