Playing a hot tune

Tonica News photo/Dave Cook

Nicola Carus, a member of Ottawa High School’s Chemistry Club, plays a piece of classical Russian music that was sonically transferred through a propane-powered fire tube at IVCC’s SciFest last Friday. As Carus played different notes, the flames moved accordingly. Other demonstrations at the popular SciFest involved geology, gravity, biology, electricity, chemical reactions, radiation, physics and many more scientific principles. Vol. 144 No. 21
