Chrissy Buteas is the President & CEO of the HealthCare Institute of New Jersey (HINJ) Founded in 1997, HINJ serves as the trade association for leading research-based biopharmaceutical and medical technology companies in New Jersey
Chrissy Buteas, a seasoned leader, has held significant positions in her career. Before joining HINJ, she served as the VP of Government Affairs at Optimum, a prominent broadband communications and video service provider operating across 21 states. She served as the Chief Government Affairs Officer of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA), a role that enabled her to influence policies affecting the 1 million employees of member companies. She also led the NEW JOBS PAC, the State’s largest and most influential ideological business political action committee.
JERSEY CITY, N.J. | The New Jersey City University (NJCU) Board of Trustees voted unanimously at its regular board meeting today to lift the interim title for Andrés Acebo and officially appoint him as the 13th president of the institution, dating to its founding in 1927.
Acebo has served as interim president since his original appointment on January 17, 2023, leading the university through the most critical period in its 98-year history and orchestrated a remarkable financial and academic recovery Marking the next chapter in delivering accessible public higher education to the Jersey City and Hudson County communities, Acebo signed a letter of intent in May to advance a historic merger to integrate NJCU into Kean University, two mission-aligned institutions, which once completed will create Kean Jersey City

Thomas Edison State University (TESU) and the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (NJDOL) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to continue a first-of-its-kind, statewide Apprenticeship Degree Initiative aimed at expanding access to higher education for New Jersey’s apprentices. Funded by NJDOL, the three-year, $5 million initiative will support the development of college-credit pathways for registered apprenticeship programs, aligning workforce training with higher education credentials This agreement follows a $849,000 apprenticeship evaluation and scholarship program with the DOL that has been successfully completed
