Alyssa Von Holton and Ethan Morgan exchanged wedding vows at 4 p.m. Oct. 21, 2017, in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Rev. Norm Deets officiated the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Shawn and Kim Von Holten of Dixon. The groom is the son of Linn Morgan of Milledgeville, Tamie and Butch Jones of Chadwick, and the late Marcia Morgan. The maids of honor were Courtney Toland and Katie Holgersson. The best man was Dylan Jones. The bride works at Tennessee School for the Deaf. The groom is self-employed. The couple reside in Powell, Tennessee.

Roger and Kayla Maxwell of Sterling announce the engagement of their daughter, Stephanie Maxwell of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, to Joseph O’Halloran of Whitefish Bay, the son of Jon and Karen Zazzaretti of Denver. The bride-elect graduated from Sterling High School, the University of Illinois, and UW – Milwaukee with a master’s degree. She is employed by Kohn Law Firm S.C. in Milwaukee. Her fiancé graduated from George Washington High School in Denver and Lawrence University, and attends UW – Milwaukee, where he is employed. The couple are planning a June 2, 2018 wedding at Best Place at the Historic Pabst Brewery in Milwaukee. Invitations have been sent.

Serving as bridesmaids were Ashley Imel, Kasie McDuffy, and Kelsey Partridge. The best man was Dustin Rhodes. Serving as groomsmen were Jordan DeWitt, Zach Oldfield, Alex Meiners, and Alex Kulacz. The bride works at Hartford Insurance in Bloomington, Minnesota, and the groom is the owner of Rhodes Hardwood Flooring in Minnesota. The couple reside in Richfield, Minnesota.

The couple have one daughter, Jeannette (Mike McCombs), three grandsons, Marc (Julie), Rocko (Jayme), and Michael (Miranda), and nine great-grandchildren. Rocky is retired from Northwestern Steel & Wire Co. Rose is retired from General Electric Co.

when they moved their family to Fulton. Mr. Gould worked for National Manufacturing Co., Clinton Corn Processing, and Brinkman Pessman Lumber Yard. Mrs. Gould worked for Reynolds Restaurant, First National Bank of Clinton, and North-
western Bell Telephone in Clinton, Davenport, and Des Moines, Iowa. They are the parents of Sherry (Roger) Weuste-Tucker, Sandy (Norris Huddleston) Huisenga of Fulton, Sue (Byron) Mether of East Peoria, Sheila (Leo) Smith of Manchester,
Iowa, Sally (Ron) Marburger of Bryant, Iowa, Shelly Kupfer of Clinton, Iowa, and Steve ( Tina) Gould of Byron. They have 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. A family celebration is being planned.

Happy Birthday Happy 100th Birthday Dorabelle ‘Dode’ Swanlund Dorabelle was born April 30, 1918, to Iva and LeRoy Williams. She had three brothers, Albert, Henry, and Robert; and three sisters, Ruth, Shirley, and Mary Lou. She was rescued by Ronald Reagan while he was a lifeguard at Lowell Park when she was a child. Sh e m a r r i e d Jo h n Ra y m o n d McClanahan on Aug. 8, 1940. They co-owned Chicago Avenue Grocery and Coast to Coast Hardware in Dixon. They loved to travel, going east to Niagara Falls and west to the state of Washington. They both enjoyed playing golf and cards with friends and family, and bowling in leagues. Dode loved to hear Johnny play the violin, clarinet, saxophone, and piano. She also loves to dance, and danced with Lawrence Welk. In 1960, they adopted Debbie, and completed the family. They were devoted parents who provided her with as many things as possible. In 1977, Johnny passed away, and Dode went to work for Hal Roberts, and later, Wyanet Meats, until she was 85 years old. They had a special ham salad named after her, “Dode’s Ham Salad,” made with
her special ingredients. In 1985, her daughter, Debbie, married Kendall Wallingford Jr., with two children, Roberta and Kenny. When Kenny was in high school, he worked at Wyanet Meats alongside Dode. She also lights up when her five great-grandchildren are around her, Mariyah, Trinity, and Mateo Martinez; and Kaden and Drezden Wallingford. She married Clifford Swandlund, an old classmate in 2001, until his passing in 2014. She resides at Morningside of Sterling. She is very active with sittercise, crafts, circle the word puzzles, and card games. She also loves scratch-off lottery tickets!!! Eugene Brinkman celebrated his 90th birthday April 11, 2018. Eugene served in the Army during World War II. He married Beulah Rosene Jan. 2, 1949. They lived and farmed in the Tampico area for most of their married life, until moving to the Sterling area after retiring from farming. Eugene also worked for Frantz Manufacturing for a number of years.
Together they had three children, Sheila Geeting, Georgian ( Warren) Gilbert, deceased, and William (Susan) Brinkman. There are 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
