Chance encounter with stranger eases trip to America L-P student learns qualities of good leadership BRENT BADER bbader@shawmedia.com 815-431-4045 Thanh Huynh likes to lead by example. The La Salle-Peru High School senior is a part of numerous organizations at the school and often looks for ways to help others and leave a positive impact on their life. “It’s easy to make someone’s day worse but it’s harder to make someone’s day better and to make a difference in someone’s life,” Thanh said. She knows better than most the impact a stranger can have as one made her transition from Vietnam at a young age to the United States much easier when complications arose. Thanh recalls her parents preparing for the trip to Los Angeles and from there to Utah where others in their family resided when she was 10. “It was a life-changing experience moving here as a little kid. I didn’t know what to expect,” Thanh recalled.
