ROBERT L. ‘BOB’ BRASHAW

OREGON - Robert L. “Bob” Brashaw, 78, lifelong Oregon resident, died Wednesday, May 19, 2021 in Generations at Neighbors, Byron. He was born Jan. 14, 1943 in Stockton, the son of Robert Lee and Lois M. (Terrell) Brashaw.

He married Phyllis Bradford on Dec. 30, 1966 in Oregon; she died April 6, 2014.

Bob was a 1961 graduate of Oregon High School, and a US Army veteran serving from 1964 to 1966 in the Vietnam War. He was employed in the finance business from 1966 to 1978, then as a finance manager in car sales, a mortgage broker from 2003 to 2005 and was a licensed realtor.

Bob was a member of Oregon Country Club, Oregon VFW Post 8739 and Silver Ridge Golf Course.

He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed vacationing in Florida and taking meticulous care of his cars.

Bob loved sports and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

He is survived by his son, Jayson (Kelly) Brashaw of South Elgin; daughter, Jennifer (Jim) Kitzmiller of Oregon; grandchildren, Addison, Ashlyn, Avery and Cooper; and many nieces and nephews.

He also was predeceased by his parents; brother, Dennis Bates; and parents-in-law, LaVerne and Mildred Bradford.

A memorial service with military honors was May 27 at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon. Burial in Riverview Cemetery, Oregon will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is established in his name.

Oregon Police Chief Shawn Melville reports the following police activity.

May 14

Robert Disch, 50, of Oregon, was issued a parking violation at 4:30 a.m. for violating the trailer ordinance. This violation occurred in the 900 block of Madison Street.

May 18

Danny L. Rosenbalm was issued a citation at 10:35 a.m. for operating an uninsured motor vehicle. This violation occurred in the 2000 block of W. IL Route 64.

May 19

At 7:45 a.m., police investigated a hit and run traffic crash at the intersection of 10th and Adams Streets involving a 2012 Chrysler owned by Brittney N. Merrymen, 24, of Oregon, that was struck by an unknown light blue van. Anyone having any information regarding this incident, please contact the Oregon Police Department at 815-732-2162. Merryman was issued a citation for driving while license suspended.

Katie M. Munyon, 32, Mt. Morris, was issued a citation at 8:11 p.m. for disobeying a stop sign. This violation occurred at the intersection of 5th and Franklin Streets.

May 20

At 1:50 p.m., police investigated a hit and run traffic crash in the parking lot of the McDonald’s restaurant located at 211 S. 4th Street where an unknown vehicle struck a parked 2010 Jeep belonging to Ashlyn J. Kitzmiller, 17, of Oregon. Anyone who may have any information regarding this incident, please contact the Oregon Police Department at 815-732-2162.

May 21

Forrest A. Winstead, 24, of Stillman Valley, was issued a citation at 4:32 p.m. for disobeying a traffic control device. This violation occurred at the intersection of 3rd and W. Washington Streets.

Frank E. Fenton, 56, of Oregon, was issued a city citation at 9 p.m. for violating the city code truck/tractor/trailer ordinance. This violation occurred in the 900 block of Madison Street.

Julie A. Robertson, 32, of Springfield, was issued a city citation at 9:25 p.m. for being in the park after closing hours. This violation occurred in Lower Oregon Park East.

May 23

Melissa J. Martinetz, 44, of Shorewood, was issued a citation at 5:06 a.m. for speeding, 63 mph in a 40 mph zone. This violation occurred in the 200 block of E. Washington Street.

Zackery W. Stewart-Carter, 21, of Oregon, was arrested at 6:50 p.m. on three outstanding warrants. Two were Rockford Police Department warrants and one was a Winnebago County warrant. Stewart-Carter was transported to the Ogle County jail.

GARY L. PARKE

POLO - Gary L. Parke, 87, of Polo, passed away Friday, January 8, 2021, at his home. A graveside service will be on Saturday, June 5 at 11 a.m. at Chapel Hill Memorial Garden in Dixon with Pastor Terrie Wilder officiating.

A luncheon will follow at Pinecricker Cafe in Polo from noon to 3 p.m. Polo Family Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

ARDIS PRINTZ

BAILEYVILLE - Ardis Printz, 84, of Baileyville, passed away Friday, May 21, 2021 in her home, surrounded by her family. She was born Sept. 22, 1936 in Forreston, the daughter of Klaas and Mable (Welp) Bocker.

On Nov. 27, 1954, she married Rexford Printz Jr. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lanark. Ardis was a homemaker and waitress at Junction 64 and 26 Truckstop. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church ELCA in Forreston.

Ardis enjoyed mowing the lawn, farming, coffee with friends, shopping and most importantly, spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.

She is survived by her husband, Rex; son, Michael (significant other Susan) Printz; two daughters, Lorie (Dennis) Hazel of Mt. Vernon, and Julie (significant other Jeff) Langholf of Baileyville; two siblings Marlene Witmer of Mt. Morris, and Audrey (Rick) Stukenburg of Forreston; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Judy Bocker; son-in-law, Jim Langholf; grandson, Joshua Langholf; and brother-in-law, Brad Witmer.

A graveside service was May 24, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

A memorial has been established for St. James Lutheran Church in Forreston.

Four parking ticket and six verbal warnings issued May 17-23.
