Julian McMahon OF ‘FBI: MOST WANTED’
ON CBS
Though you’re reportedly leaving the series, how important has it been to you that your “FBI: Most Wanted” character Jess is a single parent as well as the leader of the team?
I have to tell you that kind of attribute to the character was one that was very engaging to me, and one of the reasons that I wanted to be part of the show. When I read the pilot script, it was so prevalent that there was this kind of energy to this character and these nuances that we kind of haven’t really seen. He had lost his wife, he was parenting his daughter on his own, and I’ve done that myself ... so I understand those kinds of dynamics. And I love the fact that we’re evolving with that.
Elana Meyers Taylor is among the athletes expected to compete in the 2022 Winter Olympics Monday on NBC and NBCUniversal networks.
A lot of what the character Jess learns, he actually learns from his daughter. Each time we’re following the bad guys, Jess is processing being a parent as well as processing how to track down, profile and eventually catch the bad guy. So, it’s a beautiful dynamic that I think is always exciting to play. Alexa Davalos has joined “FBI: Most Wanted” this season. How have you found it to integrate a new cast member and character?

It’s always great to have a new character come on board, because it just adds an element of the unknown and the element of the exciting. As an actor, you’ve got to start to work with somebody differently and understand the nuances of how they like to work and incorporate that. I’ve always said that our team is a family, so Jess looks at it that way, and so do I. When you bring in a new character into our show, you’re bringing in a new family member. We obviously get to learn more about her, to understand who she is, to see how she fits into the team. Alexa is a wonderfully talented actress. I was a big fan of her show “The Man in the High Castle,” so it’s just great to have her as part of the team.
