The east sidewalk on South Congress Avenue in Polo is torn up almost all the way from West Buffalo Street to West Mason Street as part of a $3.2 million storm sewer improvement project. The waterlines for houses along the street had to be moved in preparation for the installation of larger storm sewer pipes. However, delays in the delivery of crucial parts have put the project more than two months behind schedule, meaning the sidewalks could remain torn up for more than a year, Polo Public Works Director Kendall Kyker said.
