Fee increases win approval from county board members Members expect more than $30,000 a year in new revenue

BY DAVE COOK news@putnamcountyrecord.com HENNEPIN — During its Jan. 14 meeting the Putnam County Board approved two ordinances that are expected to generate $30,000 a year or more in additional revenue for the financially-strapped county.

Following an extensive cost analysis study by the BellwethSteve er Group, who Putnam County Clerk Dan Malavolti Kuhn said performed Chairman, Putnam similar studies for 60 of the state’s 102 coun- County Board ties, the county will be implementing increases to various county clerk and recorder fees, as allowed by state statute.

“There’s more potential out there to collect extra revenue based on comparison to other counties,” Putnam County Board Chairman Steve Malavolti said.

Kuhn used the tax redemption fee that follows a tax sale as an example, saying for years the county has charged only $3. However, according to the study, the county would be justified in raising the fee to $101.

The current county budget has a deficit of more $400,000, and in 2018 the county had to make an interfund loan to itself in order to meet expenses.

Treasurer’s report County Treasurer Kevin Kunkel reported a total General Fund balance of $392,712.29.

“That should get us through February and into March,” he said.

mid-February and expected the county would likely have to borrow between $300,000 to $400,000 as a tax anticipation loan, which would be paid back in July. He also said he’d been in contact with local banks and expects the county to be able to borrow the funds at an interest rate of 3.5 percent to 4 percent.

Courthouse improvements Sheriff Kevin Doyle has said the county is in discussions with an electrician about the possibility of installing additional electrical outlets near the attorney’s tables in the courtroom.

Since courts are transitioning to paperless documents, attorneys will need to be able to have electrical access for their laptops.

This could be a challenging process in a courthouse built in 1839, but Doyle said they’re expecting the easiest way might be to go through the floor from the offices below.

In other board news • Putnam County Highway Engineer Pat Sloan reported the plans for this summer’s Bottom Road bridge

improvements are being finalized.

• The board tabled the annual review of courthouse policies and procedures until next month because they were waiting for input from some department heads.

• The next Putnam County Board meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 11.

Granville makes plans to widen Elm Street Board OKs new liquor license for Lost Duck Tavern

BY DAVE COOK news@putnamcountyrecord.com GRANVILLE — Now that McCoy Street is an attractive entrance into Granville, the village board is preparing to work on another: Elm Street.

“Now that McCoy Street is finished, I think it’s important we work on Elm Street. That way, when people enter the village from either street, they get a nice impression,” Board member Jim Pettit said at the village board’s Jan. 15 meeting.

The board approved Village Engineer Mike Richetta’s continuance of the work needed to prepare an estimate to widen and resurface Elm Street.

The work will also include improved drainage and the addition of a sidewalk on the western side from Route 71 to Hopkins Street.

Richetta said there will be 900 feet of improvements, and that because Elm Street is offset, the street will be widened to the east and possibly to the west.

Liquor license approved Granville will soon be home to the Lost Duck Tavern after the board’s approval of a new liquor license for owner John Sullivan.

Sullivan and his wife recently purchased the McCoy Street building that formerly housed Big Shots, and they are renovating before their planned opening in March.

Sullivan told the board they had recently moved from the Chicago area and that he has 20 years of brewing experience, including time with Goose Island Brewery. He said while he would love to be able to brew, Lost Duck will first be only a tavern, followed by the possible addition of food at a later date.

“This is a nice town, and we’d love to do business here. We’re really excited to be a part of this community, and it’s exactly what we were looking for,” Sullivan told the board.

The board voted unanimously to approve Sullivan’s liquor license, but while board member Tina Dolder made the initial motion to approve it, she also voiced her concern.

“I hate to have five liquor licenses in town, but we don’t really have an option,” she said.

She later explained that someone moving to town and buying a building that had previously been a bar didn’t leave the board with an option, since it had been purchased

with the intent of opening another licensed establishment.

Plant improvements Richetta will also be working on an estiJared Baker mate to install two Granville industrial-sized ceiling village fans in the waste water president building to help dry the mixture of waste sludge and polymer before disposal.

Based on preliminary research, Richetta said he would expect a 7-foot, six-bladed, 110-volt fan to cost about $2,700. His plans are for the installation of two fans, and he said each fan would cover roughly 2,000 square feet of the 4,000-square-foot building. Also under consideration are 10-foot fans that would improve the airflow over 3,000 square feet. Richetta will seek estimates from electricians.

Richetta said the extensive improvement project at the water treatment building has reached the “substantial completion” phase, and all that remains is the installation of labels, touch-up paint and final cleanup.

Vehicle replacement fund To help the village more easily replace vehicles, Pettit suggested the creation of two accounts. The first would be in the General Fund and

The second would be part of the Sewer and Water Fund and have $2,000 a month allocated.

“That will give us $36,000 a year.

Then we can start timing for when to buy some vehicles,” he said.

The village also wants to reduce its fleet from four trucks to three.

In other board news • Dolder announced that this year, the village will not be participating in any coordinated garage sale events with other communities, such as the Illinois River Valley Sales Ride that it joined last year.

Instead, Granville will host its village garage sales independently.

• The next Granville Village Board meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5.

Part four in a series PCR NEWS STAFF news@putnamcountyrecord.com The following is the fourth part in a review of notable new state laws that took effect on Jan. 1.

DCFS Birth Records: Permits young people who have been placed under temporary guardianship or custody of DCFS to freely receive up to four certified birth certificates annually through age 26 if they were in care of DCFS on or after their 18th birthday.

Custodial Alternatives for Pregnant Detainees: Requires the court to release a pregnant pre-trial detainee if birth will be given while in custody unless, after a hearing, the court determines the release would pose a threat to a victim or the general public. Allows the court to order a pregnant or post-partum detainee to be on electronic monitoring as a condition of pre-trial release.

Protective Orders: Establishes that foster parents, legally appointed guardians, adoptive parents and prospective adoptive parents are added as persons protected under the Domestic Violence Act and Protective Orders Article.

DCFS Youth Post-Secondary Tuition and Fee Waivers: Increases access to post-secondary education for foster youths by providing tuition and fee waivers at any community college, university, or college maintained by the state of Illinois for eligible youths, including those not chosen for the current DCFS scholarship program, those the Department has court-ordered legal responsibility for, youths who aged out of care, youths formerly under care who

have been adopted and were the subject of an adoption assistance agreement, or who have been placed in private guardianship and were subject to a subsidized guardianship.

Adults with Disabilities Guardianship: Provides a court may not appoint an individual a guardian of a person or estate of an adult with disabilities before the wouldbe guardian discloses to the court the number of adults with disabilities over which he/she currently is appointed guardian. Provides if a court determines the would-be guardian is appointed guardian over more than five adults with disabilities, the court shall order the circuit court clerk to notify the Guardianship and Advocacy Commission and requires the commission shall maintain a list of all notifications.

Youth in Care Assistance: Requires the DCFS to assist youths in care in identifying and obtaining documents to function as an independent adult prior to the closure of the youths’ wardship. Necessary documents must include, but not be limited to: state identification card or driver’s license; Social Security card; medical records; educational records; and other documents.

Workforce and Family Training Programs: Creates a five-year demonstration for two projects currently operating and being privately funded by Carle Foundation Hospital and Physician Group. These consist of the Job Readiness and Learning Program, which includes a paid training program, and Healthy Beginnings, a free, multiyear Nurse Family Partnership program for pregnant women, primarily at or below the poverty level, and offering support such as prenatal and fami-

ly health, early childhood development, violence reduction, caregiver educational advancement/employment, and family self-sufficiency.

DCFS Significant Event Reporting: Requires DCFS to provide a minor’s guardian ad litem or attorney, with a copy of each significant event report involving the minor, no later than three days after DCFS learns of an event requiring a report, or earlier, as required by Department rule. Defines “significant event report” to mean a document describing an event such as allegations of abuse, neglect or anything concerning their well-being.

Child Abuse Reports: Requires DCFS to keep unfounded reports of child abuse or neglect for a minimum of five years. Seeks to provide investigators more information so patterns of abuse or neglect are more easily recognizable.

DCFS Specialized Placement Trafficked Youth: Provides that before July 1, the DCFS shall develop or enter contracts with agencies providing specialized placements for youth who are victims of sex trafficking.

Visitation Clarification: Clarifies when a grandparent, great-grandparent, sibling or step-parent can seek visitation.

Health Care Surrogate for Youth in Care: States when the court has appointed a temporary guardian for an abused or neglected minor, it’s allowed to also give the custodian the authority to serve as a surrogate decision-maker for the minor.

Child Support Driver’s License Suspension: A penalty reduction for driving on a suspended or revoked driver’s license for failure to comply with an order to pay child support

or comply with a visitation order, as well as for unpaid parking tickets.

Only after receiving three or more tickets without paying any fees will they be guilty of a Class A misdemeanor for driving while suspended or revoked.

Guardian Restrictions: Prohibits an agency employee who’s directly providing care to a disabled adult ward from being appointed guardian to avoid a potential conflict of interest.

Frail Individual Visitation: A process for family members to get court-ordered visitation if a family caregiver unreasonably prevents a family member from visiting a frail elderly individual.

Public Lactation Room: Every facility housing a circuit court must designate at least one public lactation room or area by June 1. It can’t be in a restroom and must include a chair, table, electrical outlet, and, where possible, a sink.

Public Housing Applicant: Upon request for public housing, a housing choice voucher, or other housing owned or operated by a Housing Authority, the Housing Authority must provide an applicant with information on their position on the waiting list within 10 business days.

Visitation Privileges of Disabled Adult: Authorizes various persons to petition for visitation of a ward who is a disabled adult. Also prohibits the court from allowing visitation if the court finds the ward has capacity to evaluate and communicate decisions regarding visitation and expresses a desire not to have visitation with a petitioner.

Adoption Consent Forms: Amends the Adoption Act to update various forms related to consent and surrender for purposes of adoption.

Hennepin Marine receives CSI service satisfaction award HENNEPIN — Mercury Marine has presented Hennepin Marine of Hennepin its Service Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) Award for 2018.

Mercury Marine’s Service CSI Program measures the satisfaction of consumers after having service work done on their Mercury outboard or MerCruiser Sterndrive.

Hennepin Marine won the Service CSI Award for its ongoing commitment to providing exemplary customer service based on the responses of customers who had warranty work performed at the dealership during the past year.

Hennepin Marine is one of 12 dealers in North America that have

received the award for all 13 years that is have been awarded.

The CSI score for each dealer is measured and monitored by Mercury Marine. After warranty work has been completed, Mercury sends out a Service CSI survey to the consumer, asking him or her to rate the service received.

To be eligible for the Service CSI Award, a dealer must maintain a score of 92 or better out of 100 in the Service CSI survey. These surveys ask consumers to rate their overall service satisfaction with the dealership and also indicate whether they would revisit the dealership again in the future.

BY DAVE COOK news@putnamcountyrecord.com HENNEPIN — The foot bridge that will span Coffee Creek and connect the village of Hennepin to the Dixon Waterfowl Refuge is now one step closer to completion following the Jan. 16 board meeting.

Ken Giordano, of Illinois Valley Surveying and Consultants, said the ecological study for the presence of threatened bat species has been completed and that the site was clear. He also said the Army Corps of Engineers had signed off on the project.

However, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) was requiring an additional $2,690 to finish its review.

He added the Environmental Protection Agency wouldn’t sign off on the project until the IDNR had.

“These fees from the IDNR are well within the budget,” he said before the board approved their payment.

Giordano said he hasn’t wanted to incur any design expenses until all the permits had been finalized.

“It will go fast afterwards because this will be a packaged bridge and the company has their own structural engineers who will take care of those details. We just tell them what we want and they’ll take care of everything else in regards to its construction,” he said.

He said the footbridge will be made of weathered steel with a wood plank floor, and it will span Coffee Creek from Third Street.

The bridge will provide access onto the Marquis Oak Ridge Trail that leads into the trail system of the more than 3,000-acre Dixon Waterfowl Refuge south of the village.

Economic development The board approved a five-year, $1,000-a-year commitment to the North Central Illinois Economic Development Corp. (NCIEDC).

The village’s previous commitment was for $925 a year for three years.

In other board news • The village’s fireworks budget will remain the same as 2018’s with $15,400 allotted toward the Thunder on the Illinois Fourth of July celebration.

• The board approved the purchase of a used, 8-foot-wide hydraulic box spreader for $2,800 from Hennepin’s Central Illinois Equipment Sales.

• The board verbally agreed to spend $7,200 for three meetings with the North Central Illinois Council

• Board member Quentin Buffington reported a security camera had been ordered and that he was expecting delivery within the week.

• The board has given Advanced Asphalt until May 1 to finish its landscaping and re-seeding work connected to last year’s street improvements. Giordano estimated it was about $6,000 worth of work and said the village was holding a final $30,000 payment until the work is completed.

• The board will be discussing a solar farm ordinance next month.

• The village will be surveying its ash trees before committing to further pest treatments. The board agreed the $195 per tree treatments were worth it for large, fully established and healthy trees. However, they felt the smaller trees with possible infestation damage would be easier and more cost-effective to remove and replace with different types of trees.

• The next Hennepin Village Board meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20.

Building will be used by ag students, instructors as well OGLESBY — Prior to the monthly meeting of the Illinois Valley Community College board, the board’s Facilities Committee reviewed details for a proposed agriculture storage facility to be built on the site of the recently demolished dairy barn.

The 7,500-square-foot building would house a tractor, field cultivator and planter for use by IVCC ag students and instructors. In a second phase of the master plan project, the college hopes to add a lab for the agronomy program.

IVCC has secured nearly $165,000 in deferred maintenance funding from the state for the project — requiring a $60,210 match from the college — and will seek additional state dollars if there is a capital bill.

“Our political sources suggest it is wise to have a project on the list for the new legislative session,” said IVCC President Jerry Corcoran.

The college anticipates a Case-IH tractor, cultivator and planter will be made available to the ag program this year by CNH Industrial, an accommodation facilitated by CNH’s Kyle Dooley.

“The precision farming equipment and agronomy lab would catapult our program forward as we seek to serve more than 1,300 district high school ag students,” said Corcoran.

In early December, the college spent about $50,000 of its required match to have the barn taken down and removed.

In other business, the Facilities Committee recommended replacement of damaged drainage tiles in campus farm fields. Ponding in several areas has made farming challenging, Corcoran said.

In the meeting of the entire board, trustees approved tuition waivers for recent high school graduates enrolled in IVCC automotive and agriculture programs.

To qualify for the six-credit-hour waiver, students must enroll fulltime in either the Agriculture Business Management or Agronomy Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree or the Automotive Technology AAS degree or Advanced Automotive Technology certificate within one year of high school graduation.

IVCC is partnering with Starved Rock Associates for Vocational and Technical Education (SRAVTE) on the initiative.

The board approved: • A 16-page “enrollment driver” magazine to be distributed to more than 30,000 district residents in late March prior to the start of fall and summer registration. Indiana Printing and Publishing of Indiana, Penn., submitted the low bid of $13,853.

• A pair of business after-hours hosted by Illinois Valley Labor Management at IVCC and the Ottawa Center. The 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 7 event on main campus is in conjunction with the annual Career Expo at IVCC March 8. The 5 to 7 p.m. Ottawa Center after-hours will be either Tuesday, March 12 or

Wednesday, March 13. Both events are co-sponsored by local chambers and will include alcohol.

The board learned: • Jaime Avila has been hired as offshift custodian starting Jan. 14.

• In his monthly report, Corcoran said enrollments continue to struggle as staff work to close the gap between budgeted and actual credit hours.

“New EMS instructor Nicholas Fish is optimistic about the potential for his program, new student recruitment specialist Gracelyn Quesse is on board, and our new cybersecurity program shows great promise for fall semester enrollments,” Corcoran said, noting a medical assistant program will also launch in August. “We’re optimistic our new programs will be well received by the community.”

• American Federation of Teachers Local 1810 President Tracy Lee briefly addressed the board during the public comment portion of the meeting regarding an issue the union raised at the Oct. 11 meeting.

Lee left information for the board to review and requested a formal written response.

HENRY — Forest Eldon Morgan III, 47, of Henry, formerly of Hennepin, passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, at his residence.

Forest was born Oct. 19, 1971, in Spring Valley to Forest Eldon and Betsy Lou (Lester) Morgan II. He was previously married to Marla Maubach.

Forest was a machine operator and worked for Bill Maupin Farming. He previously worked for Maupin Trucking.

Forest enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his four wheeler.

Survivors include three brothers, Tucker (Diane) Newhalfen of Lacon, Bob (Kathy) Newhalfen of Magnolia and David (Lydia) Newhalfen of McNabb; three sisters, Vickie (Jerry) Chamness of Lacon, Tammy Schlosser of Lacon and Shelly (Troy) Ebel of Hennepin; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

There will be a private graveside service in Putnam Cemetery at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.

GRANVILLE — Wayne H. Welch, 82, of Granville died at 1:59 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru.

Born Feb. 7, 1936, in LaSalle to George and Laura (Kinkee) Welch, he married Charlotte Neubaum Sept. 18, 1954.

He worked for Marquette Cement for 30 years. He also farmed for many years.

He is survived by his three daughters, Debbie (Tom) Ziano of Granville, Lorrie (Dave) Ziano of McNabb and Cindy (Wyatt) Haws of Texas; two sons, Wayne E. (Cheryl Hoffman) Welch of Granville and Wesley (Jane) Welch of Granville; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte; two brothers; and two sisters.

There will be no services. Cremation rites will be accorded. The HelmerShields Funeral Home in Granville is handling the arrangements.

PERU — Jennifer Sines is the new pharmacy director at Illinois Valley Community Hospital.

A 2000 graduate of Creighton University’s School of Pharmacy, Sines has worked full-time as a pharmacist at IVCH since 2003. Before then she had worked holidays and summers at the hospital as a pharmacy tech and later as a supplemental pharmacist.

Jennifer Sines also worked for a time as a pharmacist for Sines Osco Drugs and the Princeton Walmart.

Sines is an Illinois Valley native and a graduate of LaSalle-Peru High School. She was instrumental in starting the LaSalle County P2D2 prescription drug disposal program.

Retiring as IVCH pharmacy director is Jim Rietgraf, who had been a pharmacist at the hospital for 40 years.

PCHS mentoring project shared with Rotarians GRANVILLE — Putnam County School Superintendent Carl Carlson shared the success story of “Panthers Progress Program,” or “P-cubed,” with fellow Rotarians at the club’s Jan. 10 meeting.

Partnering with Marquis Energy, Carlson and PCHS administrators developed the new mentoring program to engage and inspire selected students to reach rigorous academic goals, demonstrate positive character, and to maintain good attendance, all hoped to inspire success in high school and beyond. Volunteer teachers and para-professionals serve as mentors, meeting one-on-one with participants for at least one-half hour per week outside school hours, building each student’s self-confidence and encouraging participants to set and achieve positive goals.

Monetary incentives are offered to students based on their levels of success; Mentors are provided a stipend as well, sharing in the incentive to succeed. That is where Marquis Energy enters the picture, providing funds for incentives.

Owner and CEO Mark Marquis sees it as an immediate benefit to the student, the school, and the community. Friddle will perform at Princeton Coffeehouse on Jan. 26

DAR will meet Feb. 1

PRINCETON — Appalachian singer/songwriter Jonas Friddle and his band, the Majority, will perform at the Princeton Coffeehouse at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 26.

Friddle is well-known for his oldtime banjo playing; he also plays guitar, fiddle and mandolin. Raised in the mountains of North Carolina, he was taken with bluegrass pickn’ and old-time dances when he went to college in Kentucky. In 2007 he moved to Chicago, started the Barehand Jugband and began teaching at the Old Town School of Folk Music.

Friddle’s current band is a group of talented multi-instrumentalists who found each other at the Old Town School. “Their sound is at once huge and intimate. Their enthusiasm is infectious” (Erica Elam, Chicago Reader). The full band has been playing together since 2012 and includes strings and horns, and drums. The four-piece band performing at the Coffeehouse show will be playing guitar, banjo, bass, violin/fiddle, trumpet, dobro and electric guitar.

Friddle’s songs have received the John Lennon Songwriting Award, first place in the Great American Song Contents and a nomination for Album of the Year in the Independent

He weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces and measured 20 inches in length. He was welcomed home by one brother, Cayden, and two sisters, Eme and Lillian. Maternal grandparents are Travis Hodges of Rock Island and Mike Casey of Kentucky. Paternal grandparents are Jim and Gloria Bouxsein of Hennepin.

ROANOKE — The seeds at this year’s girls Tri-County Conference Tournament held up as top-seeded Seneca beat second-seeded Putnam County in the championship game, 31-28.

The Lady Panthers, the defending champions, were led in scoring by Madelyn Dzierzynski with 10 points. Others scoring were Megan Wiesbrock (8), Molly Boyd (4), Lindsey DiazDeLeon (4) and Avery Lamis (2).

To advance to the championship game, Putnam County defeated third-seeded Midland 48-21 and Peoria Christian 58-37.

In the Midland contest, Megan Wiesbrock scored 14 points. Others scoring were Madelyn Dzierzynski (11), Lindsey DiazDeLeon (4), Cait Cioni (4), Molly Boyd (4), Savannah Tucker (3), Avery Lamis (2), Emily Bruch (2), McKenna Solomon (2), and Olivia Lamis (2).

Pomatto, Moriarty, Palm, 2007 boys basketball team honored GRANVILLE — Three persons and a team were inducted into the Putnam County High School Hall of Fame on Jan. 11.

Tom Pomatto Pomatto, a 1972 graduate of Putnam County High School, was a guiding force on the 1972 state team that finished 23-7. On the mound was where Pomatto asserted his dominance as a pitcher. In the 12 ⅔ innings he pitched his sophomore season, he went 1-1, struck out 15 while only walking four batters. His junior year, he went a perfect 4-0 and pitched only 29.2 innings, striking out 45 batters and walking 8 while tallying an ERA of only .96.

In his senior campaign, he pitched 73 innings, struck out 134 and only walked 27. He went 9-2 with a 1.24 ERA. Pomatto finished his PC baseball career with an overall record of 22-3. In the 171.1 innings pitched, he struck out 278 batters and yielded 55 walks. His career ERA is 0.82.

Jim Moriarty Moriarty, a 1973 graduate of Putnam County High School, was another driving force on the 1972 state team.

In his sophomore season, he went 9-1 in his 59 ⅔ innings pitched. He struck out 71 and walked 17 while compiling an ERA of 1.88. During his junior year he was undefeated, going 8-0. In the 56 innings pitched, he struck out 77 and walked 18 earning an ERA of 1.00.

During his senior year, he pitched 82.1 innings. He collected 10 wins and suffered 3 defeats. He struck out 108 batters while only allowing 17 free passes while collecting an ERA of 1.11. His overall win/loss record was 40-5. In the 290 innings pitched, he struck out 389 batters and only yielded 83 walks. His career ERA is an 0.97.

Tracy Palm Palm, a 1985 graduate of Putnam County High School, was a three sport standout in volleyball, basketball, and softball during her high school career.

While she excelled in volleyball and softball, much of her fame came by way of her time spent on the hardwood. As a member of PC girls basketball, Tracy was a 4-time member of the All-Tri-County Conference Team, a 4-time member of the All-Tri-County Conference Tournament Team, she was a member of the Tri-County Senior Team, and member of the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Game Team. She guided PCHS to two sectional championships, three regional championships and 3 TCC Conference Championships. Tracy finished her basketball career boasting a 52.2 career field goal percentage.

She handed out 237 career assists, and snatched 280 career steals. She still remains the all-time leading scorer in PC girls basketball history with 1,558 career points.

This team was Tri-County champions, regional champions, sectional champions, and super-sectional champions.

In the final year of only two classes in IHSA postseason play, the Panthers held their own. In regionals, PC defeated Princeton, 62-51. In the sectional semifinal game, Putnam County beat Serena, 46-36. The sectional championship game saw PC win against Seneca, 47-36. The Panthers were matched up against Byron in the super-sectional game. Putnam County came out victorious, 43-30, earning them a trip to state and the title of Elite 8. Managers were Jake Sale, Michael Slingsby, and Cody Veronda. Assistant coaches were Mike Moriarty, Mike Olson, Doug Veronda, and Jim Vipond. Head coach was John Slingsby. Players were Anthony Ahlers, Joe Brizgis, Zach Butler, Carlton Fay, Kevin Fay, Tyler Gualandi, Cody Newhalfen, Brad Passini, Jared Sale, David Seibert, Josh Smith, and David Yeager.

“Nice to have Toby Harper, Connor Brooker, and Joseph Mecagni go 2-0 for the night,” said coach Jerry Kreiwald.

“Evan Sartain redeemed himself by pinning Joey Rowen, who he lost to earlier in the season. Ben Sylvester at 160 set a new school record with a 6-second pin.”
