Young Professionals Best Under 40 Awards The Sheboygan County Chamber’s Coastal Young Professional Network hosts the Best Under 40 Professional Awards, recognizing the amazingly hard working and talented young professionals who have made incredible efforts to achieve greatness in leadership, community engagement, professional achievement, and volunteerism in Sheboygan County. Awards were presented for- Entrepreneur of the Year, Young Professional Community Volunteer of the Year, Top Young Professional of the Year and the Top Ten Sheboygan County Best Under 40.

Aviation Heritage Center of Wisconsin

Culture

Situated at the heart of the Sheboygan County Airport, the Center offers guests a close-up look at aircraft operations. During much of the year, Sheboygan County Airport is one of the busiest private aviation airports in the state.The Aviation Heritage Center of Wisconsin is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization.

They receive no government support, do not charge admission fees, and do not have a paid membership. They exist due to the generous contributions made by visitors, friends, and Wisconsin companies!

John Michael Kohler Arts Center This Art Center is home to 12 galleries, five studios for classes, spaces for special events, two performance spaces, an extensive gift shop and the ARTcafe’ along with a playfully quaint sculpture garden and some very amazing bathrooms.

Every year the Arts Center hosts the Midsummer Festival of the Arts which brings 130 varied artists to downtown Sheboygan.

The Art Center also hosts up to 30 individual themed exhibits every year.

John Michael Kohler Art Preserve Kohler Design Center The Kohler Design Center is a three-level showcase of innovative product design and technology, creative achievement and American history.

The 36,000-square-foot space highlights the extensive array of quality Kohler products, and is a source of inspiration for more than 150,000 consumers, builders, architects and designers each year. It’s a true representation of Kohler’s commitment to providing products that contribute to a higher level of gracious living.

Home to a formidable 25,897 art objects by some 180 artists, its distinguishing speciality is the presentation of “artist-built environments.”

This curatorial mission is ambiguous enough to encompass “spaces and places that have been significantly transformed by an artist,” and derives from Kohler’s decades-long affair with preservation initiatives.

Plymouth Arts Center

The Plymouth Arts Center, located in historic downtown, is the destination for premier art in Sheboygan County. This community non-profit organization is dedicated to it’s mission, “to enliven the spirit of our community and to enrich the lives of all by providing diverse experiences in the arts”.

Sheboygan County Historical Museum

The Museum features seasonal displays, a classroom, a museum store and various changing exhibits including ice harvesting, maritime history, Indian history, early agriculture and local sports.

The Wade House

Sheboygan County Historical Research Center

Specializing in the storage and preservation of written records for all of Sheboygan County, the Historical Research Center has over 20,000 files, including newspapers, past corespondence and small genealogies that focus on family surnames, local landmarks, churches, landmarked properties and Sheboygan County villages, towns and cities.

Wade House Historical Site, also called Old Wade House, is a 240-acre open-air museum in Greenbush, Wisconsin.

A Wisconsin historic site, the site is operated by the Wisconsin Historical Society. The site contains nine structures, three of which are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.Live historic interpreters, wearing period-style clothing, populate the park during summer operations. You can tour the 27 room Wade House Stagecoach Inn, watch a blacksmith shape horse shoes, take a carriage ride, watch a Civil War re-enactment or have an old fashioned hearthside dinner.

The Weill Center for the Performing Arts The Sheboygan Theater was constructed in 1927-1928 for the Milwaukee Theatre Circuit of Universal Pictures Corporation at a cost of $600,000. Designed in the Spanish Colonial Revival architectural style, it is an especially fine and intact example of the “atmospheric” type movie theater developed in the 1920s. This historic landmark theater provides & sustains a majestic performing arts venue for the community and to serve the people of Sheboygan County and surrounding communities with the opportunity to enjoy cultural, educational, civic, and corporate events that will entertain and inspire.

If you drive along the shores of Lake Michigan and find yourself in Cedar Grove it wouldn’t take long to figure out that the quaint little village has deep roots in Dutch heritage. The full sized windmill downtown is a sure sign. Like it’s Dutch neighbor Oostburg to the north, Cedar Grove was settled by Dutch pioneers who established the village in the 1840’s. The town celebrates that heritage with it’s popular Holland Fest.

This 2 day celebration, held every July, actually quadruples the town’s population. This celebration features a parade, street scrubbing, ethnic food, music and costumes, including wooden shoes. This family friendly village is home to several restaurants, grocery and hardware stores and a tavern. There is plenty of green space with parks and natural areas.

Howards Grove is a quiet, safe place to live, centrally located between Green Bay LLAGE OF and Milwaukee, providing easy access to many urban activities and amenities VI as well, yet set in a rural atmosphere. The Village supports a complete range of healthcare services as well as banks, home-style restaurants, lively taverns, a 9-hole Golf Course, convenience stores and Lakeland University, not to mention INC. 1967 our great school system (one of the top ranked in Sheboygan County). It is also home to The Howards Grove Center for the Arts, a state of the art facility that was constructed in 2018. The auditorium is the focal point for all shows and events for the Howards Grove School District. The Art Gallery displays the wonderful art masterpieces created by Howards Grove School District students. The Village has parks and trails running through it and they are favorite spots for picnics, biking, hiking, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. The Village of Kohler, has a population of just under 2,000 residents and encompassing a 4.5 square mile area, is a community of friendly people and charming homes. It is governed by a Board of Trustees, and has an excellent school system (pre-kindergarten through grade 12) , with three churches, diverse cultural, and recreational amenities. Incorporated in 1912, the village was originally called Riverside. Walter J. Kohler envisioned the village as a garden/industrial community. Kohler is just four miles west of Lake Michigan and Sheboygan, about halfway between Milwaukee and Green Bay. The Sheboygan River flows past the village and eventually into Lake Michigan in Sheboygan. The village’s location on the river and near the lake ensures outdoor recreational opportunities are plentiful. As a world class destination and a travel lover’s dream, the quaint but thriving village offers luxurious attractions including an upscale resort, picturesque golf courses, gourmet restaurants and opulent spas.

For tourists with a hankering for the rugged outdoors, Kohler also provides plenty of hiking trails and water-based sports on its lakes and rivers. There is always something going on in Kohler, from a renowned food and wine festival to an entire weekend celebrating chocolate.

Located 7 miles from Sheboygan between Interstate 43 and Wisconsin Highway 23 is the Village of Oostburg, which was settled by Dutch immigrants in the 1840’s. Just one walk through the quiet streets and you’ll quickly see the many reminders of those early settlers, including tulips, miniature windmills and neat and tidy homes. You’ll feel at home in Oostburg because of the close-knit, family friendly community. Every other summer, on the second Friday in August be sure to visit August Fest, which is the biggest block party in the village. On every other Friday night it seems as though the entire town turns out to cheer on and support the football or basketball teams.

The Interurban Trail, once the Milwaukee Electric and Light Company route, is a 40 mile paved path connecting Milwaukee and Sheboygan with a trailhead in downtown Oostburg.
