Here’s how the winners were selected: Over a 2 1/2week period in December, anyone could vote for their favorite Bureau County-area business in a variety of categories. Online voting was held from Dec. 6-22, and we received more than 5,800 votes.

The businesses that received the most votes in each category are honored in this section. The business that received the most votes in a category is listed as No. 1, second-highest number is No. 2 and the third-high number is No. 3. Any business that received votes but was not in the top 3 is listed in honorable mention, which is sorted alphabetically.
