news@kendallcountynow.com Plano School District 88 Board members Monday night extended the contract of Dr. Hector Garcia as superintendent for another five years.

The new contract, which received unanimous board approval, goes from July 1 of this year through June 30, 2021.

Garcia joined the district in 2012 when he came from Lombard School District 87, where he served as assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction.

According to the contract, for the 2016-17 school year, which will go from July 1 of this year through June 30, 2017, Garcia will receive a salary of $174,234, an increase from this year’s salary of $164,371 and $2,359 for a tax-sheltered annuity.

For this fiscal year, $2,500 will be deducted from his salary to purchase a tax-sheltered annuity. He also will receive an additional $10,000 stipend for his work with the newly formed Plano Area Special Education Cooperative, which will have its main office in the Plano School District administration building.

Garcia was instrumental in forming PASEC after the former Kendall County Special Education Cooperative was dissolved.

with the dissolution of the KCSEC and formation of the new PASEC during the past year, the board approved a $20,000 stipend this year.

His total salary for the 2016-17 year will be $186,735. For the following four years of the contract, he will receive only his base salary. It will be $196,070 for 2017-18; $205,873 for 2018-19; $216,166 for 2019-20; and $226,974 for 2020-21.

The district will make the standard annually required contribution to the state of Illinois Teachers Retirement System, up to Hector a maximum of 13.77 perGarcia cent of his salary. These funds are not available to him until his retirement.

The district also will pay for his health insurance through TRS while employed by the district.

He also will receive $200 each month for use of his personal car for district business and he will be compensated at the rate set by the IRS for out-of-district travel.

Garcia will receive 25 days of paid vacation, 11 sick days, and two personal days each year.

The district also will provide him with full family hospitalization and major medical insurance, full family dental insurance coverage, and a $100,000 term life insurance policy.

The board encourages Garcia to participate in local civic and fraternal organizations in the interest of promoting a better understanding of the district and its concerns to the community.

With permission of the board, Garcia may attend university classes, seminars or other professional growth activities. He also may serve as a consultant to another district or educational agency for a short time without loss of salary, and he may lecture and engage in writing activities and speaking engagements.

As part of his contract, each year Garcia must show progress of student achievement and motivation, enhance curricular alignment instruction and professional development across all grade levels, and maintain continuity of practices and smooth transitions.

He also must provide comprehensive staff development in educational best practices that will improve learning for all students, and increase parental involvement to enhance student learning.

The contract also says Garcia must create and maintain open communication and involvement with the community to foster collaboration, cooperation and support, and must use all human, physical and financial resources wisely.

Garcia’s overall performance, based upon student performance and academic achievement goals, will be reviewed and evaluated each year by board members and a written copy of the evaluation will be given to him after he and the board discuss it.

Volunteers with Waubonsee Community College’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program will offer free tax help again this season in downtown Aurora.

A team of volunteers associated with Waubonsee has again partnered with the Center for Economic Progress to sponsor the free income tax return preparation assistance sessions for eligible members of the community.

The sessions will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays through April 16 at Waubonsee’s downtown Aurora Campus, 18 S. River St.

The site will be closed for spring break on March 19.

At these sessions, volunteers from Waubonsee and the Center for Economic Progress will help prepare and electronically file income tax returns, including those requiring the 1040 Schedule C used by small businesses and the self-employed.

Those eligible for the program include families with annual incomes of $50,000 or less, and individuals with annual incomes less than $25,000.

Those seeking tax return preparation assistance at the VITA sessions should bring a copy of last year’s tax return, if they have one; W-2 and 1099 forms from all employment in 2015; Social Security cards for all family members; bank account and routing number to direct deposit the refund; property tax bill; amount spent on college expenses; proof of health insurance coverage;

Purcell wins GOP race for coroner She picks up decisive win over challenger Carl Gutierrez of Oswego

mschury@kendallcountynow.com Jacquie Purcell took the Republican nomination for Kendall County coroner Tuesday night. Purcell beat out GOP challenger Carl Gutierrez of Oswego.

Final ballot results showed Purcell with 8,675 votes to 6,858 for Gutierrez.

“I am just so happy right now – I felt confident all day,” Purcell said. “I am so grateful and so thankful.”

She said she hopes to restore integrity and respect to the office if elected to the position in the November general election.

“From the very first piece of literature I had printed it said on there ‘integrity’ – true integrity and I meant it from the very beginning of my campaign and I mean it right now,” Purcell said. “Day one, integrity will be restored back into that office.”

Purcell has been a deputy coroner in Kendall County since 2003. The vic-

tory comes despite the current incumbent coroner, Republican Ken Toftoy, endorsing Gutierrez in the race.

She said the victory came down to voters picking the candidate with the most experience and she was the “common sense choice.”

When asked if she thought the Democrats would slate a candidate against her in November, Purcell said she doubted it.

“I’ve had a lot of Democrat support,” Purcell said. “This was a hard fight with Carl and I just don’t know that there is anybody that would be able to win against me in November.

I’m not trying to be arrogant saying that.”

Purcell’s husband, John, also won his bid for Republican nomination for Kendall County Board in District 1.

FORUM Trump? Sanders?

To the Editor: I would first state that I am a 60-year-old moderate Democrat. This year’s Republican and Democratic primaries indicate people want change from the previous status quo. They are not happy with the direction our country has been headed.

Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders have been the candidates who those wanting change have been attracted to. I would certainly admit everything is not perfect, but can Trump or Sanders really improve the state of our nation? I don’t think so.

Bernie Sanders wants to have a Medicare-type of health care, a single payer national health care system. He wants free college tuition for all and a minimum wage of $15 an hour. This all sounds good on paper, but is it realistic? All of his proposals to pay for this are said to be far too optimistic by most economists. We are already taxed too much.

One thing I have learned in life is you rarely get anything for free. If it sounds too good to be true, it almost certainly is. President Obama was lucky to get Obamacare approved with a Democratic Senate and Congress. Do you really think Sanders can get any of his ideas passed?

I will admit I would like a single payer health care system, but realize it would be next to impossible to pass due to a Republican Congress and the insurance/ drug company lobbies.

Donald Trump is certainly a good speaker and has obviously inspired many people frustrated with our present government.

There is no substance to almost anything he claims he will do. He is at his best when he is ripping one of his opponents. People like that he is not politically correct. Do you really want your president using vulgarity and speaking mean-spirited as he often does? Do you think he is a good example for your kids? Why did he fail to to condemn the KKK and David Duke?

Donald Trump is like a grade school bully. Just because you talk tough doesn’t make you tough. Trump simplifies issues that are much more complex. In most cases there is no way he will be able to keep his promises.

I think people need to try to become more informed about the candidates. Even if you disagree with who I vote for, try to make make a more informed decision when you vote. I will be voting for Hillary Clinton, but if you are voting Republican, I suggest you give John Kasich a look. I may not agree with all his ideas, but he is certainly a very qualified candidate. He is very reasonable. He is not outspoken and

has not received as much attention as he deserves. Some people say their vote doesn’t matter. Well, if Trump or Sanders win their party’s nomination, maybe your vote could have prevented that.

An average American

To the Editor: I am your average American that sits and complains about our government officials with no idea how to change anything. I do exercise my right to vote in all elections but nothing changes. The fat cats get fatter while the average Joe pays the price.

My ideal candidate would say “It is time to cut the fat in our government.” Expense accounts would be slashed. No more free meals, free limos and taxies. No allowances for apartments. The average American family sacrifices to make ends meet.

Makes do with little or no yearly pay raises. We do what we have to do to survive while the government just keeps taking with no personal sacrificing on the part of our officials. I am sure there are a lot of other areas in our government spending that could be cut without penalty to the general population that we have no idea exists.

I don’t pretend to know what it takes to run the government plus keep our country safe but common sense dictates there is a lot of waste that could be better used for our seniors and children and the average Joe who pays for his own transportation, food and housing.

Is there a candidate or candidates that are willing to sacrifice where their pocketbooks are involved?

Choctaw soldiers in training during World War I for coded radio and telephone transmissions. forcibly moved west of the Mississippi in the 1830s. Even so, with war on the horizon, Native American men began flocking to the colors. Early in 1941, on the eve of World War II, a group of young men from the Fox and Sac homeland at Tama, Iowa, enlisted in the Iowa National Guard.

They were assigned to the 168th Infantry Regiment, a component of the 34th Infantry Division.

Eight of the men were assigned to the communication section of Company H in the 168th’s 2nd Battalion. The Fox and Sac code talkers included Dewey Roberts, Edward Benson, Melvin Twin and Dewey Youngbear, and two sets of brothers, Frank and Willard Sanache and Judy Wayne Wabaunasee and Mike Wayne Wabaunasee (whose surname ought to ring a bell with Fox Valley residents).

I haven’t been able to track down the origin of the Wabaunasee boys’ surname, but it doesn’t seem out of the realm of possibility they

might have some distant relationship to our Chief Waubonsee, even if he was a Potawatomi.

After training in Louisiana, the men of the 34th Division were loaded aboard transports and sailed to Northern Ireland where they received more training, before being assigned to the invasion of North Africa.

They went ashore at Algiers and then moved on into Tunisia where they collided with Gen. Rommel’s Afrika Korps in some of the U.S. Army’s first heavy land warfare of World War II. In fact, the Fox and Sac boys from Tama became the first code talkers to find themselves in combat.

And it didn’t go well.

At the battles of Faid and Kasserine passes in February 1943 the inexperience of the U.S. Army’s commanders became all too apparent, as the Germans and Italians chewed up both the 1st Armored Division’s obsolete Grant tanks and the badly deployed men in the 168th Infantry.

And given their positions as communications scouts, three of the Sac and Fox code talkers were captured, Frank Sanache by the Italians, while Dewey Youngbear and Judy Wayne Wabaunasee were captured by the Germans. All three spent the rest of the war in German prisoner of war camps, only liberated at the end of the conflict. Youngbear escaped several times during his captivity, only to be recaptured.

Although the code talkers served with distinction, and were vital parts of the war effort, their service was considered a military secret until the 1960s and so they never received the recognition they so richly deserved. Not until 2001 were the Navajo code talkers honored by President George H.W. Bush, but even then they received non-military Congressional Gold Medals.

Former Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin, learning that Iowa had also produced code talkers, got the ball rolling to honor all the code talkers.

But government being what it is these days, they weren’t all finally recognized for their service until 2013, long after many had died. Youngbear, for instance, died in 1948 of tuberculosis contracted as a result of his captivity.

As Edmond Harjo, 96, an Oklahoma Seminole code talker and one of the few who lived to be honored, noted, the honor was a long time – too long a time – coming.

“If I was young, I would enjoy it,” he said.

The feature film, “Wind Talkers,” was probably the first time most people heard that Native Americans, members of the Navajo Tribe in the case of the movie, were pressed into service during World War II to create secure communications, foiling efforts by both the Germans and Japanese to listen in.

But the Navajo was far from the only tribe involved in the project, and World War II wasn’t the first time Native Americans were pressed into service to secure voice communications during wartime.

During World War I, the men of the 142nd Infantry Regiment, comprised of National Guardsmen from Texas and Oklahoma, were suddenly and unexpectedly thrust into combat when a portion of the French line collapsed and Germans poured into rear areas. During the confusion, an officer of the 142nd overheard some of his men talking back and forth in a strange language, which turned out to be Choctaw.

The army was suffering because its communications were being intercepted by the Germans who were tapping their landlines, and the officer’s bright idea was to put Choctaws at both ends of the unit’s telephone lines to translate from English to Choctaw at one end and back into English at the other.

The idea proved a rousing success.

It was so successful that according to the U.S. Army,

after the war, Germany sent some scholars to the U.S. to covertly study Native American languages in case another war broke out, but the government discovered their aim and sent them back home.

The reason the code talkers were so effective was that of all the Indian languages, only the Cherokees had a written language, famously developed by Sequoia. As a result, the only way to learn any of the languages was to live with the tribes, which pretty much limited the opportunities to missionaries and government officials.

Ironically, the U.S. government had done its level best to eradicate the languages of the Native People, going so far as to punish students at government-run Indian schools who were caught speaking their own languages.

But when World War II broke out, their best efforts had failed to stamp out the Indians’ languages and the idea of “code talkers” was quickly revived. The Navajos who served with the U.S. Marines are the best known code talkers, but both the Marines and the Army also made use of servicemen from the Comanche, Ojibwa (Chippewa), Choctaw, Creek, Hopi, Kiowa, Menominee, Seminole, Oneida, Pawnee, Sac and Fox, and both Lakota and Dakota Sioux tribes as well as many others. In all, some 33 tribes and tribal subgroups served during the war as code talkers.

The Sac and Fox Tribe was a former resident of Illinois and Wisconsin before tribal land was seized by the government and they were

‘Find a Grave’ a good place to start research A new friend of mine is just beginning her search for her Family Tree.

I think she thought it would be very difficult to do so. Sometimes it is – but often, in this day of online research, it goes quite easily.

One place that often works well as a beginning website is “Find a Grave.”

Find a Grave is entirely a volunteer site with more than 142 million different graves currently listed on its website. So many entries makes your search far more likely to find the right one ... and, I’m glad to say, they have made the search quite easy to do also.

Even if one only had “Q. Uehling” for a name to work with, entering in that little bit of knowledge should result in lots more information with which to get to know Q. and his family.

First choose a method you like to use to find the site you need... perhaps you are comfortable with Firefox, or Yahoo, or Earthlink. Just put in the information you are searching for this time... “Find a Grave” or www. findagrave.com.

To ensure that you have mastered the search technique, try looking for someone who was in your family. Use their name as best you know it ... but remember that if you use their middle name but the site doesn’t, you will not find them without leaving the middle name out. In general, you cannot get the site to search for other spellings or information if it was not originally entered.

Of course, you will not know just what was originally entered so you may have good luck entering smart guesses – perhaps a less common way to spell a name will work if you are stuck, or a less definitive date of birth or death. The official start of spring comes this month – Sunday, March 20. Waubonsee assistant professor of earth science Karl Schulze, who teaches classes such as meteorology and climate and global change, took a moment to explain what we can expect here this spring. (No groundhogs were used in the making of this spring forecast.)

March is off to a promising start, so can we expect an “early” and warm spring this year, or Karl Schulze what are your predictions for the overall spring forecast?

Dr. Schulze: The temperatures have

Dr. Schulze: The current expecta-

tions are for El Nino to weaken later this spring or early summer, so its effect on our weather will gradually diminish. In addition, El Nino has its biggest impact on Illinois weather during the winter season, so it normally doesn’t have much of an influence once we enter spring and summertime.

Are there any other significant factors that forecasters need to consider or

attempt to do a seasonal outlook or forecast, one element is El Nino or La Nina. From there, other important factors include soil moisture, amount of ice on the Great Lakes, the amount of snow cover in Canada, etc.

When it comes to soil moisture this year, we are near normal. If you recall the hot, dry summer of 2012, we had temperatures in the 80s on St. Patrick’s Day, and the dry ground allowed the heat and dryness to continue into summer. We don’t have much ice cover on the Great Lakes this year, which should allow for warmer lake temperatures later this spring and perhaps less prominent lake breezes.

So given the current trend and all these other miscellaneous factors, it seems like spring should continue being warmer than normal as a whole.

Is there anything helpful that the average person might want to consider regarding the spring. For example, if it starts out unseasonably warmer, is it safe to plant earlier?

Dr. Schulze: I wouldn’t plant any

earlier. Although the spring as a whole is expected to be above normal in terms of temperature, that doesn’t mean we won’t have another blizzard, or another cold Canadian air mass moving in, to cause a hard freeze and the loss of sensitive plants.

In the Waubonsee neighborhood, we still have a 50 percent chance of seeing temperatures at or below 32 degrees Fahrenheit all the way through April 29 (on average). Maybe that date can move up a little this year, but since the length of our growing season is plenty to enjoy those flowers, I see no reason to rush and plant them early.

PLANO RECORD Open Roads ABATE of Illinois Chapter and the Plano American Legion Post 395 hosted the second annual Pool Tournament and Chili Cook-off on Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Plano American Legion.

Several people participated in the Pool Tournament with Jeremy Heggen winning the top spot followed by Kathy Surratt. Cash prizes

were awarded.

The Chili Cook-off competition had several varieties of chili entered for judging.

Cliff Oleson won with his prize-winning recipe, followed by Nancy Glover and Bill Kolb. Cash prizes were awarded.

Police step up patrols near school PLANO RECORD Plano police reported they are investigating three suspicious incidents in the area of Emily G. Johns Intermediate School in the 400 block of Mitchell Drive.

Police said the incidents occurred between March 8 and March 11.

In the wake of the incidents, police said they have been conducting extra patrols during and after school hours near the school.

Police said they were first contacted on March 8 at 12:48 p.m. concerning a report of a man sitting in a white Chevrolet truck who appeared to be watching children on the playground. The driver was described as white, in his 50s, with facial hair. The man had already left the scene and was unable to be located after police arrived.

The second incident was reported to police on March 10 at 6:37 p.m.

Police said a father reported that his son was followed home from the playground at the school by a white utility-style van with rust on the bottom and large, muddy tires.

The truck was also described as having a ladder rack with a ladder on top

Police described all three incidents as under investigation.

BRIEF Plano Legion Auxiliary plans children’s Easter party

The American Legion Post 395 Auxiliary in Plano will host a free community Easter Party for children up through age 8 (third grade).

The Easter Party will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at the American Legion Post 395 (lower hall) at 510 E. Dearborn St. in Plano.

Children should bring a basket to collect eggs. They will also play games, make several crafts, and receive a treat and goody bag from the Easter Bunny. Bring your camera to take pictures of your children with the Easter Bunny.

During this past week’s Congressional district work period, U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren, R-Plano, traveled across Kendall, Kane and Will counties to meet with constituents, discuss economic issues and job creation with local manufacturers, and address transportation issues facing commuters and families in the 14th District.

“Spending the week working in the 14th District offers me the best opportunity to hear fresh ideas and solutions from my constituents. The best solutions for solving problems in our own backyard are locally grown,” said Hultgren. “From tackling the heroin epidemic with Kendall County State’s Attorney Eric Weis to visiting local manufacturers and business owners and hearing about the difficulties they face with evolving workforce needs and burdensome government regulations, addressing our district’s needs will always be front and center for me in Congress.”

SHAW MEDIA Many DeKalb-area residents can remember the violent tornado that tore through Rochelle and Fairdale last April, leveling houses and trees in its path.

At the next STEM Café, “Tornado Tracking: How Meteorologists Predict and Pursue Storms,” NIU associate professor Walker Ashley will tell the story of how he forecast and chased the tornado. The free talk and discussion will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, at the Fireside Grille, 49 Sugar Lane in Sugar Grove.

Ashley, who teaches in the meteorology program of NIU’s geography department, will use the story of the Rochelle-Fairdale tornado to illustrate the most current scientific theories about how storms form, what determines their intensity, and how they can be predicted in advance.

“There are a lot of myths out there about storms and storm-chasing,” Ashley, who has been following tornadoes for nearly 20 years, said in a news release. “What you see in movies like “Twister” or TV shows like “Storm Chasers” is not reality. There’s a lot more sophisticated science behind it – and a lot more driving and downtime, too. It takes patience.”

Ashley’s presentation will include some fruits of his own patience: selections of time-lapse photography from his years of storm-chasing. He also will discuss his most current research, which focuses on increases in societal vulnerability to tornadoes.

This event is part of STEM Outreach’s series of monthly STEM Cafés, all of which are free and open to the public. Food and drinks will be available for purchase from the Fireside Grille. KENDALL COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORTS DUI charge after crash Kendall County sheriff’s deputies arrested Cristian Segura-Castillo, 23, of the 100 block of 4th Street, Joliet, after the vehicle he was driving was involved in a rollover crash in the 15000 block of Ridge Road in Seward Township south of Oswego at 12:20 a.m. March 15.

Police said Segura-Castillo was not injured in the crash. However, he faces charges of driving under the influence and was cited for improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and illegal transportation of alcohol.

DUI arrest Kendall County sheriff’s deputies arrested Seth Alan Rife, 33, of the 0-10 block of Ottawa Court, Oswego, at 11:38 p.m. March 12 on a charge of driving under the influence.

Sheriff’s deputies were summoned to Ottawa Court on a report of an unconscious subject in a vehicle parked in the roadway at Ottawa Court and Chippewa Drive. The person was subsequently taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora.

Scam reported An 81-year-old Yorkville resident reported a suspected scam to Kendall County sheriff’s deputies March 10. According to the sheriff’s deputies, the victim reported receiving an offer over the telephone for some real estate he owns.

The caller asked the victim to send a Moneygram in the amount of $898 to the caller to pay for a title search. The victim did so and was called again and asked to send an additional $1,100 to pay for tests. The victim

declined and then called the sheriff’s office.

Credit card fraud A resident of rural Oswego told sheriff’s deputies March 10 that someone used her credit card to make an unauthorized purchase totaling $200 the previous day.

DUI arrest County sheriff’s deputies arrested Jov Manuel Herrera, 30, of the 700 block of Tiffany Street, Canutillo, Texas, after stopping his vehicle on U.S. Route 34 and Hale Street in Plano at 12:23 a.m. March 12. Last year, the Plano girls soccer team fell one win short of tying the program-best of six wins, which was set in 2014.

Instead, the Reapers went 5-13. It was head coach Ben Sperry’s last season with the program, as he resigned earlier this year to spend more time with his family. The new coach is Valerie Pelizza, who is ready to spend her first year as a varsity coach with the Reapers.

Pelizza is a 2006 grad of St. Charles North, where she played soccer. She has also spent the past two seasons as the boys assistant coach.

“I’m really excited for the opportunity. This is a great group of girls,” Peliz-

za said. “I know last season was [one of] the best season[s] they’ve had yet, so we are hoping to run with that and keep it going.”

Eight seniors graduated from last year’s team, which finished 3-6 in the Interstate Eight Conference. For the first time in the program, Plano had two All-Conference players selected, and one of them, senior Arieanna Accidentale, is back. The other returning players are senior Anna Jiminez and juniors Bradi Gann and Demetra Phylactos.

Everyone else is new, including one senior, Judith Almeida. The rest of the newcomers are juniors – Marily Arboleda, Jennifer Arriola, Eveline Chaidez, Taylor Jones, Meggy Makasiar, Giselle Melendez, Janelle Milendez, Odalis Meraz, Giselle Ortiz, Daisy Oyervides, Raven Russell, Daisy Sanchez, Gema Tinoco, Estafany Valles and Wanjiri Wambugu.

Pelizza is still getting to know her new team, but already, she sees good chemistry.

Even though the Plano girls basketball team finished the 2015-16 season at 11-18 overall, Reapers’ coach John Chernick knows his squad gave it their all this year.

“I feel like this team squeezed just about everything they could out of their abilities. They worked hard in practice to get better, and they played together all the way to the end,” Chernick said. “I’m very proud of the girls for persevering through some tough times and showing great character and class.”

The season ended in the Class 3A

IMSA Regional, when Rosary defeated the Reapers, 59-37. It was the final game for four seniors – Rylie Loux, Khiyana Magee, Ashontik Jones and Shannon Tierney.

“I want to thank the four seniors again,” Chernick said. “They were all four-year players for us, and I will miss them. They all were leaders in their own way, and they accomplished a lot together. I’m very proud of all of them.”

The Reapers started the season 2-2 at Somonauk’s Breakout Tournament and went 1-3 at Amboy’s holiday tournament. At the end of 2015, Plano was 5-10 overall.

The Reapers ended up placing

eighth in the Interstate Eight Conference tournament and finished 6-5 overall in the conference, which tied Seneca and Coal City for fifth place. Peotone won the league title overall at 10-1.

Loux, who was on the All-Tournament team at the I-8 tournament, was an All-Conference selection and earned Plano’s Offensive MVP award after she led the Reapers in scoring at 10.8 points per game. She also broke the program record for free throw percentage in a single season (73.9 percent).

Junior Bradi Gann was named to the All-Tournament team at Amboy, was Honorable Mention in the I-8 and Plano’s Defensive MVP after averaging 7.6 points and 2.9 steals per game. The

Gann will lead the pack of returning players, along with juniors Demetra Phylactos, Raven Russell, Ashley Martinez, Decora Jones, Destiny Olson, Sarah Roberts and freshman Lexi Tisberger. Hannah Hupe and Brittany Strause sat out with injuries.

“Bradi, Demetra and Raven all saw a lot of time this year, and we will count on them heavily next year.

Ashley, Destiny, Decora and Sarah all helped us tremendously in practice but didn’t see a lot of minutes,” Chernick said. “It will come down to which of them put in the time this off-season to improve their game.”
