Not many people get to see their life in review for all of its triumphs and tragedies. So when you reflected on your life in this, was it easy or was it a hard pill to swallow?
“A Capitol Fourth 2022” airs Monday on PBS.
It was mainly therapeutic. Being able to look back on all of the good times and all of the bad times gave me a sense of comfort. So it was really therapeutic for me. What is it about your life that you feel people have a misconception?
I started in this business at the age of 14. I’m 53 now. So there’s been so much, almost 40 years of entertainment that I’ve been a part of. And I’m proud of it. I’m proud of all of the ups and all of the downs. I’ve always wondered how you deal with the paparazzi, the tabloids, the attention. So how do you handle that?
I love it. It’s a part of what I got into this industry for. You get into the industry for attention and, for the most part, that’s how you get attention is through the paparazzi and through doing the things that I’ve done. So I appreciate and I love it. Do you have to sequester yourself, though, if you really want to be alone and when you don’t want all that stuff?
Fireworks will light up TV, too, on the Fourth of July
Not really. ... I’m a homebody, so I’m really out in public as much as you would think.
