Why good promo makes good eco-sense!

We believe there are a handful of criteria that make promo effective, and if it's effective then it's a good environmental choice. A ceramic mug will last for decades, replacing thousands of disposable cups...a recycled stainless steel tumbler may well contain parts of the car your parents drove in college, and useful, well-made pieces will get put to work.

So here they are, the five (and a half!) things every great promo item MUST deliver:

Useful: It has to have utility. If it doesn't have a purpose, it won't be put to use, and that's a waste.

Relevance: Some way, some how, every piece must relate to your company, the client's company, the event, the messaging or the recipient. If they look at it and say "Why?" they won't keep it.

Value: Notice we didn't say 'cheap'. You wouldn't give a $2 pen to a retiring board member, for example. The value of the piece should reflect the value of the recipient. Stretching the budget to achieve longevity, or using your existing budget to buy less items, but of higher quality, is money well spent.

Visibility: The sole purpose of promo is to show your brand and/or message to the right people at the right time. That means finding the item to add your message to, that has enough imprint space to hold the message you want to send, and that will be seen in the right context.

Longevity: visibility is key, and if you can achieve that with a piece that will be retained for many years, that's really the greatest result from both a brand and eco perspective.

Buzz Factor: this is really a bonus, but if you create a piece that people just love, want to tell their friends about, and share with the world, you've just expanded your brand reach exponentially!
