50-50 Raffle Tickets

The Polo Chamber is selling 50-50 raffle tickets from the car show that was canceled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Tickets are available at Scholl Insurance Agency, Inc., Chesty P’s, Jeff Refs, Haldane Custom, and First State Bank. The drawing will be Sept. 26 at Louise Quick Park at 4 p.m.

Jeff & Joe’s Jeep Jamboree

Sept. 26: Jump in your Jeep and join the fun in Downtown Polo from 1 to 5 p.m. Sponsored by Jeff’s Refs & Chesty P’s. Free drawing for shirts at 4 p.m. at Louise Quick Park.

Town Wide Garage Sales

Garage Sales will be Sept. 26. Contact the Polo Chamber of Commerce to be included on the town map at 815-946- 3131. Be sure to visit the local downtown business’s while out visiting the garage sales.

Citizen of Year, Volunteer of Year

Each year the Polo Chamber of Commerce recognizes one Polo citizen as the Citizen of the Year and one citizen as the Volunteer of the Year. Eligible nominees should consistently show civic leadership through volunteerism and service to their community. Services provided to the community should be based on volunteerism outside of the nominee’s normal employment duties.

Those wishing to nominate a candidate that they feel is deserving of these prestigious awards can send in your contact information, the nominee information and the reason you feel the candidate is deserving of this award to the Polo Chamber of Commerce at P.O. Box 116, Polo, IL 61064.

ORDINANCE 20-05 ANNUAL BUDGET AND APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING THE 1ST DAY OF JULY, 2020 AND ENDING THE 30TH DAY OF JUNE 2021

WHEREAS, The Board of Trustees of the Polo Public Library District, of the County of Ogle, State of Illinois, has prepared or caused to be prepared a tentative form of the Annual Budget and Appropriation for said Public Library District for the fiscal year beginning July I, 2020 and ending June 30, 2021 and the same has been conveniently available for public inspection for at least thirty (30) days prior to final action thereon; and WHEREAS, a public hearing was held as to such Annual Budget and Appropriation Ordinance on September 8, 2020, notice of which was given at least thirty (30) days prior thereto by publishing notice thereof in a newspaper of general circulation in the Polo Public Library District; and WHEREAS, all other legal requirements have been duly complied with by the Board of Trustees of the Polo Public Library District; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE POLO PUBLIC LIBRARY DISTRICT, IN THE COUNTY OF OGLE, STATE OF ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: That the following sums, or so much thereof as by law may be authorized, be and the same are hereby budgeted, set aside and appropriated for the specified Library Purposes for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2020 and ending June 30, 2021; and the objects and purposes for which said appropriations are made, and the amounts thereby appropriated are as follows; to-wit:

Section 4: Any unexpended balances in the General Library Fund, and Maintenance Fund appropriations will be deposited into the Special Reserve Fund pursuant to a plan in accordance with Article 40 of Chapter 75, Illinois Compiled Statutes. Section 5: The Secretary of the Polo Public Library District is hereby authorized and directed to have this Ordinance published at least once in a newspaper of general circulation within this library district. Section 6: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect following its passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
