Why is the new Birth Center important for residents of South Overland Park?

The South Overland Park Birth Center is amazing. With beautiful spacious rooms, wonderful and experienced nurses, 24/7 OB Hospitalist and a level II NICU for babies needing additional help, they have thought of everything for a safe and comfortable delivery for mom and baby.

What should a mom-to-be expect her childbirth experience to be like at AdventHealth South Overland Park Birth Center?

The rooms at AdventHealth South Overland Park are very open and are designed for mom to labor, deliver and recover in the same room. There is a full-size sleeper sofa for dad and other thoughtful amenities in the room. How can expectant mothers personalize their care plan?

We’ll discuss your birth plan prior to delivery to review all your options. While birth plans don’t always go to plan, the nurses at AdventHealth will strive to meet your needs and wishes whenever possible.

What’s the idea behind family-centered care?

Just like at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, AdventHealth South Overland Park focuses on the needs of mom, baby and family. Moms and babies stay together in the room and are cared for by the same nurse. If mom wants, their support person can stay with them through the entire delivery. AdventHealth does an amazing job of helping the family bond with their newest family member. Why should an expectant mother work with a maternity navigator?

Meeting with the maternity navigator is important in preparing for delivery. It gives the patient a chance to see the Birth Center, complete pre-admission information, ask questions and create their birth plan for the big day.
