Congratulations 4-H Participants and Award Winners CArroll, Lee and Whiteside county 4-H Results

As the 2025 fair season comes to a close, I am filled with pride at the accomplishments of our 4-H members in Carroll, Lee, and Whiteside counties. Each fair was a celebration of dedication, discovery, and growth—a chance for youth to demonstrate not only the results of their projects, but also the confidence and skills they are building for the future.

Attending this year’s fairs, I was struck by the energy and creativity on display. From livestock to visual arts, photography to environmental science, our 4-H members showcased the wide range of interests and talents that make this program so unique. The curiosity, problem-solving, and resilience they exhibited remind me that 4-H is about far more than projects—it is about preparing young people to thrive in life.

4-H is one of the many ways University of Illinois Extension connects research-based learning with local communities. Through clubs, workshops, camps, and service opportunities, Extension ensures that youth across our counties have access to hands-on learning

experiences that foster leadership, responsibility, and a lifelong love of learning.

The success of 4-H rests on a strong community of supporters. Volunteers, judges, donors, and fair partners make it possible for youth to take risks, stretch themselves, and discover their passions. Your contributions—whether time, expertise, or financial support—ensure that every 4-H member has the chance to shine. I extend my heartfelt thanks for the countless hours and resources you invest in our program.

For families who may be exploring 4-H for the first time: there is no better moment to get involved. Youth ages 8–18 can participate in community clubs, camps, and special interest programs, while Cloverbuds (ages 5–7) are encouraged to start their own journey of exploration. Beyond fairs, 4-H offers leadership opportunities, service experiences, and connections that last a lifetime.

To our 2025 4-H members—you inspire us. Your courage to learn, your commitment to

excellence, and your willingness to share your talents make a difference in your communities and beyond. You are showing us all what it means to lead with heart, hands, head, and health.

As we look ahead, let’s continue to celebrate the spirit of 4-H and the bright future being built by today’s youth. Thank you for making this fair season unforgettable, and congratulations again on your many achievements.

With pride and appreciation,

University of Illinois Extension County Director

Long time volunteer Gordon Kelm talks and judges Silas Newmans Robotics project during general projects day at the 4-H Show.
