Mr. and Mrs. Frank Holmes celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary April 8, 2016.

Frank and Arlene (Deets) Holmes were married April 8, 1956, at East Jordan United Methodist Church.

They are the parents of Dennis (Sue Baird) Holmes of Mukwanago, Wisconsin, Penny (Ron) Bollivar of Wataga, and Michael (Lisa Fritz) Holmes of Sterling.

They have seven grandchildren,

Jason Bollivar, Neil and Jenna (Bollivar) McCrery, Kara Sue Bollivar, Joey and Tess (Holmes) Gramann, Tyler Holmes, Zachary and Lauren (Wiersema) Holmes, and Kristian Holmes.

They also have three great-grandchildren, David and Zoey McCrery and Stella Holmes.

After their marriage, Frank and Arlene farmed the Wolf farm on Old Polo Road for 20 years, retiring

from farming in 1976. They built a new house on Penrose Road.

Frank owned two coin-operated laundries in Sterling, and eventually owned the Country Kitchen Restaurant.

Arlene went back to work in banking for 20 years. Frank started his own business, Sauk Valley Videotaping Co., and ran this for many years.

He sold his other businesses and

went to work for the state of Illinois, retiring from there in July 1995.

Arlene soon followed him in retirement in November 1996.

They have since enjoyed their winter months in Mission, Texas, and Arizona.

Mr. & Mrs. Michael “Mike” Longtin Michael “Mike” Longtin and Linda “Abbie” Albers of Dixon will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, April 16, 2016.

Mike is a retired engineer for National Manufacturing Co. He now enjoys transporting cars for Ken Nelson Auto Group. Abbie continues to run her own successful dog grooming business after 45 years.

Together, Mike and Abbie enjoy weekend excursions with their local

car club, activities with their church, and spending as much time as they can with their family.

They have five children, Michelle Longtin of Dixon; Kara (Dave) Knutte of Lemont; Darin (Stephanie) Longtin and Krista Longtin, both of Dixon; and Brianna (William) Ellis of Woodridge.

They have 10 beautiful grandchildren.

Happy 85th Birthday, Merrill “Bud” Mohr Merrill “Bud” Mohr was born May 1, 1931, in Dundee, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Marjorie Mohr.

Bud has five children, Scott (Cherie) Mohr, Joseph Mohr, David (Carlene) Mohr, and Jane (Steve) Kinney, all of this area; and Philip (Grace) Mohr of Long Beach, California.

Bud has eight grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and two great-grandsons. He also has a

special friend, Joan.

Bud lives in Como and still works for Birkey’s in Prophetstown.
