Gift from Hopkins alums
The Granville Library Branch of the Putnam County Public Library District is planning to buy an awning for the front of the east-facing building at 214 S. McCoy St., and the Hopkins High School Alumni Association is helping to pay for part of the cost with a donation of $2,500. Pictured (from left) are Bob Peterson, Ardene Peterson, Peg Gonet, Karen Ossola and Charlene Sandberg of the Hopkins alumni group, presenting the donation to Jay Kalman, library director (far right), on Dec. 13. Behind Kalman is Bernie Egan, library clerk. The free-standing awning is expected to be installed in late winter or early spring. Hopkins High School operated in Granville from 1918 until 1966, when a consolidation created Putnam County High School. (PCR photo/Jim Dunn)
