TIEMPO: NEW JERSEY OFFICIALS TAKE PART IN ECONOMIC TRADE MISSION TO MEXICO

On this edition of Tiempo, we learn more about a recent state-led international trade mission to Mexico by officials in New Jersey. Gov. Phil Murphy alongside the statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the nonprofit Choose New Jersey recently spent a three-day, business-oriented trip to Mexico.

The mission focused on deepening economic, educational and cultural partnerships between the Garden State and Mexico. There are more than 2 million Latinos who live in New Jersey, according to the 2020 U.S. Census.

The Dean will be responsible for the following:

ProgramandCurriculumDevelopment -Develop academic and professionalasset portfolios in high demand, market-relevant degrees, certificates, and customized educationalofferings.

-Lead and ensure the appropriate outcomes of programs through the development, implementation, and academic review of undergraduateand graduate degree programs and certificates.

-Ensure that educational programs meetappropriate professional standards and oversee programmatic accreditation activities.

Schooland Student Centric Leadership -Lead key academic program responsibilities; strategic planning, hiring, performance management, and enterprise-wide relationship building.

-Collaboratively manage program enrollment, retention, and graduation initiatives as part of the academic affairs team.

-Create an academic community supporting diverse adult student populations.

Community Engagement -Conceive, implement, and lead initiatives associated with Social Sciences, Humanities, and Education -Collaborate with Vice President of Community and Government Relations to develop relationships with government, for-profit, and non-profit organizations leaders. Construct partnerships and beneficial relationships, strengthening the University’s educational and service commitment.

-Participate in professional organizations as appropriate to maintain currency in the academic field.

-Represent the School with internal and external audiences through committees, meetings, social media, and conferences.

Funding Expansion -Work closely withthe Chief Advancement Officer on initiatives to advance the mission of the School, including identifyingand obtaining external funding to expand the work of the School.

-Identify Universityaligned grant sources and develop grant proposals in a departmentally collaborative environment, working closely with the Provost, Deans, and associated senior staff to expand grant acquisition strategies.

Competencies: -Strategic planning, implementation, measurement, and recalibration, as aligned with institutional needs.

-Understanding of work in industries employing graduates of these disciplines.

-Willingness to embrace alternatives to traditional higher education viewpoints.

-Data-oriented planning and coordinating curriculum development, implementation, and review.

-Willingness to engage in student recruitment and retention initiatives.

-Experience with programmatic accreditation in appropriate industries.

Minimum Education and Experience: -Earned doctorate in an area of Social Science or Humanities.

-A minimum of 6 years of experience as faculty or/and administrator in a higher education or similar environment with experience in developing and managing undergraduate and graduate related programs in Social Sciences, Humanities, and/or Education.

-Significant leadership experience in a related industry can replace 3 years of faculty/administrator experience.

-Program oversight experience in these disciplines.

Preferred Experience:

-Experience integrating real world learning opportunities and academic programs.

-Experience writing grants and administering sponsored programs.

Summary: We are looking for an innovative, student-oriented, and service-driven leader for an exciting opportunity to serve as the Assistant Dean and Academic Program Director of the School of Science and Technology. Under the direction of the Dean, the Assistant Dean and Academic Program Director assists in the general administration of all academic aspects of assigned academic programs in the School of Science and Technology.

The Assistant Dean and Academic Program Director will be responsible for the following:

ProgramandCurriculumDevelopment -Under the direction of the Dean, leadthe development, implementation, continuous improvement and review of academic programs, certificates, and customized educational offerings in Artificial Intelligence -Support the University to incorporate AI into courses across the curriculum.

-Ensure high quality, currency and relevance of assigned academic programs through activities such as periodic market reviews, continuous improvement based on feedback from industry and government organizational partners, students, alumni, and other stakeholders.

-Oversee the development and implementation of the programs’ learning outcomes assessments.

-Ensure that educational programs meet appropriate professional standards and programmatic accreditation activities.

-Supports the Dean in the recruitment, approval, and evaluation of mentors and subject matter experts (SME’s).

Student Centric Leadership -Engage in coordinated outreach and support of students to enhance student success and persistence.

-Collaboratively manage assigned program enrollment, retention, and graduation initiatives with

appropriate academic staff.

-Assist in leading key academic program responsibilities; strategic planning, hiring, performance management, enterprise-wide relationship building, and donor development.

-Assist the Dean in administrating the University’s academic policies.

Community Engagement -Conceive, implement,and assist in leading innovative initiatives associated with developing and engage external professional organizations, constituencies, and markets.

-Construct partnershipsand beneficial relationships, strengthening the University’s educational and service commitment.

-Participate in professional organizations as appropriate to maintain currency in the academic field.

-Represent the School with internal and external audiences through committees, meetings, social media, and conferences.

Funding Expansion -Support the Deaninthe identification, writing and managing of grants to support the School’s students and programs.

Competencies: -Willingness to embrace alternatives to traditional higher education viewpoints.

Ability to: -Work with professional and support staff, and the community at large, -Work at a distance with students, mentors, and other professionals, and -Use technology to communicate, synthesize information, and prepare reports.

Knowledge of: -current issues, trends and opportunities in relevant academic field(s), -current issues and trends in adult learning, distance learning, and online education.

-Experience integrating real world examples into academic programs.

-Demonstrable competencies related to the areas of responsibility described above, particularly as related to Artificial Intelligence.

Requirements: Minimum Education and Experience -Possession of a doctorate in a relevant academic discipline.

-A minimum of 2 years of experience as faculty or administrator in a higher education or similar environment with experience in developing and managing undergraduate or graduate programs.

-At least 2 years of professional experience in Artificial Intelligence.

-Significant leadership experience in Artificial Intelligence can replace 3 years of faculty/administrator experience.

-Experience in developing and managing degree and certificates programs, working with students, and managing instructional staff. *TESU strives to offer a flexible work environment while balancing the operational needs of the University.

TITLE: Financial Aid Specialist DEPARTMENT:

Financial Aid/Student Affairs

FUNCTION: Coordinates and administers all facets of one or more aid programs and/or major office operations, ensuring that programs and/or office operations are managed effectively and efficiently with a strong customer service orientation, and in compliance with federal, state and institutional regulations. Educates and counsels students and parents on financial aid opportunities and application process. Performs verification review and database match resolution. Delivers funds in a timely fashion. Reconciles and reports on the status of assigned programs or operations.

REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Financial Aid SUPERVISES: N/A MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 1. Coordinates and administers all facets of one or more aid programs and/or major office operations with a strong customer service orientation including application process, grant/scholarship program, Direct Loan program and processing, student employment, default loan prevention, SAP review and processing, monitoring of student enrollment status, recalculation of aid eligibility, end of year reconciliation and reporting, consumer information support, as well as entrance and exit counseling.

2. Maintains current knowledge in all aspects of financial aid including changes to federal and state regulations, participating in annual training, professional organizations, and conferences to keep abreast of new information and program changes to be implemented.

3. Provides outstanding customer service to students, parents, staff, and community. Responds promptly to requests for service and assistance.

4. Counsels students and parents on financial aid opportunities, Direct Loan entrance and exit procedures, application process and status, delivery of funds and managing college costs and debt.

5. Assists with the awarding and reporting requirements for all State of New Jersey financial aid programs, including but not limited to Tuition Assistance Grant (TAG), Community College Opportunity Grant (CCOG), and NJSTARS to ensure compliance with regulations and policies.

6. Prepares all forms, consumer information disclosures and student communication to inform students of program eligibility requirements, their rights and responsibilities and institutional procedures related to the program or services.

7. Educates students on the information required for completing financial aid applications and

assists them with accurate data input as required by Federal and State financial aid websites.

8. Assists students with accessing various online Federal and State Financial aid portals required to facilitate the Financial Aid application and verification process.

9. Supports development of content for the Financial Aid website and ensures content is accurate and current.

10. Reviews, reconciles and reports on the status of the assigned applications and files and recalculates aid eligibility to verify data accuracy; imports and exports applicant and disbursement rosters and submits changes.

11. Provides technical and administrative support in the fund delivery process; coordinates and manages program funds and their reconciliation program(s) or operation(s) on a monthly and year-end basis.

12. Imports and exports ISIR’s and corrects transactions, resolves processing and transmissions errors and runs auto packaging.

13. Coordinates the review and correction of ISIR records selected for verification.

14. Conducts annual financial set-up process.

15. Performs federal verification, including special circumstance reviews, C-codes and reject resolution, dependency overrides and professional judgements.

16. Defines and implements procedures to determine student eligibility and to deliver aid and other financial aid services to students.

17. Represents the office, as appropriate, on college committees and professional meetings.

18. Performs additional tasks or duties as assigned by the Assistant Director, Director of Financial Aid or other designated management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge, SkillsandAbilities: Demonstrates understanding of the community college mission and practices an open door policy. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of state and federal laws and regulations of agencies governing the student aid programs assigned to the position. Function knowledge of Ellucian’s Colleague or other similar system is preferred.

Has basic proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment doing multiple tasks and projects while attending to the immediate needs of members of the campus community. Exhibits strong skills in: ● Communication ● Customer and Student Focus ● Building Relationships ● Organizing ● Planning Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.

Experience: 3 or more years of progressively responsible financial aid experience preferably at acommunity college.
