Share those special memories with Celebrations Celebrations features weddings, engagements, anniversaries, and other happy news, such as birthdays, reunions, and four- or five-generation photos.

As a special way to preserve these memorable occasions, quarter-, half- or full-page announcements can be purchased.

Paid announcements are determined by word count: no more than WORDS FOR A QUARTER PAGE NO MORE THAN words for a half page, and up to 340 words for a full page. Those paying for announcements will have the opportunity to proof them before publication.

Customers will be called when the announcement is ready to be proofed.

At that time, any corrections or additions can be made as needed at SVM’s Dixon and Sterling offices.

For convenience, proofs will be emailed without calls whenever possible.

Photos may be submitted in color or black and white, and in any size.

Emailed photos should be in JPEG format with a resolution of 200 and a WIDTH OF AT LEAST INCHES for best quality.

All announcements can be printed without photos if desired.

Celebration forms are available at the Telegraph and Daily Gazette classified departments or by email.

Sauk Valley Media is not responsible for errors due to unreadable information.

A daytime phone number and email address (if available) are requested to help to insure accuracy.

Weddings are available in basic (free) form (one photo of the couple), quarter-page paid (one photo), half-page paid (two photos), and fullpage paid (up to four photos).

The wedding form should be returned preferably within 2 to 4 months after the wedding date.

Engagements are available in basic (free) form (one photo of the couple), two styles of quarter-page paid (one photo only), half-page paid (two photos), and full-page paid (up to four photos).

Anniversary announcements are available in the basic (free) form (one current photo), quarter-page paid (one or two photos), halfpage paid (two photos), and full-page paid (up to four photos).

Birthday announcements for area seniors 80 years of age and older can be at no charge without special wording. There is a charge for those younger than 80.

The basic (free) form (one current photo), quarter-page paid (one or two photos), halfpage paid (two photos), and full-page paid (up to four photos) are available.

For 100th and older birthdays, SVM will publish free announcements in a paid format; the announcement size will be determined by the editor.

Reunions are for area residents who are gathering, or have gathered, for a family or class reunion.

Reunion items will be edited due to space limitations, and lists of all those attending are not

available in the free format.

Photos also are not available for a free announcement, but can be used in any of the paid announcements. If a large group photo is submitted, only one can be used in the quarterpage format, one photo is recommended in the half-page format, and up to four normally can be used in the full-page format. Large group photos with long lists of names may require at least a half-page paid announcement.

Note: A group photo for a class reunion only can be submitted at no charge for the Scrapbook page of SV Weekend by email to photos@ saukvalley.com or in person.

Celebrations, class reunions of 70 years and more will be available in the quarter-page format at no charge, with a photo allowed.

Five-generation and four-generation photos with names, relationships, and places of residence of those pictured may be submitted for publication.

Multiple photos from the same submitter will need to be on a paid basis.

Generation announcements are, of course, available on a paid (custom) basis in quarterpage (one photo), halfpage (two photos), and full-page (up to four photos) form.

Other celebrations include retirements, promotions, awards, honors, baptisms, con-

Adeline School Reunion

The Riverdale High School Class of 1989’s 25-year reunion will be at 5 p.m., July 11, 2014, at Peacock’s in Port Byron, along with the Riverdale Alumni Pub Crawl.

The class will meet casually at 7 p.m., July 12, 2014, for dinner at The River House in Moline.

There also will be a family picnic at 11 a.m., July 13, 2014, at Illiniwek Park.

The 21st annual Adeline School Reunion will be at 12:30 p.m. July 13, 2014, with a potluck at the shelter house behind the school in Adeline.

Those attending are asked to bring two dishes to pass, table service, and lawn chairs.

Blaire Sambdman

Graduation Blaire Sambdman, the daughter of David and Cindy Sambdman of Dixon, graduated with high honors, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in community health from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign on May 17, 2014.

While at Illinois, Sambdman served as president of the Applied Health Sciences Council, was active in the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, Future Health Care Executives, Illini Pride, and the INTERLINK mentor program. In addition, she completed internships at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana and Disabled Sports USA in Rockville, Maryland.

Sambdman also earned certification as a certified health education specialist. Only 11,000 people in the U.S. hold a CHES certification as an expert in the field of health education.

She plans to pursue a career in health promotion.

Marta M. Humblet, the daughter of Carol Simon and the late Louis Simon, graduated with her master’s degree in nursing April 30, 2014, from Georgetown University School of Nursing and Health Sciences in Washington, District of Columbia.

She will continue her employment with Ministry Health Care as a family nurse practitioner in Owen, Wisconsin.

Sarah Smith, a 2010 AshtonFranklin-Center High School graduate, graduated summa cum laude from the University of Wisconsin – Platteville on May 10, 2014, receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in soil and crop science.

Sarah will continue her education and has accepted a full-time graduate assistantship at Northern Illinois University to pursue a Master of Science degree in geography.

Dr. Thomas John Readel

Dr. Thomas John Readel, the son of Dr. John and Mary Readel of Cudjoe, Florida, graduated from Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He graduated with a degree in dental medicine.

He graduated from Sterling High School in 2006, and from the University of Notre Dame in 2010.

He recently was commissioned as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. He will be stationed for a year at the Great Lakes base in North Chicago, participating in an advanced education in general dentistry residency.

He will be the third generation Navy dentist in the family, following his grandfather, Dr. Harold Readel, and his father.
