WESTMONT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PARTNERSHIP

Working in support of the growth and success of Westmont

Greetings, from the Westmont Economic Development Partnership (WEDP) to all our residents, property and business owners that call Westmont home. If you were not aware, WEDP is a publicprivate partnership with the Village of Westmont and the Westmont Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau. The purpose of WEDP is to proactively promote the Village of Westmont in ways that support the retention of our existing business community, recruit new businesses as well as attract and retain residents to the quality of life available in Westmont. WEDP services include business location support, inventory of available commercial and residential properties, site selection tours and general support with business information and location selection services to serve as a key resource on opening or expanding a business in Westmont. This resource also helps to advance projects more quickly from concept to reality as proposals are reviewed and direction provided on moving through the project approval steps. Westmont has several key incentive tools being used to recruit and retain businesses.

Westmont has an active TIF in both our Downtown B-1 Business District and in our 63rd Street South Westmont Business District. Funds created through these TIF Districts help spur new development and support infrastructure investments and upgrades. In the Downtown Westmont B-1 District, Façade Improvement and Life Safety grants are again being made available to business and commercial property owners to help support growth. Additional project incentives can be used based on project location, type, scope and positive economic impact (jobs, sales tax, property tax, etc.) to the village. Commercial development activity in Westmont during 2021 and into 2022 included auto dealership updates and the opening of Market Center at 63rd and Cass, which will be the home to ten new businesses. In addition, we are enjoying several new restaurants throughout the Village as well as business like Golden Basket relocation in Downtown Westmont to include in our mix of 100+ dining destinations! Also about to open in the spring of 2022 is Quincy Station, the new transit-oriented designed luxury multi-family building in the heart of Downtown Westmont. Watch for more new projects as we enter our second 100 years of community. Our central location with excellent transportation and schools and highly educated workforce makes Westmont a desirable place to build, buy and conduct business. By the way, did you know that Westmont has 75 businesses that have served our village for over 25 years? Twenty businesses that have served Westmont for over 50 years? One business that has served Westmont since 1929!

WEDP does ask for your help and support in terms of the identification of any potential new business that you would value in Westmont. Also, if you have experienced a business elsewhere that you think is a good fit for our community, please pass that along – we value your input! Last but not least, if you know someone looking for a new place to live, recommend Westmont, we are happy to connect them with a local realtor! Please contact WEDP with your ideas and recommendations!
