‘Coleta Cookbook’: Part cookbook, part history Sauk Valley Media COLETA – The long-running “Coleta Cookbook” is updated and revised, and now features 400 pages of recipes and village history.

Sparked by a conversation on the Coleta Facebook group, a small group of current and former Coleta residents joined forces to update and publish the recipe collection that’s been curated for decades by the residents of the village of fewer than 200 north of Sterling.

Designed by Andersson Publishing of Eugene, Oregon, the 8-by-10inch book includes many old photos from Coleta. A front section of the book was compiled some years ago by Barb Gettle, and numerous illustrations by Nancy Wirth are featured.

“We have to credit Suzanne Gutierrez for the heavy lifting,” editor Kelly Andersson said in a news release. “She typed all the recipes for us and collected many of the scanned images. I could not have tackled this project without her assistance.” Other help with images and other content was contributed

by Debbie Shuman and Debbie Gettle Espinoza.

The collection of recipes and other notes dates back several decades, first created in 1976 by the Community Club of the then-Coleta Elementary School.

The names and the recipes reflect the times, and many of the old family recipes have been handed down

Coleta hasn’t grown much over the years; the community still has active churches but no longer has a grade school. Several decades of the village’s history are laid out in this book’s pages.

Meanwhile, preheat oven to 350.

Make sauce: Drain pineapple, pouring syrup into a 2 cup measure. Add water to make 1 cup In medium saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, pineapple syrup, vinegar, soy sauce, ginger, and bouillon cube; bring to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil for 2 minutes. Pour over chicken. Bake, uncovered, for 30 minutes. Add pineapple slices and green pepper; bake 30 minutes longer or until chicken is tender.

Serve with fluffy white rice. Makes 4 generous servings.

Council approves ordinances, discusses future of Consolidated Grain Headquarters

During a short March 23 meeting via Zoom, the Savanna City Council approved two ordinances and discussed the future of 103 Main St. During the Finance Committee report, Alderman Roger Husband asked whether the budget was being calculated based on speculation of the upcoming census or was the committee just going with last year’s numbers.

Mayor Chris Lain said they would go with the previous year’s numbers, but “going with the budget, if you look at it, the only things that would be set would be payroll and

insurance ... utilities, that kind of thing “ The capital expenditures included were just suggested items and would come up again, the mayor said. Final decisions would be made on the basis of the new census numbers, and no purchases would likely be approved until such time.

The council unanimously approved an ordinance that would remove the requirement that the superintendent of public works reside within the city limits of Savanna. This was the second and final reading of this ordinance.

The council also unanimously approved an ordinance that will alter how city employees accrue

compensation time, vacation and personal days.

Husband inquired about the amount of dust generated by Consolidated Grain, currently leasing the old city council/police department headquarters at 103 Main St. Lain said he’d had about 13 complaints on a windy day. He added that they are almost done with the work and the company will be moving, with a new lease owner being sought.

City Attorney Phil Jensen said Consolidated was seeking to assign the lease to the new purchaser and the current lease required council approval.

He said his only concern was that the new company had as good a

financial statement as Consolidated Grain. “If they don’t then my recommendation would be not an assignment but a sublease,” he said. “With the assignment ... all of Consolidated rights and obligations would be assigned to the third party, so we couldn’t pick Consolidated’s pocket were there any problems with the assignee. If we get a sublease, then Consolidated would remain obligated even though the new tenant was paid.”

Lain said he would not reveal the name of the new company but that the Department of Justice had signed off on the purchase and “it is a large corporation.” out of California.

ROCK FALLS – The Whiteside County Health Department has set up a vaccination site at the McCormick Event Center downtown.

A socially distanced crowd went to the vaccination clinic last Thursday at 205 E. Third St., and Congresswoman Cheri Bustos, D-East Moline, toured the site.

The health department is focusing on open registration for vaccinating the county’s elderly population of those 65 and older, but expanded the clinic to those with high-risk conditions or disabilities eligible in Phase 1b+ of the vaccination plan.

The goal is to vaccinate as much of the elderly population as they can before vaccination eligibility expands April 12 to everyone 16 and older.

“This change is made as we anticipate additional increases to vaccine supplies, more and more of our 65+ waitlist residents become vaccinated, and Illinois encourages local health departments to offer open appointments,” the health

​Quilter’s Guild donates Valor Journey Quilt

Elkay Riverbank Clean-Up Day

In the past, River Cities Quilter’s Guild has donated a male and female Journey Quilt to Resthave Care and Rehabilitation, 408 Maple Ave., Morrison.

To honor Veterans of Resthave on their final procession, the Guild has donated a Valor Journey Quilt.

When a resident dies at Resthave, the funeral home places one of these three quilts on the individual before they leave their room. Staff and residents are notified by the ringing of chimes three times.

The chimes are an invitation to participate in a farewell procession to say their goodbyes to the loved one.

Rose petals are given to staff and residents as they line up for the procession.

The family is invited to follow the loved one through the line. A prayer is said in honor of the beloved.

The rose petals are placed on the individual before going through the doors of Resthave a final time. The funeral home returns the quilt to Resthave so that it may be used to honor another.

The Savanna Event will start at Marquette Park, with plastics collectors heading south along the River.

Participants will log their findings as they go using an easy-to-use, free mobile app called the Marine Debris Tracker. Participants will use this app to record data on litter using GPS to log their location where they found the debris. Social distancing will be required.

Bald eagle injured in Ogle County now in rehab Bird of prey is now at Hoo Haven after being hit by car

BY JEFF HELFRICH jhelfrich@shawmedia.com After working on her share of bald eagles over the years, Karen Herdklotz still feels a chill when she sees one up close.

She felt that on March 11 when an injured bald eagle was brought into Hoo Haven in Durand after being hit by a car in Ogle County. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources recovered the bird and had it transported to the center for rehabilitating and releasing sick, injured and orphaned North American wildlife.

Herdklotz, owner of Hoo Haven, said Friday the eagle was in “guard” condition and in shock when it was brought in, which it was being treated for along with blood on its wing.

Herdklotz’ rule of thumb is 72 hours after an animal is brought on to determine its outlook.

“By Sunday evening if he continues to get better, that will be a good sign,” Herdklotz said.

“Sometimes things can go bad. That’s phase one.

Phase two is all is well and eating on its own and no assistance, then it’ll go into a bigger area to move around. And then it would go into a flight pen. If everything goes well after that it would get

released.”

Herdklotz said the eagle appears to be an adult male.

“There’s still a chill when you see them and their size and the white head and tail and gold beak,” Herdklotz. “Females are bigger, but he’s a nice sturdy, stocky young man.”

Hoo Haven considers working on bald eagles to be an honor and a privilege. A special license is required to do so.

Bald eagles are no longer endangered, but the responsibility is still felt, Herdklotz said.

“If you lose an eagle, you need to be able to say you did everything you could,” Herdklotz said.

“If you can give something love and warmth and make it pain-free, then everyone has served a good purpose.”

Hoo Haven is accepting donations to help with the bald eagle and the rest of the 60 mammals and birds currently in its care. Red and cuttable meat such as steak and roast can be dropped off any day from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monetary donations can be mailed to Hoo Haven, 10823 Cleveland Road, Durand, IL 60124.

Keeping a watchful eye out while outdoors and on the road can also be a help, Herdklotz said.

“When you find an animal and stop and help and make a call, it means the world,” Herdklotz said. “Most people drive by and think someone else will call or help. It takes everybody. We really appreciate it.”

OBITUARIES LOIS JEAN GROVE SAVANNA – Lois Jean Grove of Savanna died on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport, Iowa.

Lois was born on May 20, 1934, the daughter of Ralph and Nellie Pritchard.

She was raised in Nelson, and attended Rock Falls High School, class of 1952.

In 1955, she married Frank Grove at the Rock Falls Methodist Church, and they shared their life together for over 65 years.

Together, they had five children, and Frank’s military career had them moving around the country until they settled in Chula Vista, California, where he and Lois lived until 1996. That year they returned to Illinois, living in Sterling for a couple years before finally settling in Savanna, where Lois finally got the old brick house she always wanted.

Lois was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Savanna, her weekly prayer group meeting being a highlight of her week. For as long as she was able she also loved attending local auctions trying to find the perfect pieces to decorate her home.

Survivors include her children, Lori Covella of Sterling, Kelly Grove of Plymouth, Indiana, Frank K. Grove of Walkerton, Indiana, Patti Grove of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, and Shannon Grove of Savanna; and two sisters, Rose Marie Brown and Wanda June (Gary) Setters.

She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

ALEDO - Amy Lynne Wilhelm, 53, of Aledo, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Genesis Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa.

She was born July 26, 1967 in Moline, to Linford and Virginia (Huyvaert) Adams. She married Jeffrey Wilhelm on March 1, 1997.

Amy graduated from Illinois State University in 1989 with a degree in business, and was employed by Compeer Financial.

She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Shannon, and loved showing quarter horses with her daughter Anna.

Amy is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Wilhelm of Shannon, and daughter, Anna Wilhelm; her brother, Clifford Adams of Alexis, and girlfriend Melinda Mazzocco of Aledo; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Phyllis and Wayne Wilhelm of Naples, Florida; her sister-inlaw, Kris (Gregg) DeVries of Byron; her brother-in-law, Mike (Lee) Wilhelm of Gruver, Texas; and her niece and nephew, Lexi and Grant DeVries.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A private family service will be held. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

MOUNT CARROLL – John J. Kraus, 85, of Mount Carroll, passed away Sunday evening, March 21, 2021, at the University of Chicago Hospital, Chicago.

Born March 28, 1935, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, he was a son of the late Edwin W. and Winifred “Winnie” Flaherty Kraus.

He was a 1953 graduate of Jonathon Dayton Regional High School, Springfield, New Jersey, a US Army veteran honorably discharged in 1959, and attended Rutgers University.

John built a successful sales career in many industries, retiring in 1993. During his career and after, John never met a stranger.

Mr. Kraus was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Lena. He enjoyed playing bridge, pinochle, hunting, fishing, and golf.

Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Jacqueline [(nee Fick) Kerschke] Kraus; brother, Edwin M. (Sheila) Kraus,of Ulster, Pennsylvania; brother-in-law, Butch Fick of Conroe, Texas; son, John C. (Martha) Kraus of Wrentham, Massachusetts; daughter, Karin A. Kraus of Gilbert, Arizona; stepdaughters, Gail B. Kerschke of Batavia, and Gina J. (Dan) Wisdom of Sycamore; and grandchildren, Gary Kerschke, Chad Kerschke, Taryn (Christopher) Longinott, Colin Kraus, Nicole Wisdom, and Lauren Wisdom.

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws Emil and Bernice Fick; sister-in-law Patricia O’Gorman- Fick;

Loans are available to second-year veterinary students attending any accredited college of veterinary medicine in the U.S. and who are focused on Illinois food animal medicine.

The Illinois Veterinary Education Training (IVET) Program helps offset the high cost of veterinary education.

The program loans up to $40,000 to as many as three veterinary students each year. Loans are made over a period of two to three years.

IVET awards recipients a $1,500 stipend during their fourth year in

school to help pay expenses associated with clinical rotations.

Loans are repaid over five years, during which graduates must commit to working in a food animal practice that services Illinois livestock producers.

High school football fans who were missing all the drama the gridiron brings, were not disappointed on March 27 when two NUIC teams, Forreston and Milledgeville, battled into overtime.

Forreston started the scoring when Cardinal quarterback Lukas Lingel connected with Jordan Neuschwander for a 60-yard completion for a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage. The two-point attempt failed, but Forreston led 6-0 just seconds into the game.

That score remained until the fourth quarter when Milledgeville quarterback Nick Smith connected with Daniel Lohnes on a 7-yard pass with 8:45 remaining in the game to tie it 6-6.

Scoring drives for both teams failed in regulation prompting the move to overtime.

In overtime, the Missiles got the ball first and on the first play Smith found a wide-open Gage Wilk in the left corner of the end zone for a 10-yard touchdown. Smith connected with Ryan Kendall on the two-point conversion to give Milledgeville a 14-6 lead.

Forreston’s overtime points came on a jet sweep to Neuschwander in a five-yard yard run to the end zone. But Neuschwander came up short on the conversion when Kendall tackled him the backfield for a 14-12 Milledgeville win.

Milledgeville was led by Damon Miller who had 61 yards rushing on 21 attempts. Kendall added 46 yards rushing on 11 attempts. Nick Smith was 4-8 passing for 33 yards.

The Cards were paced by Neuschwander with 106 yards rushing.

Milledgeville (2-0) will host Aquin (2-0) on April 3. Forreston (0-1) will travel to Amboy (0-1) in another NUIC South game.

Polo 56, Alden-Hebron 0: The Polo Marcos jumped out to a huge first-quarter lead and never looked back in a 56-0 win over shorthanded Alden-Hebron in an 8-man football game Friday night in Polo.

Tyler Merdian started things off with a 36-yard touchdown run for the Marcos (2-0) who have yet to lose a game since moving to 8-man in 2019. Parker Wolber scored on a 9-yard run to make it 16-0, then Merdian connected with Wolber on a 30-yard TD pass before Wolber’s 35-yard TD run gave Polo a 32-0 lead after one quarter.

Cole Faivre had a 68-yard touchdown run in the second, and Brock Soltow’s 40-yard scoring scamper gave the Marcos a 48-0 halftime lead. Nathan Yingling closed out thew scoring with a 54-yard TD run in the third quarter.

Faivre ran for 97 yards, and Soltow added 72 for Polo, which played its reserves for most of the final three quarters. Wolber ran for 53 yards, Merdian finished with 37 yards rushing and the one pass for 30 yards as the Marcos ran for 296 yards and finished with 326 total yards.

Polo’s defense held Alden-Hebron, who had only nine players dressed, to minus-44 yards rushing and 9-for-20 passing for 44 yards.

Eastland-Pearl City pulls away fromAmboy

BY BRIAN WEIDMAN bweidman@shawmedia.com FREEPORT – For Eastland-Pearl City senior Wyatt Baber, it’s good to be the king, in more ways than one.

On a night he was crowned Homecoming king, he turned in the tide-turning play to propel EPC to a 30-13 victory against Amboy-LaMoille on Friday night in Freeport.

The Wildcatz (1-1) trailed 13-8 at halftime, but it took exactly 12 seconds to shift the momentum. Fielding the second-half kickoff at his own 17, the speedy Baber went virtually untouched up the middle for an 83-yard score. He was caught at the goal line by the Clippers’ Trevor Vaessen, but was awarded the TD. When Logan Krell tacked on a 2-point conversion run, EPC was up 16-13 and didn’t trail again.

“We went to one of our onside recoveries and it bounced to me,” Baber said. “I picked it up and I saw everybody going. Krell yelled ‘Go,’ so I just got in between them all. I was running, they were running, and all of a sudden I was gone. I

shouldn’t have slowed down there at the end. That was scary.”

Amboy-LaMoille coach Scott Payne looked at Baber’s kick return as the pivotal play.

“When they returned the opening kickoff in the second half for a touchdown, our kids put their heads down a little bit,” Payne said. “That was a big momentum shift for Eastland. That’s why special teams are so important, because of momentum shifts like that. We just could never bounce back after that.”

After an exchange of punts, Amboy-LaMoille (0-1) drove from its own 3 to the 33, where it faced a fourth and 1. Payne decided to go for it, but fullback Joe Quest was stuffed for no gain, setting up the Wildcatz in prime position.

Five plays later, Tyson Clark hauled in a 19-yard pass from Kellen Henze to put EPC up 24-13.

RE-ELECT GALEN WIRTH FOR VILLAGE PRESIDENT! My name is Galen Wirth and I am running for another term as the Milledgeville Village President. Currently I have been the Village President for almost twelve years. Prior to this I was a village trustee for thirty-one months. It was very important to have been on the board prior to becoming the president as much knowledge was gained. I think it is essential to have been in management prior to becoming a village president. This knowledge has allowed me to know how to make a meeting agenda, run a meeting, deal with lawyers and engineers, how to read and understand legal documents as well as other issues on a continuing basis. It is also imperative to have knowledge of how a budget works. Employee raises and understanding how to set a working budget each year are also important to having the village run successfully.

It is imperative that the village president be available during the day to talk to employees, engineers, the grant writer, lawyer and other people that the village deals with on a daily basis. Most financial business is conducted during the day.

The board and I have worked on several items that have occurred during my time as the village president. They are as follows: 1. Worked with our local state legislative representatives and taxing bodies to extend TIF for another twelve years when the original TIF expired in 2018. The extension will generate $5,000,000.00 or more during this time for necessary village improvement.

2. Paying off early the TIF 2 that was formally known as the industrial park saved a lot of interest money. This was eventually sold to BioAg. 3. The start of BDD which will generate an estimated $1,300,000.00 or more in a twenty-three year time frame.

4. Negotiated two contracts with JCWiFi to place their antenna on our water tower.

This will generate $33,000.00 during the first fifteen year period and may be extended beyond this time frame.

5. Worked with NiCor Gas to formulate a contract for them to place an antenna on our water tower for twenty-five years. This will generate over $218,000.00.

6. Worked extensively on the Main Ave project. The road, sidewalks and drainage issues were torn out and reconstructed. New street lights were also added. The road in front of the library was done as part of this project. Had money not been set aside and saved it would have been impossible to complete.

7. The water tower is approximately three years ahead of schedule in getting the loan paid off.

nvolvement with the water looping project. This connected dead end water lines so that the residents who lived at the end of the water line would have fresher water.

9. Adding video games at four businesses has generated a nice additional income for the village general fund.

10. Started the quest to acquire a Dollar General in town. This has formed a new avenue of shopping for our citizens that was sorely needed. This will generate many tax dollars of income for years to come.

11. We think that we have the best roads of any town in Carroll County. This has been through the effort of village employees Greg Miller, Jeff Hackbarth and Jim Hacker.

12. We have exhibited foresight to save money ahead for the following: A. Equipment replacement.

B. Police cars as they age and need to be replaced.

C. Pick-up trucks as they age and need to be replaced.

D. Water tower repairs that will need to be done about 2029.

E. Other future projects.

Of course all of this would not have been possible without the board working together.

Currently we have five great employees. They are very knowledgeable in their areas of work. They keep in mind that tax dollars must be used wisely when purchasing items or planning projects. They have saved us money repeatedly.

Of course I have appreciated the opportunity to have served on the village board as both trustee and president since September, 2016 and would like to continue as president for another four years.

As you may know there are three trustees on the board who are up for re-election.

They are Trevor Fransene, Todd Ewers and Chad Schmidt. All of them have shown great insight and have contributed greatly to the board. Trevor is new to the board and Todd and Chad have been on a little longer. All four of us are property owners who pay property taxes and have raised children in Milledgeville. Being a property owner definitely gives each a vested interest in decisions that need to be made for the betterment of the community.

What’s Happening at CCSSO & CCT Hello, everyone, Oh my goodness I can’t believe it is April Already!!! I look forward to seeing green grass, spring flowers and Timberlake Play House opening up!

Friday, April 2 is Good Friday so please mark your calendars as the Senior Center and Transit will be closed that day.

I wanted to make everyone aware that the Prairie Advocate publishes the monthly Grapevine Newsletter for us at no cost to us. However they count on advertising to cover the cost of the Grapevine so if you or anyone you know would like to advertise in the Prairie Advocate to ensure that the Grapevine will continue to be published monthly we would greatly appreciate it.

Lack of advertising is why the Mirror Democrat had to discontinue publishing the Grapevine for us. I really don’t want to see this newsletter disappear altogether.

We have been notified by the AARP Defensive Driving instructor, Larry Murphy, that they will not be doing any classes until at least September. As soon as we find out we will be sure to pass the dates along.

Our first Rules of the Road Class will be held on Friday, May 28, from 9 – 10-:30 a.m.

We have found recyclables in the trailer, since we do not recycle anything but newspapers and aluminum cans we ask that those are the only items you leave in the trailer.

Please remember we are a non-profit organization and to dispose of extra waste does cost us more.

We are asking all our clients, if possible, to make an appointment to see Karen, Sandra or myself as this will reduce waiting time in between clients and guarantees you to be seen on time.

Our waiting area is not as big as our other building so it is harder to social distance here. We really appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Please remember our exercise and book room will be closed until further notice. We ask, since that room is closed, that you DO NOT donate any books to the Senior Center at this time. Unfortunately as I have said before we do not have the room for them now as we did in our old building.

While we wait for a timeline and more information on COVID-19 vaccines, there’s no doubt scammers will be scheming.

Here’s what you need to know to avoid a vaccine-related scam: • You likely will not need to pay anything out of pocket to get the vaccine during this public health emergency.

• You can’t pay to put your name on a list to get the vaccine.

• You can’t pay to get early access to the vaccine.

• No one from a vaccine distribution site or health care payer, like a private insurance company, will call you asking for your Social Security number or your credit card or bank account information to sign you up to get the vaccine.

• Beware of providers offering other products, treatments, or medicines to prevent the virus. Check

with your health care provider before paying for or receiving any COVID-19-related treatment.

If you get a call, text, email — or even someone knocking on your door — claiming they can get you early access to the vaccine, STOP. That’s a scam.

Carroll, IL 61053 The government has pushed back the dates for in-country service in Vietnam to November 1, 1955. So now, in-country service is 11/01/1955 to 05/07/1975. Vietnam era vets are from 8/5/1964 to 05/07/1975.

Congress has added three new presumptive conditions to the agent orange list. Bladder cancer, hypothyroidism, and Parkinson’s-like symptoms are now included. If you are being treated for any of these

conditions, you are entitled to file for compensation.

COVID shots are now available through the VA. If you haven’t been contacted, call the Madison or Iowa City VA hospital to schedule. Iowa City is at 319-688-3511. Madison is 608-280-2160. Shots are given in Freeport, Sterling, Quad Cities, and Dubuque VA clinics.

The CCVAC will again be holding in-person board meetings starting March 31. The meetings will start at 7 p.m. and will be held in the new Carroll County Community Center.

All board meetings are open to the public.

Activities Recycling Senior Service earns a great deal of money each year through the efforts of those who gather newspapers and aluminum cans in their respective communities, and those who bundle the paper and haul it to the local distribution centers.

We need more help with this project. The “gathering” people work just a couple of hours a month in their respective communities. The “bundlers” work at the Senior Center just about any day when they have an hour or two to spare. And the “loaders/haulers” help load and/or haul the papers to the distribution center.

Please do not leave papers or cans at the front door, please take them to the back of the building. If it is after hours or no one is in the recycling room just leave papers and cans in the trailer. Madison trips for Veterans Carroll County Transit and the Veterans Administration have opened up the days we can provide transportation to Madison VA Medical Center.

Carroll County Transit will provide transportation, Monday – Friday to any Veterans who have appointment at the VA Medical Center in Madison. Please call Carroll County Transit at 815-244-0011 to set up your ride.

Senior Services Are You Turning 65?

Do you need help understanding Medicare A, B, C and D? If so, please come and see us at the Senior Center, 17612 E. Benton St., Mt. Carroll, IL, we will help make this time easier for you.

Turning 65 can be very confusing with all the information you receive in the mail about which Medicare D Plan to take or which supplemental to get. If you are about to turn 65 and have questions regarding what to do, stop by and see our SHIP Counselors, Karen Holm, Sandra Aude, and Deb Connor, and we can help you sort through the confusion and answer some questions you may have.

Also remember to stop at the Courthouse to do your Senior Citizen Assessment Freeze Homestead Exemption Application and Affidavit. The Senior Center is open 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., stop by and get your questions answered.

When you turn 65 and become eligible for Medicare, the best time to enroll is during your Initial Enrollment Period (IEP). Your IEP includes the three months before, the month of, and the three months following your 65th birthday. If you enroll in Medicare during this time, you will avoid late enrollment penalties.

Hospice Services We now have Hospice brochures at the Senior Center for anyone that may be needing this service. If you are not familiar with these services they are a wonderful service to help prepare family and friends for the loss of a loved one, and also provides additional support often needed after the loss occurs.

Their emphasis is to assist families who desire to care for their loved one during the final phases of life. They care for the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of their patients and their families as they deal with this period of illness and bereavement.

Transportation CCT now has 4 Buses and 10 Vans, all wheel chair accessible, and available to take people to meals, medical appointments, and to do shopping and other errands in towns and around the county or to Freeport, Sterling, or Clinton. We have now added medical appointment to Monroe and Rockford with a 3 day notice.

If you need a ride, call 815-244-0011 at least at least 48 hours in advance to schedule your trip. For shopping trips there is a 5 bag limit due to space issues.

We provide this service to assist those who no longer drive or would rather have someone else do the driving. We can accommodate a few more riders.
