WESTMONT RECOGNIZES EXCELLENCE IN THE COMMUNITY

The Westmont Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau (WCCTB) originally scheduled the Annual Westmont Community Awards Dinner in April 2020 but had to cancel the event due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Later in the year, the WCCTB held individual recognition sessions for each of the award recipients. Photos of the recognitions are available in the Photo Gallery on Westmontchamber.com.

The 2019 Dick Busse Business-of-the-Year Award recognizes a Chamber business that has excelled in community service, business promotion, civic responsibility and contributions to the betterment of the Chamber and the Village of Westmont. The nominees for this award were: Dynamic Perception Dance Company, Hilton Chicago/Oak Brook Hills Resort & Conference Center, Papa Passero’s Family Restaurant, and Urban Veterinary Associates. The Dick Busse Business-of-the-Year award was presented to Papa Passero’s Family Restaurant (6326 S. Cass Avenue) in recognition of their high level of community interaction and support.

The 2019 Roger Westman President’s Award recognizes an individual who has performed outstanding service to the Chamber and the Westmont Community.

The Roger Westman President’s award was presented to Lennie Bowen by Westmont Chamber President Steve Wozny.

2019 Westmont Citizen-of-the-Year Award

recognizes individuals that reside in Westmont and that have demonstrated exceptional community involvement and leadership. Mayor Gunter noted “we have seven wonderful people nominated for the Westmont Citizen of the Year that have made such a positive impact to the success of Westmont.” The nominees for this award were: Marie Charlton, Linda Liddle, Jim Long, Kerry O’Connor, Christa Stanulis, Tracey Valerio Spotts, and Wally VanBuren. The Westmont Citizen-of-the-Year award was presented to James Long by Westmont Mayor Ron Gunter.

The 2019 Educator-of-the-Year Award

recognizes a local educator for their outstanding efforts in their field and to the betterment of the Village of Westmont. The Educator-of-the-Year award was presented to Mrs. Kim Danielski from Westmont High School.

The Rotary Club of Westmont Paul Harris

Award was presented to Lennie Bowen in recognition of his exceptional level of community service and volunteer work. The presenters were Mayor Ron Gunter and Village Trustee Harold Barry.

The 2019 Westmont Special Events Corporation “Jim Wright Making

Memories Award” was presented to Maggie South by Village of Westmont Director of Communications Larry McIntyre and WSEC Entertainment Chair Dave Gullotto.

The 2019 Westmont Community

Improvement Award recognizes individual business property owners and businesses that have improved the appearance of their property. Community Improvement Awards for 2019 were presented to: n Clique Sports Bar & Grill (6010 S. Cass Ave.) n CrossFIt Salire (263 W 61st St) n FMC Natatorium at Ty Warner Park (275 Plaza Drive) n GoPolar Cryotherapy (230 N. Cass Ave.) n Laurel BMW of Westmont (430 E. Ogden Ave.) n McGrath Lexus of Westmont (500 E. Ogden Ave.) Mayor Ron Gunter and Chamber President Steve Wozny both remarked “Congratulations to all the nominees for everything you do to make Westmont a wonderful place to live and work and for being the best community for volunteerism in the state!”
