President's Message

A Message from Dr. Skrade

Our theme, accompany, provides a wonderful lens to frame our actions and goals this year. The act of accompaniment is integral to the charisms of our Holy Founders. We walk beside the students entrusted to our care as they seek to become their best selves. What an inspiration it is to witness this important work—from the classroom to the stage to the field.

Our annual Service-Learning Kick Off, led by the Languages Other Than English Department, hosted representatives from local service agencies who vied for the passionate energy of SHC juniors ready to thoughtfully serve the community, and of course, all students continue to engage in service integrated in our curriculum. The completion and dedication of the Chorus Studio marks a new era for our student performers, many of whom also graced the stage in the fall production of Arsenic and Old Lace.

Meanwhile, SHC Athletics has enjoyed thrilling successes throughout the season. The girls volleyball team won the WCAL title and the CCS Open Division Championship, finishing in the top four ranked teams in all of Northern California. Our football team posted a thrilling comeback victory to secure the first leg of the Bruce-Mahoney and qualified for the CCS Playoffs for the second year in a row. Our Irish for a Day Program filled up within an hour, and thousands of people turned out at this year’s Open House. Such success is hard to keep a secret!

Within these pages you will meet a few members of the Class of 2022 and also learn about SHC alumni whose career paths answer SHC’s call to Enter to Learn, Leave to Serve. You will get to know our talented new choral director and hear from SHC parents (both past and current), and so much more.

We continue to live out this year’s theme as an extension of our school’s mission to provide the finest education in an inclusive Catholic community of faith.

Sincerely,

Melinda Lawlor Skrade, PhD

President
