Welcome to Westmont!
DEAR RESIDENTS AND GUESTS:
A warm Westmont welcome to all! The Village of Westmont is a wonderful community right in the heart of the greater Chicago metro area and we are thankful to have such friendly neighbors. Westmont also enjoys the many guests that visit with us at our many businesses, events and activities throughout the year...a warm Westmont welcome to all.
Westmont celebrated our 100th anniversary in November of 2021 with a wide range of events to recognize the wonderful community we all enjoy. As we move in to our second hundred years, we stand on a solid foundation in terms of community resources and infrastructure. We are well positioned to continue to build and provide for our future growth and success.
To help keep all informed, transparency and communication is critical to the success of Westmont. To help keep connected throughout the year, visit the VIllage of Westmont website at www.westmont.illinois. gov for information on all things Westmont. Also recommend using the “Notify Me” option at the vIllage website, this will allow you to receive emails and text messages and stay aware of events, news and any emergency weather situations. Everyone finds this information helpful, so please register to connect soon. Westmont also offers social media resources to keep all informed.
Westmont is a great place to relax and stay healthy. While the Village of Westmont
is five square miles and about 25,000 residents, our Westmont Park District offers over 150 acres of park property throughout the Village for use by all ages all year-round. Westmont also offers three golf courses to help keep us active and enjoying the great outdoors. In addition, in 2022, Westmont welcomed several new businesses and several celebrated milestone anniversaries like Uncle Bub’s BBQ, which has been serving Westmont for 25 years! In addition, we added 94 units of quality housing with the addition of Quincy Station, the market responded by leasing units at a rapid pace (84% leased as of November 2022) as many new residents choose to live in the heart Downtown Westmont. Also, watch for additional changes like the new West Quincy Streetscape project to be completed in 2023 that will provide lots of outdoor dining and includes three new restaurants to enjoy.
Westmont also benefits greatly from our high-performance local community school districts serving our children from preschool through post-high school levels. In support of our schools, our Westmont Public Library is second to none, offering a fully updated facility, latest technology, fantastic staff and programming for all ages. Enjoy this community resource, pay them a visit soon to experience first-hand our Westmont Public Library.
Westmont offers our residents and guests a great range of shopping and
dining experiences, with our 100+ dining destinations everyone can dine around the world with so many types of menus available daily. It is the reason that I always remind everyone to shop, dine and discover Westmont for your pleasure and to keep our community strong and vibrant by shopping local.
In closing, Westmont is truly a familyfocused community with so much to offer our residents and guests. Westmont enjoys hosting many community-wide events held throughout the year. Westmont Economic Development Partnership
Working in support of the growth and success of Westmont
Greetings from the Westmont Economic Development Partnership (WEDP) to all our residents, property and business owners that call Westmont home. What is WEDP? WEDP is a publicprivate partnership with the Village of Westmont and the Westmont Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau. The purpose of WEDP is to proactively promote the Village of Westmont in ways that support the retention of our existing business community, recruit new businesses as well as attract and retain residents to the quality of life offered in Westmont. WEDP services include corporate location support, ready inventory of available commercial and residential properties, site selection tours and general support with business information and location selection services to serve as a guide and key resource on how to open or expand a business in Westmont.
Our central location with excellent transportation and schools and a highly educated workforce makes Westmont a desirable place to live.
In addition, this also makes Westmont a great place to lease, build, buy and conduct business. As a direct result, commercial development activity during 2022 in Westmont included the grand opening of a new transit-oriented designed luxury multi-family building called Quincy Station at 1 West Quincy Street. Quincy Station is located in the heart of downtown Westmont and offers unique features with distinctive interiors available in a studio to two bedrooms plus den configurations. Plans are inprocess for additional new residential and commercial projects in downtown Westmont. In 2022 we plan to have a grand total of five new restaurants open and one relocated to a larger space in downtown Westmont. We also celebrated the 25th anniversary of Uncle Bub’s BBQ in downtown Westmont in November; way to go, Uncle Bub’s BBQ … Westmont loves you!
WEDP has a key incentive tool that can be used to recruit and retain; Westmont
has an active TIF District in both our Downtown B-1 Business District and in our 63rd Street South Westmont Business District. Funds created through these TIF districts have already greatly helped to spur new development and support infrastructure investments and upgrades. Additional potential project incentives can be considered based on project location, type, scope and positive economic impact (jobs, sales tax, property tax, etc.) to the village.
WEDP does ask for your help and support in terms of the identification of any potential new business that you would value in Westmont. Also, if you have experienced a business elsewhere that you think is a good fit for our community, please pass that along – we value your input! Last but not least, if you know someone looking for a new place to live, recommend Westmont. We are happy to connect them with a local realtor! Please contact WEDP with your ideas and recommendations.

Westmont residents have access to some of the state’s finest healthcare institutions within an active community where residents continually find opportunities to engage with others, build friendships and make a positive impact.
Westmont residents can choose top-rated medical care from Edward-Elmhurst Health, AMITA Adventist Medical Center Hinsdale and Advocate Good Samaritan Health and Wellness Center in Downers Grove. These three hospitals with additional offices for physicians and specialists provide some of the finest care in the state and are located within a very short drive from the community.
The Westmont Chamber of Commerce is proud to collaborate with businesses each year at its annual Senior Expo. This event brings a collection of businesses and services that all work with seniors and their families in a fun and energetic environment to help residents learn more about local community services.
Additionally, the Westmont Chamber of Commerce invites its business members to participate in the monthly Senior Resource Committee, providing networking opportunities for businesses that are involved with the senior community as well as planning programs and events.
The Westmont Park District invites all residents age 55 and older to connect and enjoy activities and events through the Senior Center, located at 55 E. Richmond St. Open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This dedicated space provides opportunities for fitness, educational classes, trips and recreation including tables for card games.
Westmont has made caring for its aging population a priority and is proud to have earned the designation as a Dementia Friendly Community, the first village to earn this status within DuPage County.
To be recognized as a Dementia Friendly Community means staff within the village, including police and fire personnel, as well as staff from the Westmont Library and park district have taken specific steps
to train and provide resources to serve and accommodate those with dementia and their care-partners. Additionally, this training and awareness extends beyond the village staff to other agencies, including the Westmont Chamber of Commerce and local businesses.
A Dementia Friendly Community is one that is safe and respectful of individuals with the disease, their families and caregivers and provides supportive options that foster one’s quality of life. Dementia Friendly Westmont aims to provide resources and support to those with dementia and their care-partners. Residents can attend the dementia educational programs at the Westmont library and soon, a Memory Café. This Café will be a welcoming place for those living with dementia and care partners to socialize, enjoy an activity together and get mutual support.
Taking care of one’s self means taking care of both body and mind. Residents choose Westmont for its access to health care, the support of one’s health needs and the ability to bring people together in friendship.

Volunteers Make Westmont the ‘Bestmont’
It takes a village to make Westmont one of the best places to live, and that’s evident through its incredible network of opportunities for residents to give back and support their neighbors.
“We’re always looking to get more people involved in community organizations because it’s the lifeblood of the community,” said Larry Fossberg, executive director of the Westmont Chamber of Commerce.
Taking an active role in the community is a great way to give back, make new friendships and even take part in special events. The nonprofit organization Westmont Special Events is responsible for more than 50 days of recreational programming each year, said Westmont Special Events Founder Larry McIntyre. The organization produces events
including Taste of Westmont, Cruisin’ Nights, community arts programming and even a few pub crawls each year. Additionally, the group collaborates with other village organizations to produce Holly Days and Wicked West Fest.
“Our events require the help of a lot of volunteers,” McIntyre said. “Whether someone wants to help for just a single event, or assist with event planning throughout the year, all help is welcome and appreciated.”
He added that most volunteer shifts start at around two hours and the group welcomes all those who are interested, from student-age helpers through adults. He said organizers always try to match a person’s interest and ability with a task, whether it’s helping with set up or assisting at the information booth.
West mont is home to a long tradition of community service. The Westmont Lions Club received its charter in 1936 and is one of the oldest community organizations. From fundraising for local scholarships to service to the community, the Westmont Lions Club brings people together in service and friendship. The Rotary Club of Westmont also supports community needs going back to the 1970s.
Service is the opportunity to give back, but when it comes to serving the community, whether at a local school, church or civic organization, there is plenty to be gained from meeting new people, working together and supporting events that draw people to the community and make Westmont a place everyone c an enjoy.
