Madrigals Dinner is Dec. 10-11 at Stronghold

The Oregon High School Madrigals will host their annual Madrigal Dinner on Dec. 10-11 at 7 p.m. at the Brubaker Center at Stronghold.

“This year the high court has put themselves in a position of being dethroned, and must destroy the IRS to keep their noble status. Yes, you read correctly, they are in a war with the IRS,” said OHS Choir Director Zach Hall>

Tickets are $25 and include the madrigal performance as well as dinner during the performance.

To reserve a ticket, please emailzhall@ ocusd.net or call 815-677-5493 with the following information: 1. Your name 2. What day(s) you plan to attend 3. How many people you plan to bring with you (and their names).

“Reserve a ticket now, while there is ample space!,” Hall said.

Last year’s event was held in the OHS gym due to the COVID-19 pandemic. OHS Madrigals performed in 2020.

MT. MORRIS EVENT

Christmas lighting event to benef it food pantr y, senior center

Tens of thousands of Christmas lights will be officially lit on the eve of Saturday, Dec. 4 starting at 5 p.m. on the two blocks of the Campus in downtown Mt. Morris.

Opening night events will include Santa Claus visiting with the kids and finding out what they want for Christmas, he will be in his sleigh and out of the wind.

The Mt. Morris Library Foundation will be providing books for the first 200 kids to visit Santa as well.

Judging of the Christmas Tree Decorating Contest will take place with winners being awarded cash prizes courtesy of the Mt. Morris branch of the Rockford Bell Credit Union.

Light sandwiches, hot apple cider and fresh hot apple cider donuts will be served in exchange for cash donations benefiting the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry as the Mt. Morris Senior Center this year.

Berry View Orchard has graciously offered to furnish hot apple cider donuts as part of the Light the Village Square.

They will also be offering fresh donuts for sale in quantities to take home. The donuts will be in addition to pulled pork sandwiches and hot dogs being served along with hot apple cider refreshments all in exchange for cash donations that will support the local Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry as well as the Mt. Morris Senior Center.

“We may have carolers singing Christmas songs and the big event will be the lighting of tens of thousands of Christmas lights on the entire two city blocks of the downtown Campus,” said organizer Jerry Stauffer.
