Wednesday, June 26, 2019 • 50 CENTS

Raindrops keep fallin’ While many area farmers finally made it into their fields to plant, heavy rains continue to threaten the newly emerging crops. Reports indicate that as of June 16, 88 percent of the state’s corn crop and 70 percent of soybean crop had been planted. During the same period, 74 percent of the corn and 50 percent of the beans had emerged. Compared to last year during this time, nearly all the corn had emerged, and 93 percent of the beans were growing. (PCR photo/Dave Cook)
