I grew up farming and developed a love of anything mechanical and motorcycles.

I attended Hawkeye Tech at Waterloo for diesel-truck mechanics, and then went to work here for Underwood Auto in 1975 operating their mechanic shop.

I left here in 1983 to work on H-Ds in Omaha, Neb., and became a certified PHD Tech. I returned here in 1993 and ran shop for Andrews for a year. I then went to work for Central Tractor parts in Des Moines working in their machine shop. I left there in 2003 and purchased the store from Andrews.

Anything else you’d like us to know?

I still enjoy working on things as much as ever and talking to people. I try to treat everyone as a friend and do the best I can for them.

E. Todd Kale, the son of Denis and Sandra Kale, is the fifth generation of Kales in the funeral service. He became a funeral director in 1989 and joined Kale Funeral Home in 1992 to carry on the five generations of family serving families in time of need.

In 1998, along with the help of our contractor, we were able to achieve our goal of tastefully combining the new facility with the original building. Upon completion, we now have a fully handicappedaccessible facility that contains a large chapel for funeral services, family room, new family center for gatherings and child’s room that provides a place for young children during services and allows adults to still see the service via circuit TV. We have also added a 60-car parking lot that allows for easier access to all.

The new bank assumed the deposits and acquired the assets of the failed Osceola State Bank, which had been at the same location.

The bank began with $800,000 capital and total assets of less than $8 million in 1987, and has steadily grown to more than $140 million of assets and nearly $12 million capital today.

The bank established a presence in downtown Osceola when they acquired the branch office of First Central Bank at 101 N. Main St. in 1990, and expanded their footprint into Decatur County and northern Missouri when they opened another branch office at 801 E. Main St. in Lamoni in 1998.

They made a commitment to the Winterset community by purchasing a branch location at 113 S. John Wayne Dr. in July 2012.
