U.S. Navy veteran Lou Hummel of Prophetstown American Legion Post 522 places flags on the graves of veterans at Lyndon Township Cemetery on Friday, May 20, in preparation for Memorial Day ceremonies. Hummel and other Legion members placed 347 flags at the Lyndon Cemetery and over 700 flags for veterans of all wars at Riverside, Leon, and Washington Road cemeteries in Prophetstown. The Legion will conduct ceremonies at 9 a.m. at the Lyndon Township Cemetery and 10 a.m. at Eclipse Square Park on Monday, May 30. Area Memorial Day events listed on page 4.
