Mr. and Mrs. Edward Schweiss of Sterling will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary June 17, 2015. Corrine “Connie” Nichols and Edward Schweiss were married June 17, 1950, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling. They are the parents of five children, Karen (Eric) Zigler, Kraig (Valerie) Schweiss, Kristine (Thom) Gallardo, and Kim (Cliff) Hansen, all of Sterling; and

Karl (Darla) Schweiss of Yukon, Oklahoma; 16 grandchildren, and seven greatgrandchildren. Ed met Connie, who worked as a waitress at the Green Lantern, when he was a telephone lineman. After a short-lived job at Northwestern Steel and Wire, Ed was hired at Lawrence Brothers where he worked as an accountant and eventually paymaster for 41 years.

In retirement, Ed and Connie have given much of their time and talent to St. Mary and the community. Connie organized and catered many receptions, funeral dinners and luncheons in the parish center, and also worked as a receptionist and gardener there. Ed and Connie also volunteered at CGH Medical Center and hosted a few

bus tours through a local bank. Ed has served as a tax preparer for 25 years at the senior center. On Friday, June 19, 2015, after renewing their vows at the 8:30 a.m. Mass in the chapel, there will be a reception for friends and family. All are welcome. No gifts, please. Norbert served one tour in the Korean War with the Army Rangers. He has been married to Nancy (Jones) Padilla for 57 years.

They have four children and eight grandchildren. Norbert worked for 30 years at Northwestern Steel and Wire, retiring in 1991. Share those special memories with Celebrations Celebrations features weddings, engagements, anniversaries, and other happy news, such as birthdays, reunions, and four- or five-generation photos. As a special way to preserve these memorable occasions, quarter-, halfor full-page announcements can be purchased. Paid announcements are determined by word count: no more than 125 words for a quarter page, no more than 250 words for a half page, and up to 340 words for a full page. Those paying for announcements will have the opportunity to proof them before publication. Customers will be called when the announcement is ready to be proofed. At that time, any corrections or additions can be made as needed at SVM’s Dixon and Sterling offices. For convenience, proofs will be emailed without calls whenever possible. Photos may be submitted in color or black and

white, and in any size. Emailed photos should be in JPEG format with a resolution of 200 and a width of at least 5 inches for best quality. All announcements can be printed without photos if desired. Celebration forms are available at the Telegraph and Daily Gazette classified departments or by email. Sauk Valley Media is not responsible for errors due to unreadable information. A daytime phone number and email address (if available) are requested to help to ensure accuracy. Weddings are available in basic (free) form (one photo of the couple), quarter-page paid (one photo), half-page paid (two photos), and fullpage paid (up to four photos). The wedding form should be returned preferably within 2 to 4 months after the wedding date. Engagements are available in basic (free) form (one photo of the

Reunions are for area residents who are gathering, or have gathered, for a family or class reunion. Reunion items will be edited due to space limitations, and lists of all those attending are not available in the free format. Photos also are not available for a free announcement, but can be used in any of the paid announcements. If a large group photo is submitted, only one can be used in the quarter-

page format, one photo is recommended in the half-page format, and up to four normally can be used in the full-page format. Large group photos with long lists of names may require at least a half-page paid announcement. Note: A group photo for a class reunion only can be submitted at no charge for the Scrapbook page of SV Weekend by email to photos@ saukvalley.com or in person. For publication in Celebrations, class reunions of 70 years and more will be available in the quarter-page format at no charge, with a photo allowed. Five-generation and four-generation photos with names, relationships, and places of residence of those pictured may be submitted for publication. Multiple photos from the same submitter will need to be on a paid basis. Generation announcements are, of course,
