PROJECT GOALS
MAXIMIZE THE SITE
Utilize large floor to ceiling windows, to let in the year-round natural sunlight. Create an indoor / outdoor experience by utilizing open space plan, floor to ceiling windows, large sliding glass doors, surrounding landscape. Privacy achieved through space planning around existing conditions. Security is achieved through the large concrete walls and solid materials / landscaping surrounding the home.
RESPECTING HISTORY
Design a space personalized to the client yet remains historically accurate. Keep the original design intent by utilizing the original materials; redwood, concrete, canvas, and glass.
Utilize and showcase the pinwheel design through space planning. Make minimal repairs if necessary.
DESIGN WITH BUILDING + ERA
Design furniture to match original casework and original style. Showcase international style through art, objects, and artifacts. Understand how the daylight effects each part of the house. Consider the natural sunlight and how this effects the interior while space planning the studio. Create an open and free - flowing circulation plan to correlate with the original design intent.
DESIGN FOR THE CLIENT
Personalize the space to the clients needs while also respecting the history of the home. Consider their specific needs while space planning Consider their individual needs while designing the studio. Utilize branding throughout the studio and screening room to promote their business and designs.
Implement multi-functional furniture that will accommodate to the individual needs of both clients.
LIVE-WORK FOUNDATIONS
Creating a space where the user can find a balance between life and work. Designate a specific wing of the home for work to create a separation of live + work. Integrate collections from their travels or early examples of their work to create a personal environment in the studio.
Surround the studio and screening room with branding, as well as examples of their work. Create individual spaces but also have an area for collaboration.
