Lee County Council on Aging and Whiteside County Senior Center will be closed on Friday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. Lifescape meals will not be served at LCCOA. Lee-Ogle Transportation System and Whiteside County Public Transportation will be closed.

SENIOR SPELLING BEE AT WCSC
The winners of the local Spelling Bee on May 29, were Marilyn Quick, first place, and Ron Wolber, second place. The judges were Pam Erby and Bob Sondgrath, and the pronouncer was Marie Rombouts. The participants were Arlyn Thomson, Johnnie Thomson, Marilyn Quick, Ron Wolber, Lois Helms, Jill Horn, Jim Boesen, Joan Harms, Joan Johnson, Vernice Morath, Dottie Wimmer, Dee Robinson, and Ellen Burch. The last two spellers went through 39 rounds of words.
