Share those special memories with Celebrations Celebrations features weddings, engagements, anniversaries, and other happy news such as birthdays, reunions, and fouror five-generation photos.

As a special way to preserve these memorable occasions, quarter-, halfor full-page announcements can be purchased.

Paid announcements are determined by word count: no more than 125 words for a quarter page, no more than 250 words for a half page, and up to 340 words for a full page.

Photos may be submitted in color or black and white, and in any size.

Emailed photos should be in JPEG format with a resolution of 200 and a width of at least 5 inches for best quality.

Celebration forms are available at the Telegraph or Daily Gazette

classified departments.

Sauk Valley Media is not responsible for errors due to unreadable information, and a reprinting of the announcement may not be possible based on available space. A local daytime phone number is required.

Weddings are available in basic (free) form, quarter-page paid, half-page paid, and full-page paid.

The wedding form should be returned preferably within 2 to 4 months after the wedding date.

Engagements are available in basic (free) form (one photo) and in two styles of quarter-page paid (one photo only).

Other paid sizes also are available on a custom basis.

Anniversary announcements with accompanying photos will be published

on a free or paid basis.

Announcements beginning with the 25th anniversary, and then in 5-year increments up to 60 years, can be at no charge. Other increments will require a paid announcement.

Anniversaries of 70 years and more are available at no charge.

After 60th-year anniversaries, SVM will publish free announcements, without special wording, without the 5-year increment restriction.

Birthday announcements with accompanying photos for area seniors more than 80 years of age can be at no charge without special wording.

There is a charge for those younger than 80.

able showing the information acceptable for the basic (free) form, which covers one photo.

Multiple photos from submitters will need to be on a paid basis.

Both reunions and generation announcements are, of course, available on a paid (custom) basis in quarter-page, half-page, and full-page form.

Note: Large group photos with long lists of names may require at least a halfpage paid announcement.

Other celebrations include retirements, promotions, awards, honors, baptisms, confirmations, baby’s arrival (able to contain more information than standard birth announcements, along with a photo), and other occasions, customers may purchase a quarter-page (one photo – two if space

allows), half-page, (up to two photos) or full-page (up to four photos) paid announcement in Celebrations on a custom basis.

Paid announcements can be proofread before publication.

Customers will be called when the announcement is ready to be proofed. At that time, any corrections or additions can be made as needed. Proofs will be emailed without calls whenever possible.

Shepardson & McFadden Jorie Shepardson and Tyler McFadden were united in marriage June 8, 2013, in an outdoor ceremony at The Irish Cottage in Galena. Basil Conroy officiated the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Richard and Betty Shepardson of Polo.

The groom is the son of Tim and LuAnn McFadden of Rock Falls.

Jorie was given in marriage by her father wearing his Marine Dress Blues. A bagpiper provided the music.

Serving as maid of honor was Samantha Shepardson, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Brittany Hansen, friend of the bride; Sarah Cebula, sister of the groom; and Lora Noworatzky, cousin of the bride.

The flower girls were Helen Wenger, cousin of the bride, and Tegan Rauser, cousin of the groom.

Serving as best man was Elmer Justin Mast, friend of the groom. The groomsmen were Andrew Steckling,

friend of the groom; Brian Cebula, brother-in-law of the groom; and Wade Shepardson, brother of the bride.

The ring bearers were Ivan Wenger, cousin of the bride, and Gavin Sands, cousin of the groom.

Serving as ushers were Dan and Daryl Rauser, cousins of the groom.

After the ceremony, a reception was held at The Irish Cottage, hosted by Diane Rauser, aunt of the groom, and Kris Parr, aunt of the bride.

Jorie, a graduate of Northern Illinois University, teaches math at St. Mary’s School in Sterling, works at Walmart in DeKalb, and is continuing her education at NIU. Tyler, a graduate of Illinois State University, works for K & B Transportation Co. in Rochelle.

After a honeymoon trip to Disney World in Orlando, Fla., the couple reside in DeKalb.

Christopher is a 2003 graduate of Mendota High School and a 2009 graduate of Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, where he received a bachelor’s degree in both nursing and biology and a minor in chemistry.

They both are employed at Mendota Community Hospital.

Bridal fashions step into the spotlight RIGHT: A model wears a Badgley Mischka flared trumpet wedding gown with an intricately beaded lace portrait neckline and half sleeves that hugs the waist at the presentation for Spring Summer 2014 New York Bridal Fashion Week, in New York.

This gown’s neckline and hemline dictate the outerwear, according to Carrie Goldberg, associate fashion editor for Martha Stewart Weddings, and a sleeker style allows more room for a coat.

A ball gown or a gown with a long train is the trickiest, but there’s a bubbling trend in ready-to-wear that works for weddings: satin evening coats.
