Inspiration Board The inspiration board was the root of my design concept. I wanted to connect the DoIT Communications Office to the UW-Madison Campus in another way beyond just using badger red. I took it a step further and incorporated the vibrant and lively colors of the Memorial Union Terrace. Here, one would know they were at the UW campus without seeing Bucky or red colors. I also wanted to bring this kind of atmosphere to the office space, especially because the Memorial Union Terrace creates a sense of community and togetherness.
Furniture Selction For the furniture selection, I went with a modern theme. I chose bright and saturated colors that would mimic those of the Memorial Union Terrace. I color coded offices spaces with specific chair colors and went with red, grey, and brown colors for the public areas. I also incorporated Zintra ceiling panels and clouds to address acoustics in the lounge and collaborative work areas by lessoning the noise, thus encouraging a focused work environment.

Material Choices For the material choices, I began by choosing the paint colors (far left). These colors are depicted in the translucent doors of each office space as there would be an Ombre effect of each color to help with wayfinding throughout the space. The chair upholstery (far right) will directly match these colors in each space. For the floor, I went with a blueish grey carpet (bottom middle) to help with sound and comfort for the sit-stand desks. I also chose a light wood color for the kitchen space to help with cleanliness in that area.
Perspectives Here, are the visuals of what the space would look like after the remodel. In the top right corner, I have displayed what the interiors of the office spaces will look like. By incorporating shelves, wall and desk space, each induvial office space also has the opportunity for personalization and self-expression. The bottom left rendering displays the lounge space. It shows how biophilia is also present in order to promote mental well-being. The top-right rendering is of the kitchen and displays the art feature inspired by rhe Memorial Union Terrace and DoIT Communications logo that are incoorporated. The bottom right rendering displays the exterior of the offices. The doors of each office are color-coded and coordinated to help improve wayfinding.

Floor Plan The floor plan displays the allocated public and private spaces. It shows how each department is designated to a specific area and how the color of each zone helps with wayfinding and circulation. The entry has been strategically placed leading into the kitchen where the first visual image one would see is the DoIT Communications logo wall and the Memorial Union Terrace art feature above the table. Another important detail is the way in which all enclosed spaces have been placed along the wall without windows to help encourage natural light flow.

Floor Plan This is the overall plan for the space. There is a designated space for the entry to avoid weather disturbances throughout the rest of the apartment. The kitchen and dining spaces are located adjacent to each other for convenience. In the design, there is also a small bar dividing the kitchen and living room to separate the spaces while still creating a visual connection. The exit to the patio has been strategically placed near the living room to allocate the public entertainment space to one region.
Furniture I have chosen a predominantly tan and navy color scheme and incorporated a light wood into the space to compliment the dark values. I have selected comfortable furniture that would be suitable for both the occupants and guests. In addition, I have chosen urban, industrial ceiling fixtures to create a strong sense of style in the space. For the bathroom, I have incoorporated fixtures and equiptment that are ADA accessible to accommodate my client and all of his guests. In the living and dining areas, I have included chairs with arms for safety and prevention from falling.

Materials Here, I have displayed the materials for the apartment space. I have chosen colors that will be easily differentiable from each other thus creating a safer environment. The wood flooring will be used in the kitchen and dining space along with dark cabinets, dark furniture, and a light paint color for contrast. As for the living room and bedrooms, I have selected a dark grey carpet, light paint, and medium fabrics.

LUXURY & SOPHISTICATED Inspiration Board This inspiration board is meant to show the feeling that will be depicted in the apartment through the use of furniture, fixtures, and equiptment. I chose three main colors--purple, gold, and teal. These colors display luxury and sophistcation and will be perfect for an entertainment space during both day and night. The colors were also very popular in the “Miami Modern style which was the inspiration for my overall deign.
Furniture The furniture selection for the New York City apartment is inspired by mid-century modernism. I especially paid attention to the spashes of color in the Morris Lapidus Fontainbleau, and incoorporated this kind of style into my design. I also selected the colors from the inspiration board to give the space a lively feel, but desaturated them to give the apartment an overall more sophisticated and upscale atmosphere. I chose mostly gold and purple colors to elevate the luxurious style and then added a pop of teal for visual interest.

Perspective This perspective of the space displays the architectural elements. The spiral staircase is the focal point, allowing for an extravagant entrance into the space. I have also incorporated large windows to increase the natural light during the day and allow for extraordinary city views at night. There is also wall space for art. All of these features ultimately bring the entertainment space to life making it the desired place to host events and spend time.

Floor Plan This is a sample of computer generated work from my mechanical engineering class. It is a house I designed showing I am able to create 2D and 3D entities in AutoCAD, as well as my familiarty with creating floor plans and elevations. This layout was designed to accommodate the needs of a four-member family. The design is meant to encourage circulation throughout the house. The client emphasized the importance of family time, so I have allocated the public spaces to be near each other.

Model This Hotel and Conference center was designed to show circulation throughout the building while still focusing on aesthetics, functionality, and space. There are two larger spiral-like staircases and then one small staircase leading to the top pavillion which would encompass a small food bar and seating. This Hotel and Conference center is unique because the exterior is utilized just as much as the interiors. This design was featured in Design 2017 at the Ruth Davis Design Exhibition.

Prototype This chair was created with basswood and cut from a laser printer. The prototype represents a chair that doubles as both furniture and art. It was inspired by a textile from the 19th century. The shapes of the chair were influenced by the flower petals. The colors were also taken from the textile. This design was my second featured project in Design 2017 at the Ruth Davis Design Exhibition.
