Homecoming court: Clarke Community High School’s
homecoming court takes formal and informal group photos at the high school Wednesday, Sept. 9. The theme for the 2015 homecoming is “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work.” The homecoming king candidates are Kooper Brimm, Lane Carson, Seth Groff, Nick Johnston, Issac Lewis and Gable Reece. The homecoming queen candidates are Kaitlyn Boyer, Maddi Heath, Brooke Hem, Taylor Jass, Rachel Severns and Katie VanGundy. Coronation for the king, queen, prince and princess is planned during an assembly in the high school auditorium 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18.

A jury trial has been scheduled for an Osceola man charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Richard Ryan Lamb Carson, 38, of Osceola has plead not guilty to double homicide in connection to the deaths of Carson Erick Reyna, 22, and Noe Flores Rascon, 27, both of Osceola. Trial According to an Iowa Courts online search, a pretrial conference was scheduled Thursday, Sept. 10. Another pretrial conference for Carson is scheduled Jan. 12, 2016. The search showed a jury trial has been scheduled Feb. 9, 2016.

The double homicide dates back to the beginning of this year. On Saturday, Jan. 24, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Osceola Police Department received a report that Reyna and Rascon had gone missing during the evening hours Friday, Jan. 23. After further investigation, the two men were located Sunday, Jan. 25, in a vehicle at 1305 255th Ave., Osceola, in rural northern Clarke County. They were deceased. It appears both victims died of gunshot wounds. Court report According to court documents, a female reported, “Carson spoke of beating up her two friends and taking them into the county to dump them off.” The documents state Carson told state investigators that he did get into an altercation with Rascon while in Please see JURY, Page 4
