James Thompson and T.J. Becker of the Prophetstown Fire Department dump a bucket full of yellow rubber ducks into Coon Creek on Sunday, July 3, for the inaugural duck race. The department sold 200 raffle tickets for the duck race, with winners of the first three ducks to cross the finish line getting cash prizes. Spectators cheered and watched from the bridge at Prophetstown State Recreation Area, where PFPD organized the city’s annual Fourth of July festivities. More photos on page 3.
